Of course Boozer is a great player, but he's a horrible defender. I really don't see any way around that notion - Boozer has been a terrible defender since he's entered the league, and I don't see a change in the future. We need to plug a guy in the middle who can defend exceptionally well, especially if Michael Beasley is going to play the 4.

And the remainder of the mid-level goes to.........

    LINK

Pat Riley obviously likes Chalmers even more than we initially thought. I've never seen a team go into the mid-level to lock up their 2nd-round selection, but it looks like the smart thing to do. Three year deal for cheap and we now have the right to match any offers sent his way once he becomes a free agent.

Give me Kwame Brown for the $1.9 million and call it an off season unless we can make a trade.......

I did not need to hear this...

This only gets me more excited about Chalmers...

It means that Riley thinks this kid is the real deal... and that these summer league performances are no summer league fluke.

Stay calm Nasty, he is just a rookie 2nd round pick....

So... when can I buy a Chalmers jersey? :D

Chalmers is really slashing. He has split 2 defenders atleast a few times in this game...

He is consistantly getting to the basket. Hes already had 10 free throws. And he also is driving and kicking well.

He just needs to get better at finishing once he gets there...

I don't think I'll ever watch another summer league game. There is no such thing as flow in the offense. Refs blow the whistle on every possession, on both sides. Seriously. I think Chalmers has like 14-15 free throws.

I've only been watching for about 5-10 minutes and I've seen at least 10 fouls.

In other words, summer league refs actually enforce the rules consistently.

I don't get the part of the rotation being stocked at the #3 and #4 and therefore haslem and marion will be elsewhere.

That would leave us with holes at the 3 and 4.

Haslem is a keeper for the power rotation. It makes ZERO sense to create a gaping hole in the power rotation to fill another hole.

I wouldnt have called the Ricky Davis trade the worst weve made. We cut the fat, literally, in trading Walker and a PF in Simien that we never used. Yea, we got Davis and Blount that really werent fits here, but I think we knew what we were getting. In other words, that trade just got rid of damaged goods and we didnt expect to get much in return.

    ^Love the avi, lol.

Orlando is negotiating with Jason Williams, and that is interesting for us because it may open up a sign-and-trade possibility. Can two players be sign-and-traded in the same deal? They're interested in J-Will; we're interested in Dooling. J.J. Redick is also an interesting name in case Cook is used to sweeten up a potential deal.

I would think that they can sign and trade both. The Magic stated earlier this off-season that they want Redick to play out his contract or be there at least another year. He doesn't want to be there though.

Btw, why do you guys want to get rid of Dequan Cook? He's a good player. A 6'5" Guard who can shoot the three. He shoot poorly last season but he's a pretty good three point shooter. Plus, as I look at his stats, it shows that he had 13 or more points in each of the last three games (13,16 &22). Averaged 9 ppg in 24 mpg. He had 29 double-digit scoring games in 59 games played.

I like Daequan Cook a ton, but if we're going to make a move, he may have to be included. For example, if Haslem is traded for a player like Kirk Hinrich (probably unlikely), then Cook would probably be required in the deal as well. He's a solid prospect, but not good enough to be a "deal breaker" at the moment.

Cook can also be used as an incentive to a team that takes on Blount or Banks.

I would be reluctant to give up Dequan Cook. I think he is a good, young talent. One big reason I would keep him is that if Dwyane Wade left in 2010, he could fill his position. I don't believe he could do what Wade did for the Heat but he could be a potential replacement if Wade was to leave (not saying that I think he will or he won't). Cook can certainly put up points as he proved it this past year, scoring in double-digits 29 times including four 20 point games.

Beasley is balling out. He has 13 points in the first half... but done very efficiently...

He also has had a couple of nice assist passes that players failed to convert on... including a layup.

Joel Anthony, who Alonzo Mourning likes a ton..

For those who are against Kwame Brown, no need to worry..

Jamaal Tinsley may be a possibility later in the summer..

I wouldn't even trade Mark Blount for Tinsley with that contract.

In all seriousness I'm suprised there hasnt been any crackdown on ref betting.
You would have to really naive to think that it was an isloated incident, and that it is limited to the NBA.

If the Clippers sign Okafor to an offer sheet averaging out to $10-12 million per season and it doesn't get matched, I'm going to be pretty disappointed. I'm sure Charlotte would take a marketable All-Star (Marion) on a one year rental in return for Okafor and a filler rather than losing out completely. Do it, Riles.
