How about Michael 'It's About Football' Sam?

Cowboys are the latest who find themselves joining the list of people who need to qualify anything and everything they say and do regarding Michael Sam. At this rate I think it'll be easier if they guy just changes his name.

Wait what? You too Garrett? You evaluated a football player as a football player? No way! For reals? How about Dez Bryant, was that about football? Zack Martin too? Can it be that all the decisions a pro-football teams makes are about football....except maybe Romo, not quite sure what that's about, but you know, aside from that. This is awesome news. Really glad to learn you guys are making decisions about football. You and the Rams.

    Urgh.

The thing about equality movements is that everyone feels the need to over-compensate. It would actually be more helpful to Mr. Sam and every other minority if people just referred to and treated them normally, just like everyone else. Going on and on about Michael 'It's About Football' Sam being about football only serves to indicate that there might be some other reason.
    Warning! Warning! Gay guy alert!

Just let the guy play football.

    Geez.

Gays are not a minority. And it's near guaranteed that there are more gay NFL players, just going off the larger sample size.

I do agree that the over emphasis on "as a football player" perhaps betrays an underlying separate-but-equal sort of attitude.
