That'd be an awesome way to screw over Brand the way him and his agent did to the franchise. And what is it with Heat and ex-Laker PGs?
magic trying to trade for PG Javaris Crittendon. anybody have any info on him? http://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080714/BREAKINGNEWS/80714043/1002/SPORTS
Has some promise but has a long way to go in development. Him and Marc Gasol were the only ones I felt reluctant to see go in the Pau Gasol trade. Similar to Jamal Crawford. Basement is probably Keyon Dooling, who I guess the Magic are trying to replace. Good athleticism and slashing ability but not much of a midrange jump shot. Has the tools but needs heavily refinement especially in terms of having a PG's IQ.
thanks. i think it would be a good situation for him. he wouldnt have too much pressure on him as a #3 PG
His best role is in the triangle where he won't be relied on to conduct the offense. But #3 PG is not a bad place for him to learn.
http://www.philly.com/inquirer/sports/20080714_Elton_Brand_campaigns_for_Iguodala__Williams.html Better hope management isn't a Duke alum, EB. Though, if Clips offer AI2 a big sum with their big pot of cash, Sixers can't match thanks to the bloated contract Brand got and Dalembert's own hefty price.

NBA News: The Heat have inquired about Kings Forward Ron Artest. Artest asked to be traded out of Sacramento after a decision of not opting out. The Heat have stated that they would be willing to deal Shawn Marion for Ron Artest. The only question between the trade is if the Kings can include Kenny Thomas whose contract has two years, $18 million left.(Link) Keyon Dooling is furious over the contract offer that he received from the Orlando Magic. He stated that he was "insulted" by it and that it was no where near "market value". He believes that its not a suitable offer for a good player on a good team. Dooling was offered $4.2 million over two years. (Link) James Posey favors a return to Boston but a darkhorse that could steal Posey away is the Cavaliers. Cleveland is Posey's hometown. Posey's representatives contacted Boston but no offer or discussion on his situation occurred. Other teams interested in Posey include Detroit, New Orleans, Washington and LA Lakers. (Link) Many questioned why the Timberwolves traded forward Antoine Walker. One of the reasons stated is that he appeared to be a bad influence on Al Jefferson. (Link) The Utah Jazz and PG Deron Williams are close to a contract extension. The deal discussed is disclosed but an earlier report this off-season stated it would be close to a 5 year deal worth $90 million. (Link) I wouldn't be surprised to see Williams go the same route as Chris Paul. 5 years/ $68 million.
I actually like Marion more than Artest. Better rebounder yet still a considerable man defender. Less of a head case too. I'd trade Odom for Marion in a heartbeat now.
Free agency winners, losers: Balance shifts back East http://www.sportsline.com/nba/story/10897641 David Stern has insisted for years the Western Conference dominance both during the NBA regular season and in the playoffs was just a phase. In a quickly changing landscape, it now appears he was right.
As I recall, they never seriously planned on having Maggette stay to begin with. He wanted out to begin with and unlike Brand, didn't lure other players into a trap. Paddling feverishly from floating downstream? Um, ok. We do have a nice big paddle in Bynum returning and a very young team that made the finals injuries and all. I don't think feverishly is the word. Cruising maybe.
Maggette was expected back on a lower salary to team up with Brand and Davis. Once Brand bolted, so did Maggette.
Maggette's tiffs with Dunleavy is enough to see he won't be coming back He did and he's doing very well. Mayo got owned by Coby Karl. Nuff said.
Smoke and mirrors in my opinion. Just leaving his options open in case the Clips created an All-Star team. The Clips never seriously counted on Maggette staying.
Good trade imo. Second rounders don't pan out well. They are in the league no more than four years. Camby is a very good defensive player. Now him and Kaman up in the Center spot. They need a scoring PF.
I like it. I especially like all those big contracts coming off the books at the same time, giving them FA options again in a couple years.
Artest is stupid. Just showing why I'm scared of his off-court antics. I'd consider Odom for Artest but not with Kenny Thomas unless a third team takes him. What a steal. You can be sympathetic to the Clippers plight but jeez. I'm guessing he moves to PF? Otherwise, he's a real expensive backup.
Ron Artest is light years better then Lamar Odom. He actually loves the defensive side of half court and personally, I would have loved to see what he could do vs Paul pierce or Ray Allen in the finals to give Kobe some defensive help on the perimeter where frankly the Lakers got their butt whipped. And his numbers are just as good offensively so what do you lose? Kenny Thomas then gives you another ok big off the bench who belongs in an 8 man rotation. Thats just my opinion though. As far as Camby, I would just start him along side Kaman since Kaman is a better low post player then Camby anyway so they should compliment each other. Davis-Gordon-Thorton-Camby-Kaman is still better then having someone else instead of camby start considering the clips are about as deep as a kiddie pool.
I don't doubt his abilities on the court. I question what he does off the court (or sometimes still on the court). At least a pothead is more dependable character-wise than Artest. Kenny Thomas is an overpriced over the hill midget who should really play SF not PF. I'd have Turiaf over him any day of the week.
It amazes me that the Nuggets couldnt even get a 1st round pick for Camby, even if it had to be lottery protected; but to get only a conditional 2nd is even more shocking. I wonder if the Clippers went this route instead of going for Emeka or Smith because they'd cost more long term, or they were convinced their offer would be matched. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-clippers16-2008jul16,0,4548364.story
Rich Bucher was on ESPN discussing the trade and that came up. I believe he said that they would be out of the running for Smith and Igoudala. I think it is safe to say that they are out of the running for Okafor as well.
And to think they literally laughed at our offer of Kwame Brown for Marcus Camby. Oh well, we still got Pau for Kwame.
