His athleticism isn't otherworldly like Michael Vick.. Michael Vick and Donovan McNabb could get away with breaking the pocket and scrambling in circles before making a throw... Manziel doesn't have the ability for that luxury, he's not facing some garbage defenses like the University of Texas at El Paso anymore, he's facing the Ravens, Bengals and Steelers' defense 6 times a season (all of which are top defensive teams).

Hoyer has completed 40% of his passes this preseason and has a passer rating in the 50's. His offense has scored two field goals in seven drives, with two of those drives being against second string defenses.

Hoyer has been about as bad as Manziel. Maybe even worse. It's a testament to Manziel's idiocy that Hoyer has just been named the Week 1 starter. Hoyer did everything right off the field and everything wrong on the field, and he's still the starter.

Bad for me though. When Vegas put the over/under on games Johnny would start at only 9.5, I jumped on the over. Being named the Week 1 starter would have virtually assured me a win. Now I'll have to sweat it out. I still think I'll win, but it could be close.

Connor Shaw should be the starting quarterback in Cleveland and I really mean that. Until Johnny grows up and actually learns the offense and how things work in the NFL, that is.

I agree. Loved him at SC, though he was too tough for his own good at times.

Agreed. Shaw is perfect for a defensive minded low scoring team. Johnny does not belong in Cle with Pettine, they should cut him or trade him, otherwise it will be a waste of everyone's time.
Unfortunately there aren't many offenses out there for Johnny, but Niners and Eagles would be good options.

I wonder how Manziel would look right now had they kept Rob Chudzinski instead of hiring Pettine. Then again, Hoyer may be better too.

I thought they should've gone with Manziel for the simple reason that benching him could make him lose all interest in improving and practicing. Think they should've thrown him into the water: sink or swim. I don't see him putting in time and effort during the week only to hold the clipboard on gameday.

They should've gone with Teddy Bridgewater. That's who they should've gone with.

That would make them look even dumber for drafting him.

Scoring points does not have to come from perfecting a scheme or hanging in the pocket...he elevates players, he will win the franchise over, and he will do what he has always done..accumulate yards and points by any means necessary..
