It's only a matter of time til Jenkins starts seeing more snaps. Been saying it since the end of last year. He's going to make the nickel LB competition interesting, imo.
I still don't understand why Tyler Larsen isn't getting a more serious look at center. Shelley Smith is having problems snapping and has never played center in his life. Sam Brenner is out. Larsen has around 50 college starts at center at the DI level. And his college stats were nice. Would it kill them to just give him a look with the first team...smh
The Miami Dolphins announced the signing of TE Brett Brackett, QB Seth Lobato and DE D’Aundre Reed on Tuesday. In order to make room for the three players, the Dolphins placed QB Brock Jensen, LB Derrell Johnson and G Davonte Wallace on waivers. Brackett, 26, actually signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State back in 2011, but was later waived from the team’s practice squad in September. He has since had brief stints with the Jaguars, Eagles and Cardinals. Lobato, 23, is another undrafted rookie who landed with the Colts in early May. At Northern Colorado he threw for 8,090 yards while completing 56.6 percent of his passes to go along with 53 touchdowns and 34 interceptions. Reed, 26, was drafted in the seventh round by the Vikings during the 2011 season. He has also played for the 49ers, Jaguars and the Los Angeles KISS of the arena league.

No, I've not got one and could see it ok. Abramson did tweet it again later, so link must have changed. Try this. Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP 8m New Dolphins QB Seth Lobato drops back for a pass while starter Ryan Tannehill and second stringer… http://instagram.com/p/rCcSfMFu0t/
Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP · 28s · Don't see Lamar Miller anywhere on the field. Will keep looking for him. Hopefully this is nothing EDIT: never mind: Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP · 40s · Lamar Miller is in fact out there, with his helmet on.
I don't know that I'd agree that Ellerbe is in no danger. His neck might not be on the chopping block this year because of contract structure, but next year?
Agree completely. If I am Ellerbe, no way I am sleeping easy thinking its my position all day. Jenkins is stepping up big time, and the coaches def. seem to like what they see in him.
If he becomes a legitimate receiving threat along with Clay, that would be something. Nevermind that I've been rooting for the guy since the "hard knocks" embarrassment.
Chris Perkins @chrisperk 33m Decent day for offense and defense. OL has moderate success. Defense not as disruptive as previous practices.
yeah thats what I meant..... thats what i meant...i´m so torn who is right and who is wrong....if Omar is tweeting it, it must be right...lol
All things being equal, Omar is always wrong. He is so tainted by bias, personal agenda, and arrogance, you can never take what he says seriously.
Here's a good collection of the training camp tweets from this morning: http://www.finheaven.com/showthread...Tweets&p=1065110196&viewfull=1-post1065110196 Some thoughts: -Wouldn't make too much of Jelani Jenkins subbing in for Dannell Ellerbe with the 1st unit as it appears Jordie Tripp also subbed in for Philip Wheeler with the 1st unit. This strikes me as some of the mix-and-match stuff we saw in the OTAs. -Lot of reports of touchdowns today but that's probably because they did red zone work. -I wouldn't be concerned about bad snaps from Shelley Smith. This is his first week. Be concerned if he's still doing them the week after his first preseason game. That's probably when the plug gets pulled, if it's still happening. You expect this issue to start low and get better gradually until it becomes a non-issue by season's start. But the first preseason game and possibly the week after it is where you could see the panic button hit. -With Sam Brenner getting carted off the field, expect a free agent signing today or tomorrow...most likely Samson Satele (welcome back, Samson!). -Even though we can't see him ourselves, Terrence Fede is impressing onlookers. Quietly he's becoming a guy that is used as a compliment when he's blocked well by a player (e.g. "Billy Turner did well against Fede, kudos Turner"). Also I remember Jimmy Wilson jumping up on twitter when Omar mentioned Fede and going out of his way to tell him he's a beast. Good buzz about him. I'll know more after the preseason game. -Damien Williams versus Damian Williams is easily as confusing as I feared it would be. -Between all the notes about Damian Williams, Brandon Gibson, Armon Binns and Jarvis Landry, it seems clear to me that this being a "whole new offense" hasn't changed Tannehill's tendency to lean on his slot receiver a la Ryan Swope.
I'm glad he said it because i sure have been thinking it. I haven't been hearing very many touchdowns.
I think Damian Williams is built for a half-speed setting. I'm not going to be impressed with him until I see him handling the physicality of real game settings and still making plays. That was his problem coming out and it continued to be his problem in the pros.
I'm wondering what they're going to put on the jerseys if they both make the roster! Probably the whole names, but that's going to be one packed name patch. Although the chance of them both making the full roster is slim...
Not sure I see a compelling reason to even roster a 6th wide receiver though. Look at the Eagles last year. If you believe this offense will approximate their offense, you will notice that 94% of all wide receiver snaps were taken by the top 3 receivers (DeSean Jackson, Riley Cooper and Jason Avant). The 4th guy Jeff Maehl got 129 snaps. Damaris Johnson only got 53 snaps. I think you keep hold of Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline, Brandon Gibson, Jarvis Landry and then that 5th spot comes down to Matt Hazel, Damian Williams, Armon Binns or Rishard Matthews. Not sure I see compelling enough talent to take up a 6th spot. The real issue is at tight end. I've never been a big fan of Dion Sims but they like him. They also obviously like Arthur Lynch. That's a problem because both Gator Hoskins and Michael Egnew are compelling players at the position. The offensive line is in such turmoil you may want to keep an extra body there as well. Then you've got the defensive line with Cameron Wake, Randy Starks, Jared Odrick, Olivier Vernon, Dion Jordan, Earl Mitchell, Derrick Shelby making up probably a top 7 that are going to make the roster. The problem is there are other guys like Terrence Fede, A.J. Francis and Anthony Johnson all looking very compelling. Would you really keep a 6th wide receiver over one of these guys? When you hit on one of these guys, the rewards are much higher, IMO.
