What are your thoughts on Lysa's murder?
I'm wondering how they are going to explain her death. In the books the singer was there who they blamed the murder on. How are they going to explain her death on the tv show?

    Meereen. :shifty:

As for the interest level of the Meereeneese Knot, I refer you to SPOILERS AHEAD this blog. The Meereen arc becomes more compelling on subsequent reads.

I've never found her terribly interesting, so I'm not really the one to ask about this. In the books, Dany is a vehicle to deliver some of the series mytharc stuff. The TV show is cutting a LOT of that out—the House of the Undying in the books was way, way creepier and revealed more information than the TV show did, for instance.

But yeah, Dany's book arc is basically a teenage girl trying to be what she thinks is queenly.

Is that blog's existence based on trying to make the 4th and 5th books interesting?

I liked Dany when she started to move from city to city and kicking butt with Strong Belwas.

    *sniff* Strong Belwas.

Maybe I should read the 4th and 5th books again. I don't really want to though.

It's an analysis of Dany's chapters in ADWD in an attempt to figure out what the hell is going on. It makes a lot of sense and winds up making the chapters interesting as a result.

It's being reported in a few places that season 5's location scouting is in full swing.

They're scouting the Andalusia region in Spain, which presumably would serve as the set for Sunspear, the capital of Dorne.

No word on character casting. That'll probably stay under wraps for a while.

Spoilers at link: the new characters for season 5 have been leaked. There are a couple of names from the books missing, though, and I'm hoping this list is just incomplete.

Oberyn is uncompromising. He does what he wants, when he wants, how he wants. While he wanted revenge on the Mountain for the act of killing his family, the Mountain was an appetizer. The Mountain is the only one alive who could finger Tywin Lannister in the plot to kill Princess Elia and her children. As he told Tyrion, he was in King's Landing to get justice from everyone who wronged him. It had nothing to do with overconfidence. There was a purpose to this fight beyond simple murder. Because he is uncompromising in his quest, he didn't finish the job when he had the chance and it cost him.

Episode 9 next week, folks... Which means the biggest and best episode of the season.

Is that how Bronco fans saw it after the Super Bowl? Can't believe he pulled an Ogre from Bloodsport. I keep hearing "Yeah, I got him Franky!!" Over and over and over....

Oh yea, that scene was like a combination of Princess Bride and Bloodsport. I kept on thinking, "My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die." Just a less happy ending.

Two more episodes left. What is the over/under on main character dying?

I'd be stunned if Tyrion died this season. You can't kill everybody! Something has to give there. A point can come when you lose too many lynchpins to the story.

I'm sure the book readers are all smirking at my pain!!!

And I'm thinking 3 on the O/U. Someone from the Stanis Story arc maybe, or at least the Reek/Ramsey, and/or the battle at the wall against the wildlings.

I sympathize. I was feeling the same pain. In fact I felt a little worse because Tyrion in the book had a lot more agency and watching his awesome elaborate plan fail when he was so close to winning was crushing.

This book reader is smirking because none of you have learned that nothing plays out the way you think it will, yet it's so obvious in hindsight.

There are 3 bigger "holy ****" moments coming. One is probably the end of ep 9, and the other is probably the end of ep 10. The third is tough to say, it fits in either 9 or 10.

Well it all depends if they are good holy **** or bad holy **** moments. Tyrion's execution getting carried out wouldn't be a holy **** moment, as that is what is supposed to happen as of the moment. Something may happen around that event...Something is going to happen at the wall too I think.

And yeah, I pull for Tyrion and thus Oberyn. Laid it on a bit thick before the match too. But it certainly wasn't as obvious as in Bloodsport, when Ogre assumed Bolo Yueng was beat.

I Loved Arya laughed hysterically when she found out her aunt was dead. She is reacting to absurdity of her situation as show viewer would.

This budding love story between Grey Worm and Missandei is odd. I guess it could be interesting to explore the feelings of a Eunuch, but ultimately what kind of resolution will it have? I feel we already saw the best part of this story arc during the river bathing scene.

Ramsay killed all of the Iron Born surrenders right? I didn't hear line clearly after they flayed axe-head once they were in Moat Cailin

Even though the Mountain "won", he took some injuries. It looked like Oberyn cut his achilles. If that's the case, he's going to be laid low for a while. No spoiler replies, please.

He may have, but I didn't see any indication of that. I've always likened Gregor to be bigger version of king Robert. Strong to a fault where a mere man couldn't take him down
