This isn't a bad fill-in, but I think we all are hoping for the REAL FinHeaven to pull a zombie very soon.
Geez......there's so much to talk about! Beck, the TB's, Ginn, Will Allen, Crowder, Jason Allen, Cam, the draft, beating the Jets, Wembley, Dave Hyde, etc.
I don't have any insider knowledge, but the status reports say that Muck works on it every weekend, and they're Real Close Now(TM). And at least there's a data backup from August, versus having to redo the entire database from scratch.
Hey, Boomer, Long time VIP reader (first time writer), I've missed your "We're in so much trouble" parts VII-XI. Have time for a recap? Thanks!
well as far as I am aware of, the new servers were being built and then the backup of the DB from August was being restored. Its only 32GBs so it shouldn't take too long once the php has been installed and setup correctly. We had been told this past Monday but hopefully it will be this coming weekend, unless Muck takes another weekend off not sure why he thinks he deserves one when FH is down but hey what do I know Good to have you back Simon, and yes I did see BigFoot and the Yeti, or should I say Awsi was roaming the boards.
A hacker broke in, apparently. I don't know why a hacker would go for a sports fansite, unless it was the work of a seriously deranged fan of a rival team. (A wacko Patsie?)
Hey my man.....damn......I tell you what I LIKE about this team, if that's any help. John Beck. The search is over. Man, I'm talking about poise, arm strength, accuracy, pocket prescence, progressions, leadership. If we could punt, he'd have beaten the Steelers. It got to the point on Monday where Tomlin was sending Foote or Farrior and Harrison on almost every down because he was going to beat them. He made a beautiful pass to Derek Hagan which the idiot dropped. Samson Satele. Future All Pro. Take that to the bank. Ted Ginn. He has 75+ catches a season and 5/6 returns for touchdowns a season in his armoury. Love the kid. Quentin Moses. Was a high 1st round pick as a junior, had a subpar year as a senior and we got lucky. Channing Crowder. Stepped up to the plate and finally, in the 2nd half of the season, has assumed some responsibility and is playing well. He'll never be Zach Thomas and he still leaves plays on the field, but he'll do. Will Allen. Been saying it all season, he'd be a Pro Bowl lock if we weren't 0-11. Guy has a right to hear his name up there with Asante Samuel and Leigh Bodden and Rashean Mathis and Marcus Trufant and Al Harris and Nnamdi Asomugha, etc. Playing lights out. Jason Allen. Played well in London and has been excellent ever since. SS is perfect for his skill set as he's such a force against the run. This is the Jason Allen I hoped we'd draft. Cam Cameron. We're 0-11 and he occasionally makes some odd calls, but the fact that we're 0-11 and the team is playing like we're 11-0 says so much about him. He absolutely WILL NOT get fired even if we go 0-16.
What do you think about leaving Crowder on the weak side and somehow magically getting Dan Connor in the draft, then having Zach show Connor how to be an NFL MLB?
Unless Connor falls to 32.........I see us going Dorsey at 1 and then looking at tight end and CB at 32 and the Chargers pick and then a LB in 3. It's about 80 deep at CB this draft, so.......
I think we can wait until the 3rd to address corner and still come away with someone who can be a beast. Chevis Jackson, maybe? I was thinking of the possibility of trading our 2nd and San Diego's 2nd to get back into the 1st round if Connor falls to around 16-20. That may not be enough firepower, but damnit, we need a true heir to Zach, and I don't think anyone in 2009 will be as good as Dan Connor.
Or perhaps Press Coverage? Just kidding...trying to keep it lively since we're not "home" Can't wait until Finheaven comes back up. Going through withdrawals
I was hoping Dorsey (Not a bust regardless of what others say) and then LB...TE I think we could still get in round 3? What do you think about the TE coming out of Notre Dame?
[ckparrothead] 8:51 pm: I'm lmfao at the idea that my IT department gave me a prohibited internet usage screen with "Reason: Tasteless" because I tried to visit the Dorsey thread created by padre31
Personally, I'm not a fan. Brandon Pettigrew is my A1 guy. LOVE Pettigrew. I like Bennett and the kid from Florida.
Simon, Chris's work filter won't let him come here.. but HE is over here http://www.phinchat.com/chat/flashchat.php
Boomer, what do you think of J.Leman of Illinois? I really like the way he gets off blocks. I think he'll be available in the 2nd. Also, what is your take on Conners? When I see Penn State games, Sean Lee stands out so much more than Conners, unfortunately, I doubt he comes out this year.
Sam....Leman is a very good player. I wonder about his speed. A lot. Lee is staying in school. I like Connor.
I had many of the same thoughts, it's good to know I wasn't crazy. Beck has really impressed me and knowing that we have our QB of the future blossoming before our eyes actually makes this 0-11 season fun. I've gotten the feeling that Ginn will develop into a truely dangerous reciever and return man, as it usually takes WR a few years to reach their potential and he's already producing. Jason Allen is shedding his "bust" status after some idiot (Capers, most likely) tried to make a CB out of him. Satele's a future Pro Bowler, but we've known that since early on in the season. That's a good observation on Cam, btw. Unlike 2004 I haven't gotten the feeling that anyone on this team has packed it in.
Good stuff! Thanks. Agree with most points, except I don't think Channing is instinctive enough for MLB- he has looked better the past couple of wks. Maybe Offerdahl/Zach has spoiled me to that spot! I'm loving the O Line play, finally.
Simon - Great to hear from you, and all the others here too. I sure hope we secure our 1st win in the next 3 weeks....three questions 1) With the way the season is going, would you be shocked if we won the next 3 and no longer held the #1 pick in the draft? 2) If we have #1, and no team is willing to trade up, what player or position do you target as of now? 3) Based on Ricky W. injury and seemingly no longer trade value, do you think its cut and release next year, or hold em and let the chips fall based on his cheap price? P.S. thanks for the quick thoughts on what is right with the team based on finding positives this year. I agree!
