Well the good thing about that is that having a good defense helps you be a gambler. He produces TDs. That's all I know need to know. Tannehill has not had one year so far that's as good as Moore's best two years. There is a definite argument to be made here.
Tannehill's career passer rating - 78.9 (first round pick) Moore's career passer rating - 79.3 (undrafted) I'm just sayin'.
So we benching Wake, he failed to show up. Grimes did not look good and coaches were outcoached. Be real. RT wasn't good but noone else was either
Moore sucks as a practice player and is pretty poor in relief. That's always been his MO. He gets going when he's the starter.
Because Wake never made the Pro Bowl right. Grimes isn't a top CB right? Let's be fair. A better comparison would be Dion Jordan losing a starting spot or Will Davis losing the nickel job.
Delhomme took Carolina to a SB. He was never going to be unseated unless he played horribly. Henne was the so called franchise QB at one point just like Tanny now. Little of this was a meritocracy based on Moore's performance in games. It also doesn't help that he's terrible in practice.
You can't win long term with a guy who is terrible in practice. Unless the guy is Marino or something. Moore is no Marino. Moore had his chance. Philbin didn't even want to start Tannehill as a rookie. Moore made that decision easy for him.
Keyphin, you keep saying Moore went 6-3 as the Dolphins starter.....thats nonsense. He went 6-3 in the last 9 games, Henne got hurt in week 4 at the beginning of the game. Moore started 12 games and played the majority of 13, which would make him 6-6 or 6-7 if you count the game he relieved Henne for the majority of the game.
I always enjoy reading your posts on here. Respect and agree with alot of your thoughts on the Dolphins. This is only my opinion. You are wrong when it comes to playing Moore. The only circumstances that he should be playing is if Tannehill is hurt. Moore has proven he is a very good BACKUP QB. I like him. He can win somes games for you in a pinch. But he is the back up for a reason. Granted, I am with you on all of RT's short comings....very disappointed in his play so far. But Philbin has to win with RT or he and the Qb will be looking for new jobs. Again, I do see RT's struggles...but our season should and will be determined by how Ryan improves and plays.
Moore preseason passer rating - 95.2 on 46 attempts Tannehill preseason passer rating - 86.5 on 41 attempts He won the head to head matchup this offseason.
I think Wake has shown up many many many many, etc, etc, etc, a time for us. It's not even fair to compare the two. It's an insult to Wake.
I still do hope RT gets it together just for the sake of being the 8th overall pick and being a good guy, but from the perspective of passer rating and progression he looks literally like a slightly better version of Henne.
Look, Tannehill was pretty bad today, it doesn't help that the oline didn't give him much to work with today and Moreno going out was killer too, but talking about benching Tannehill after 2 games is a sky-is-falling attitude after one bad game. We aren't a playoff team with Matt Moore we could be with Ryan Tannehill.
I think they're a playoff team with Moore. The problem with Tannehill is not the line, it's the fact he can't hit passes that he will need to hit to win games. The OL issues are overrated and are compounded by RT.
I agree. I am giving him one more week until I am done with him. He puts up another crap performance next week, I am on the Matt Moore bandwagon. I need a QB who can atleast throw for 200 yards. I'm not asking for a lot here.
I am a Tannehill fan and have always liked him. I have watched him at the end of last year and the first two games this year. He has really really struggled these last few games. Something seems to be off with him. His accuracy has been terrible and so has his ball placement. He has been slow to react and slow in his release. He has not shown any of the athleticism that he can bring to the position. Every time he has a chance to quiet his critics or change his M.O. He either misses again on a long pass to Wallace....holds the ball too long in the pocket...or misses badly on a must throw. He brings all of the "Start Moore" talk on himself. I don't think it's time forba change...I truly don't but Ryan sure makes it easy to have such discussions with his play lately
Let's look at it this way: 1. If you start Moore now and he tears it up and the Phins go to the playoffs, next year we need a new QB. Period. ...but we're picking late and we still have Philbin. 2. Keep starting Tannehill and he lights it up and gets the Phins to the playoffs. No need for a new QB next year, but will draft one for competition nonetheless, still have Philbin. 3. Keep starting Tannehill, he continues to suck. No playoffs, early draft pick for a new QB, fresh start with a new head coach (at least)... To me, 2 and 3 are the better options. IMO, obviously.
Here's a crazy idea. Keep the team together. If you want to replace Philbin, replace him with someone in house, possibly Lazor. You keep the OL that's improved, the RBs, the WRs, Clay, you keep the defense and you make small signings here or there and you fix whatever happened in STs. You start Moore next year or you start Alex Smith or some veteran that can give you consistent production and you carry this team until you get a franchise QB. No more scrapping systems, no more ridiculous overhaul, none of that. Just keep accumulating draft picks to make a strategic move in a couple of years to get a QB that you really want. A true top prospect when they become available. No more Becks, Hennes, Tannehills until a top guy comes about and you make a big move. Until then go with veterans.
Had to come on to vent. Huge tanne fan here. Moore, less- Tannes gotta be sat. Reality check time for him. Moore isnt the future. At this point, neither is Tanne. Sucks to b back at square 1. Reality check for us. At least we r battled tested for this stuff.
Tanny was bad today. Consistently threw not necessarily behind receivers, but not leading them. Several sacks were on him; held the ball too long. Nice TD catch by Wallace but in general receivers didn't do their job, including Miller's drop.
We needed a spark today that would have fired up players on both sides of the ball, Matt Moore would have given us that spark. We know what we have in Moore and he is not the long term answer. Is Tannehill? By the time we figure out that answer it could be to late.
You cant possibly believe that the QB we've seen in two weeks is ever going to take us anywhere. Ok, only 2 games. Its 3 years now. Im no expert, just a laymen. I c regression or no growth in all facets of his game.
lol. Tannehill improved in every area of his game from year 1 to year 2, and that was WITH the worst offensive line of all time.
Again. Huge fan. Big believer. And he definitely did. Does that describe the QB uve seen the last 2 Sundays?
He would have had 4 TD's last week if Sims caught that pass or Wallace could've stayed in bounds, he was fine last week IMO. I'm not nor will I attempt to defend his play this weekend. He was awful today, I agree.
