Not really. He can choose where he goes in a trade, and they can't put any restrictions for him to be a FA. If he really wants to play he is going to end up filing a grievance.
He cant choose and force them to trade within the division...they do not have to release him...they can if they are willing to pay him, simply sit him, leave him on the roster but as the backup. That is far more of a driver seat than Favre is in.
No, they can't. They can either take him back at his contractual salary (he's scheduled to make around 40 million in the next three years) or they can release him. They can't really trade him because no team is going to take him at his current salary and they've made it pretty clear that they don't intend to take him back as their starter. Favre is in the driver seat on that one.

Name a single situation that worked out like that. In these situations, players always get what they want. In your scenario, Favre would likely say, fine, keep me, pay me 12 millions bucks and see how you like what I'm going to say in each and every microphone from now till January. It would be a PR nightmare - a 12 million dollar PR nightmare - with the organization having to lose way more than Favre. Oh, and good luck telling your owner he's supposed to pay 12 million to a guy you don't intend to play.
I hear you, bro. I just don't see them in the driver seat at all. They will end up releasing him (or working out a trade Favre likes) and say good riddance we're done with that one. It's the easiest and most classy way of doing it. Just get it over with. Play hardball and you spend the next five months answering questions like "didn't a legend like Favre deserve better?" and "do you plan to play Favre" after each and ever Rodgers interception.
Like BK said, he can file a grievance. if he asks to be traded and they refuse to, they will have to release him. They have to grant him his wishes under league policy.

No. In this situation, he doesn't want to be part of the organization. He has asked the organization to release him from the team and let him go play elsewhere. If the Packers don't comply then Favre can take it to the league and state that they are barring me from doing my job and basically holding me hostage because I don't want to be here and they aren't letting me go elsewhere. I think the problem is that Farve wants to go to the Vikings. Really the Viking and Chicago are probably his two best bets right now, but theres no way the Packers would give him the wish to go to a division rival. Having to play them at home every year and the possibility of seeing him win the division with another team? No team would do this. Farve really kind of did this to himself so I can't feel sorry for him, I would never trade a player like this to a division rival. This would have been like Marino going to play for the Patriots or Jets, no way we would have let that happen.

Heck no, several MLB players have this written into their contracts...they have the ability to waive it, but is exists for more then just Arod.
Also, if he does have say in that, it still doesn't mean that they can stop him from going there via trade. The Packers still have to do what's best for them and acquiring the talent or draft picks would be one thing. If they fail to get the compensation in which they are asking for, they wouldn't have to deal him to that team, even if he wanted to go there. What makes it difficult here is that he wants to go to a specific team and those teams don't have much to give back in return. The Packers could ask for a second rounder but which one of those three teams would give a second rounder for a guy who may play only one more year? The only team I could see doing that is the Buccaneers because they are superior to the other listed teams and they are probably one very good QB away from getting to the SB.

Yeah, well there will be no trade unless he renegotiates. No body will take on $13 million a year over the next three years or at least I think they'd be crazy to do so. The worst thing about this is that he is 38 years old and has been pondering retirement for the last 3(?) off-seasons. If anyone takes him, the compensation will probably be low for the Packers because they don't know if he will continue to play beyond this season. I personally wouldn't give up anything for him unless I know I was a Super Bowl ring away and it was his position that I would have to upgrade to get that.
