Here is a question...random and far off. How many years do you guys think Lebron plays in the NBA? Or retirement age I guess.

Yep. I've met him a few times. I was born and raised in Detroit, before moving to Arkansas. Almost my entire family is from Detroit. My uncle played high school ball with Jalen. They're still cool with each other. One of the reasons i continue to follow Jalen's post playing career. He's just a good, down to earth dude.

I will say this...If Melo goes to Miami, ya'll are winning the next 5 for sure. Thats asinine. Hopefully Silver steps in like David Stern a la Chris Paul to LAL and calling it a "competitive balance issue" and the players union complains about elite players taking pay cuts, both legitimate gripes. It would make the product completely transparent imo.

Those of you who dislike Melo, would love him in a Heat uniform. There is no spot on the floor he cant score from.

How's that a legitimate gripe? If player A WANTS to player with players B, C and D, and they are all willing to get paid less, who the hell can stop them?

How is it unfair? If all guys are free agents that means they can sign for whatever they want.

I dont think anyone hates Melo. Some just question his defense.

I can't imagine how efficient he would be here.

There is zero chance of this. NBAPA would never block player movement via Free Agency.

Those things are just absolutely untrue. The whole point of free agent was so players can decide their market value. Everyone knows the market value of Melo and James and Wade and Bosh. Those are all Max or close to max players. Its not player movement they would discourage, its setting a precedent for owners to take a hard line in negotiations with other players. Think about how the rest of the league would react outside Miami.

    Melo and Love though?

How they react is of no concern to us. Or Riley. it wasn't in 2010. The New CBA is friendlier in this regard with it's punitive taxes, that Micky Arison is evidently wiping his *** with.

I don't think it happens regardless. Just seems so convoluted to try and get it all to work and all of the players involved would lose so much money. Yeah they'll get endorsements but they were going to get endorsements anyway. The delta isn't enough, IMO.

Its one thing when 3 players take a million or so less then the max. Its another when they start taking 6-8 million per season less. Go get Lance Stephenson or something and he can blow on Lebron more. lol

LOL, I wouldnt be if it wasnt the damn Heat. Like I said, your team is the Jets equivalent in the NBA.

    CK..think about this.

Wade's current contract, represents less than 40% of his TOTAL yearly income. Lebron's even less. Bosh is a savvy real estate investor.

They are not "losing" that much money. They are not "hurting" for it.

I don't think either are legitimate gripes. People will call for something like that and call it unfair, but it's a player's prerogative to sign wherever they want and take whatever kind of discount they want. Is the NBA going to make it illegal for any player to take a discount, and how would they determine that? It's a road you really can't go down. And the Paul thing was a completely different matter. The league owned the Hornets, that's the only way they were able to veto that trade. Also, that was a trade, not a FA contract. I don't see how the NBA would have a leg to stand on with this, good for the league or not.

rofl. You. Wish. ......Yeah just like the jets except with national popularity, tremendous success and a good team loaded with talent.... Since when are the jets the most popular team in the country with consecutive championships????........Sec beat me to it. We are A lot closer to the early 2000s New England dynasty, except better. If anyone is top 3 consideration for the New York Jets of the NBA its the New York Knicks. Ez. I wonder why Melo would bail on his team just to join the Jets... hmm

I can't even think about this right now. Let's focus on THIS final and then consider what might be.

If we do sign Melo though do we break out the "Not 1, Not 2, Not 3, Not 4...." Video every week for the next few years?

First thing first....Joey Crawford in the house tonight.

    Timmy could get tossed, lol.

Back to Carmelo for just a moment, the more I think about it, the more it's a no brainer for Melo to come here if we can make it work.

The first thing Phil tells him when he gets to NY is that he would like Melo to take less money so they can get more players. In order to put multiple stars on a team the best guys almost have to take less money.

If Melo has to do that anyway, why not just come here with your friends and an organization that is proven? Why take less and hope that the Knicks get it together? Why take less and have Tom Thibodeau grind you into the ground trying to win a meaningless game in February?

Just watch him in the 2012 Olympics:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxqQX2Do6Bw

He will just hang out in the corners and hit all the open 3s LeBron creates. Guy would shoot 47% from 3pt line.

I would run my lineups to where I always had either the combo of Wade and Bosh or Lebron and Carmelo on the floor. I mean obviously you run with all four at times, mix and match three at times. But just always have at least those two combos.

Anyway much more pessing matters at hand. We not only need to win tonight but a statement game would be nice.

I actually feel pretty good about our ability to win game five in SA as long as we aren't talking a Tony Brothers crew. This team just comes out focused on the road in big games.

Call me crazy but I question the timing of this Melo stuff. All you see is "Heat stars mulling....." Let me make this clear, they are mulling **** right now except trying to get dubs....

You think LBJ after Game 1 was like "They trying to smoke us out......you know what we need Melo is off"...

come on.......this is a nice media ploy to get the Heat star distracted to the task at hand.....have they thought about it? Maybe maybe not, but if they did they sure as hell thought about it BEFORE the playoffs started so why is this breaking now?

    I am calling bull****...

The one thing you guys are forgetting with melo is ego. He's got a massive one and he loves the attention. He thinks he is on the level of Lebron and the biggest thing is I don't think he would want to play second fiddle. To anyone. If he does leave I think it Miami or Houston. I'm starting more and more to think he's gone if he opts out and staying if he opts in

These rumors arent new. There has been speculation since before this season started and Jalen predicted it game 50 or so.

Also these are sources inside the Heat saying this. Not just reporters.

    From an ESPN article

Chicago, Houston and Dallas are teams Anthony will consider starting July 1, sources say, if the 30-year-old does decide to become a free agent this summer. But it's believed the opportunity to join James in Miami would trump all other options, especially after Anthony made it a point earlier this season in an interview for NBA TV to say how "smart" James was to join forces with Wade and Bosh when he did.
