Don't know how the owners can justify a lockout. This system is clearly working tremendously for them as only 4 teams lost money and 90% of the total money lost by all those teams was the Nets, who are just a ridiculous outlier that ended up funding a lot of the smaller market teams.

Franchise values are through the roof and if the Bucks don;t get their arena deal done in 2 years Mallory's dad and the guy who loves Jason Kidd will match or exceed the $2 billion Clippers price to the remaining Seattle guys (and the NBA will allow the move if all arena efforts have failed.

Players are justified to strike but the public will always be against them. They don't even have an executive director. So, yeah, a hard cap is coming, possibly with non-guaranteed contracts. But there will be no max.

Remember...the Players can opt OUT of the CBA in 2017 to re-negotiate.

So essentially, players already understand what kind of a screw job happened last time, and you fully expect them to opt out?

    True.

Is this like the NFL where even though the league had opted out, they played under modified rules for a year during the negotiations?

Yes..because the TV deal runs a year past 2017 I believe. Networks will demand that a season be played.

    Sec,

Any chance that if we start striking out here, we essentially give the guys back their max deals for 2 years, use the MLE, room exception, etc., judiciously and try to have a clean sheet in 2016? Or, if they all get opt outs for next year, we could do this again and try and create max cap room for guys who might be worth it like Love and Marc Gasol.

I just think if we're not getting Deng or Lowry, two guys who could help you for multiple good years, we're better off just doing what we've been doing, which should still be good enough to get to the Finals and even win it, against anybody but San Antonio. Then keep a clean cap for 2016, when you can more justifiably get Wade to accept a low deal or let him go with minimal backlash, then let LBJ essentially pick his new team amongst Durant, Aldridge, whoever.

that's cute. can't help that our past players love our team. they got harden and dwight to sign.

the best player in heat history has only been there for 4 years. maybe he can help recruit himself.

First of all, take a joke and don't get all bent out of shape.

Second, the Heat's past players love the organization and many actually work there, like Alonzo Mourning, who by the way, was involved in the LeBron recruitment.

It's just funny that you have to drag guys from 20 years ago, who have no current ties to the organization (and Drexler is really identified with the Blazers) to assist with this pitch.

    Hell no.

You move on to plan B.

Seems that Channing Frye might be well priced. You can use the Mini-MLE as a cap team on Jameer Nelson...you can build the bench easily without a marquee name.

Tom Haberstroh did a statistical workup of this Heat team by just adding Nelson, Frye, Aminu, Udoh, CJ Miles and bringing back Birdman. Teh Heat projected to 65 wins and a Eff Diff of +10., which made theme the best Heat team yet.

You underestimate how little we got from spots 7 through 12 all year. All we really had was the Big 3, Rio, Bird, and Ray, last year. Cole was awful after the all-star break.

You really want to compare the Rockets history with the Heat? we can do that if you like.

Next time, take a joke..put the big red nose away and relax.

and the best "player" in Heat history might also be the best player in NBA history when it is all said and done, so maybe you should think before you type.

it is a simple "Click getting" scam on twitter.

The King of it is Alex Kennedy who has regurgitated the same exact report about 60 times for clicks.

I am however prohibited from posting any "news" on twitter, so I gotta live out my Wojo fantasy here.

Cavs fans have a joke that we're going to get "LeBron returning to Cavs?" stories every year until he retires - at which point they'll turn into "LeBron buying the Cavs?" stories.

The Rockets have to dump Jeremy Lin and a Balloon payment of $15 million in cash on some team..somewhere...for nothing. To be able to sign Melo.

If Morey can do that, give him Executive of the year, and whoever takes Lin should be fired.

Cavs reportedly offering Gordon Hayward a max deal (4yrs $64million).

Seems steep, but this is their last year with cap space so if they don't go out and try to grab some major talent now, they lose a ton of flexibility. Hayward is only 24 and gets to the line a ton, can shoot the 3, pass, and is fairly athletic. Saw a huge decrease in numbers last year when asked to be the top option. Let him play with Kyrie and Wiggins and I think it could be an awesome fit.

Too bad Utah will probably match.
