That was a Dark Horse/DC book, right? I loved the work they did with 'Aliens', 'Predator' 'AvP' and others. I remember the Batman/Predator book a little, my comic collection disappeared at a yard sale to pay for my rehab. j/k about the rehab, but not the yard sale.
Weird, everyone I know loved his Joker. I don't think u like Nicholson so its not going to work for you. I do think it was excellent, the 1st batman movie was very good for me. Honestly you and a small handful of people dont like that performance, it was very well taken when the movie came out. It is right out of the comics as well. Looking forward to a different take as Batman Begins was the best Batman movie so far.
I'm actually a HUGE Nicholson fan...but you have to admit, much like Deniro lately and Jeff Goldblum ALL the time, all his roles are the same.
Yea its been a while since theres been a great Deniro or Nicholson role thats for sure. Departed was close for Nicholson but not that great. I'm really looking forward to this new movie, its sad that it has the Ledger tragedy to go with it but I will be there opening night unless something unforseen happens.
Hey pagan, have you seen a Nicholson movie called The Pledge? I highly recommend it. My jaw was on the floor at the end of the movie.
Actually haven't seen that one. Haven't seen "About Schmidt" either, even though I bought the DVD. Gotta watch those two...
The Real Two Face Pics: http://s16.photobucket.com/albums/b45/joma1124/Dark Knight movie camera picutres/?start=0 Def a few spoilers in there so view at your own discretion.
hope not... the joker had a really minimal appearence in long halloween... that was a two face origins book with more to do with the holliday killer than the joker. Jeph Loeb is so utterly overrated it annoys me to see people still like him.
See the Bat-Pod and Tumbler in a city near you. Places and Times http://www.superherotimes.com/newsarchive/003541.php
and John Woo movies and Indiana Jones movie where the boat is crushed and explodes for no reason. I loved the part on Faceoff where the boat its a ramp and then explodes. A ramp. How does that cause a boat to explode? The bottom touches air and boom!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNIeuOz2VN0 It would be hard to find the guy, someone got pissed though the pics were removed.
Another great review of The Dark Knight. http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/movie/16155928/review/21477208/the_dark_knight I'm going to have to check this out in IMAX next Friday afternoon, I really can't wait.
Just caught the review of Michael Phillips and Richard Roeper. They both really liked it. Roeper said it would be ashame if Ledger didn't get an Oscar nom and made a point to say it wasn't just because of his untimely death. Essentially they said about the same thing everyone else has, which is its one of the best comic book movies ever. Roeper even suggested it should get best picture consideration. I got chills up my back watching their review and the clips they showed. Thank God this week is finally here.
Wow....Roeper and Phillips LOVED it. Talking about "best picture" material! A comic book film getting a best picture nomination? Can you imagine? All that review did was get me MORE excited to see this thing.
Stranger things have happened. Star Wars had a best pic nom in 77. I'm just worried the hype will make things a bit out of control. Pretty much what I've gathered is Dark Knight is not bad, Joker (Ledger) is phenomenal. That's enough for me. And I finally got a seat at the IMAX at the Bridge Cinema De Lux. Right in the first row, so neck is going to be sore...
Time magazine now chimes in with a glowing review. http://www.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,1821365,00.html
Yes I'm exited to see it but not everyone loves it Down to 88% on rotten tomatoes (go to website to read full review) David Denby New Yorker This movie is grim and jammed together. The narrative isn't shaped coherently to bring out contrasts and build toward a satisfying climax. The Dark Knight is constant climax; it's always in a frenzy, and it goes on forever. David Edelstein New York Magazine The Dark Knight is noisy, jumbled, and sadistic. Marshall Fine Star Magazine This movie is too in love with itself to make you love it
I've read enough good reviews that I'll safely say that most of the negative reviews are coming from distorted expectations. I think a lot of reviews are blown away that a comic book movie can be this good. And the negative reviews I've read fall into two categories, either it is too serious a movie to be enjoyed as a comic book movie, or it is still a comic book movie so they refuse to take it seriously.
Got tix for the IMAX on the Saturday at 3:15 in the afternoon and the following Wednesday (have to see it with two different people that can't go on the same day). Can't wait!
Palos Verdes. I still commute to Westwood and sometimes I stay at a friend's apartment about a block from campus.
I had a nightmare that I was at the first showing and as the movie was about to start the joker came on screen, laughed at us, and then showed Space Chimps. It was double worse knowing I have to wait until next to see TDK.
