I am surprised they didn't wait till the waste game.

I wonder if Seth is going to play the entire game.

I'm thinking Devlin wanted the release because he knew he wasn't gonna beat out Moore, still don't get the signing of Quinn, and not happy with Demi labato as a developmental player..maybe we add someone after all the cuts, just go with the two, and find someone for your practice squad..

Mr. Moore no longer has a shred of doubt where he will be spending this football season.

Wonder if Quinn will be able to get that TV gig back...

    Thaddeus Lewis, anyone?

Omar's out there harping on the idea that Miami won't bring on a 3rd guy but I think you've got to have a 3rd guy out there that knows your system. Maybe that's Pat Devlin after all.

Maybe they're waiting for G.J. Kinne. Despite a low PFF grade for whatever reason he's 9 of 11 for 96 yards this preseason and last preseason was 2 for 2 for 60 yards. That's a 116.7 passer rating. Though he did take 3 sacks.

I NEVER understood the signing of Quinn. The one thing he had absolutely proved since he was drafted in 2007 is that he is NOT an NFL caliber QB. Basically the Dolphins have only two QB's on their roster at this time. If Tannehill and Moore were to go down with injuries, Labado has zero chance of coming in and leading this team to a victory.

Of course, there really isn't any team in the NFL who is going to win many games if they end up having to play their 3rd string QB. It looks very likely that the Dolphins will have to wait until after this season before they will be able to add a young QB who will eventually replace Moore as the backup.

The coaching staff obviously didn't feel Delvin would be this QB and I just don't see Labado being the answer either. I suspect this will mean the Dolphins will look for another young QB in the 2015 draft. How early they will be looking for this young QB will be based on how productive Tannehill is this year. If he leads the team to the playoffs, I suspect a young QB will be taken in the later rounds of the draft. If the Dolphins once again fail to have a winning season, the Dolphins will probably take a QB in round 1 of the draft.

After some research I fully believe that Bill Lazor if he had his choice would have the Dolphins pursuing Matt Barkley to be a third quarterback.

Lazor was a big fan of his coming out of the draft. And he was very close with Matt during the year they had together in Philadelphia.

Whats your thoughts on Barkley. I thought he had a great shot at being a starter. Guyd like him and Weeden..kinda confused as to why they arent doing it in NFL

Was thinking that but would you carry 3 qb's on the 53 ? Not sure he has PS eligibility.

Weeden to me it's clear why he's not doing it in the NFL (yet, if ever). He holds the ball too long. He did that at times at Oklahoma State but often it was because they had such an aggressive offense he was waiting for routes to develop, and then he'd hit those routes. But you don't have that much time in the pros. That he can't make any plays when you get him under pressure is no surprise. We knew that heading in. That he can't be bothered to get the ball out earlier and seems to continually resist that, I think that's what is more of a surprise. On the other hand if you gave him a great offensive line and guys that can get open and catch the football, you've probably got a guy with a passer rating in the 90's. A Kerry Collins or someone like that.

As for Barkley we know even less there because quite frankly he's not had many opportunities. He was a rookie a year ago and rookies generally struggle. I never thought he was the type that would be good immediately. He didn't play much in 2013 anyway. This preseason he's done OK. Not bad. Not great either. He had a rough first showing against Chicago and then much better outings against NE and Pittsburgh.

I think we know what Weeden's issues are always going to be. I'm not sure we know that with Barkley.

Was just watching some of Barkley's plays with the Eagles.

The interception he threw against the Pats completely not his fault. Threw a perfect floater to Damaris Johnson right between zones on a wheel route and Damaris totally flubbed it right off his chest/hands. A Patriots defender ran under the tip drill and got the interception.

He also threw a beautiful touchdown against the Steelers that was nullified by an illegal formation penalty where the receiver was not quite far enough behind the line of scrimmage to where the ref ruled he was covering up the tight end.

To be fair, he threw a would-be pick in the Steelers game too though the defender couldn't come down with it in-bounds, and that was wiped out by defensive holding. But the guy who nearly intercepted the ball was the guy who got called for holding and the holding was definitely a factor in his getting in position to intercept the ball.
