    Exactly.

You're competing for a title immediately in Miami (or Chicago for that matter). In Miami you're no longer the guy with all the pressure and all the eyeballs on you, yet you're still a superstar. And you're going to have the most fun playing there.

Then again, he's a native New Yorker. Cleveland is small town. Being a Brooklyn native and leaving -- for MIAMI -- is something completely different.

But if he wants to win and have fun doing it, he comes to Miami. If he's going to sacrifice money, he might as well do it in a state with no income tax.

I don't think the 'ego' thing is as big a deal as some might. The Big 3 all have egos and they made it work. There'd certainly be an adjustment period for Melo. But the program is already in place. The template is proven. And at this stage of his career, it becomes about legacy. Melo knows how he's perceived and that one man can't do it alone. And he's watched the Big 3 brush off the potential backlash, blaze the trail and proceed to four straight Finals and 2-3 titles. Even though they're currently seen as villains by the public, their legacies are cemented. They are champions. And that changes everything.

OT: would be extra gratifying if Pat pulled one of these heists on Phil Jackson. NEW YORK Phil Jackson. :chuckle:

The question is whether they'd be making all that money elsewhere as well. Bosh can invest in real estate all over the country no matter where he is. Being with LeBron, Wade and Carmelo doesn't put him in better position to make more on real estate. It just takes money out of his pocket, and we're talking about tens of millions.

The same is true of Wade and LeBron too. I think when you jump from discussions about these guys giving up seven figures to be together, to discussions of these guys giving up EIGHT figures to be together, it just takes it to a new level.

As per Barry Jackson, Chris Bosh says there have been no discussions amongst the players (to his knowledge) about Melo joining the team and he believes it to be very, very unlikely to happen. On the other hand, Udonis Haslem has kind of an "anything is possible" attitude about it.

Dwyane Wade and LeBron are still getting back those eight figures I think.

Wade is very popular in China. The Chinese are notorious for only liking "winners". If Wade is a first or second round loser in the playoffs, that likely kills a lot of his popularity in China. Wade actually has a good amount of equity in Li Ning, and I have to think that being a mainstay in the NBA Finals helps their popularity tremendously. Take it a step further...how many seasons will Wade's career be extended because of the talent he has around him? He could easily take on a 6th man role, and play until he is 40.

LeBron is making $60MM+ per year from endorsements. Thats not including the $30MM+ he just pocketed from the Beats deal. He could be making anywhere up to $100MM/yr. outside of basketball IMO. Is he making that much if he isn't winning championships? Is he selling as many sneakers if he's not making the Finals four consecutive times?

They really should be giving Bosh the most money. He is benefiting in the least from endorsements. But even then, Chris Bosh is a much more recognizable figure now than he ever was when he was with the Raptors.

Bottom line...these three can walk into any store in Miami and get whatever they want for free if they want. They are guaranteed to be taken care of by this organization for life as long as they don't abandon it.

Funny you took it that way. I took it as Riley using Windhorst to get this to Melo without tampering.

I don't believe that any of the three make nearly as much on endorsements if they stop winning championships. Lebron would be be hurt the least, but I would guess that all three of them would see their next endorsement deals drop far more than $10 million each if they joined teams where they were not championship contenders.

The rumor from "sources" on the RealGM boards is that Bosh and Lebron are all in but that Wade is not onboard with a pay cut.

I think it probably started with an interview I read where Wade said they shouldn't "Have to give up anything" but I think he was talking more about the fact that none of them are losing anything, they are winning overall.

    Get off my lawn.
I personally think it would be awesome if Bron, Bosh, and Wade just played stupid games with the media until signing day... next up, we need Bron on record saying "Melo who?"

Just don't come out flat again. I mean if we lose...go down fighting but please don't look like we don't care. That is embarrassing.

When Manu is in on Wade we need to attack him, but all other times the offense should be run through Lebron.
