lol, that's even more annoying. Add Maggette to that team and they are contenders in the West. (and better than Philly) Maybe not top 2 or 3 but they're easily in the playoffs with a chance to do some dmg. Davis/Maggette/Thornton/Brand/Kaman/Mobley/Gordon...oh what could have been.
That would have been a legit contender in the West, which is essentially whoever's in the top 6. For all the talk of Philly in the East, if they can't manage to re-sign Iguodala, they go from top 4-5 to bottom of the East playoff charts. I rank Orlando above them and maybe Cleveland if they retained AI2. If they don't, that drops them in my opinion.
At first, I thought it was silly too, but if you look at the numbers, it's not as crazy as at first blush. Turiaf had a 15.0 PER last year, and 15.5 the year before. (By comparison, Heat fan fave Udonis Haslem rated 13.7 and 12.7 the last two years.) Per 36 minutes, his numbers for the last two years translate to 13 points and 8 boards per game. And at age 25, it's still possible that he's got some improvement left. If you can get slightly-above-average production from a starting power forward for about $4M per year, that's not a bad deal at all.
How am I going to go on being a T-wolf fan if Players they trade continue to kick ***. Damn you Wolves for trading away Chalmers!
Well I hope he gets into the HOF because I've got a lot of autographed jerseys, shirts, basketballs, etc.
It's one preseason game, dude. Calm down. Have some valium. Yes, you do. Turiaf has been a Laker for three years, so you can exceed the cap to sign him.
Milwaukee's FO is overloaded with drug abuse.. LINK Seriously, I love Bogut's potential, but what the HELL has he done in his career thus far to earn an average of $14.5 million per season? What a horrendous market. No wonder Desegana Diop receives the full mid-level..
NBA News: The Nets are hoping that their new addition Yi Jianlin can draw attention all around the world. The Nets are hoping that that Yi can bring Chinese fans around the world will become fans of them. Also, the Nets are hoping that Yi can bring success to them. Nets owner Bruce Ratner was quoted as saying " this was a strictly a basketball move." The Pacers trade of Jermaine O'Neal to the Raptors in exchange for Rasho Nesterovic, Marco Basten, T.J. Ford, the 17th overall pick (Roy Hibbert) and rights to Nathan Jawai was made official on Wednesday. Via ESPN.
Good article by Adande about the Brand situation. At least the Clippers are getting some sympathy lol. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=adande_ja&page=Brand-Clippers-080709
wow....bogut is a bust...his potential isn't even that great imo...lol bucks are stuck with him for atleast 4 more years
He shows signs though. He's still better than 50 percent of the power forwards most teams try to get away with playing center.
Thats good because the Nets average attendance is about 19 people. Its pathetic. Nobody cares about the Nets and their foolish to think the attendance will improve when they just traded away the organizations two most popular players (Vince Carter, although better than Jefferson, is third, or was third, to Kidd and Jefferson). Sure, a few more Chinese people at the game not knowing whats going on. Awesome. Like I care anyway. The Nets are so sad you can buy one season ticket anywhere, get one free, and get a Yi jersey free with it.
I mean if you buy one season ticket you get another one FREE. So say you want Section 124, Row 31, Seat 1. Well you'll get Seat 2 with it and a Yi jersey -- BOTH FOR FREE. You're paying for one seat while getting two and a jersey.
http://www.latimes.com/sports/basketball/nba/clippers/la-sp-clipside10-2008jul10,0,361098.story I know Okafor's been playing in Howard's shadow but he's a pretty good player in his own right.
don't see the hype in chalmers, he is decent..probably steve blake like imo....one clutch shot then he is AI...
Is anyone really surprised by what Brand did? I mean, really--this isn't the first time he's left a team at the altar. I feel sorry for Baron Davis, though. I wonder if he's demanded a trade yet.
Considering he's a Dukie, nope. I think Davis will wait and see what the Clippers do next with Smith and Okafor before doing anything. He's not a Dukie so I guess he won't break his word. But maybe Sterling will have pity and agree on a sign and trade.
He already signed on the dotted line and had the press conference. To me, that counts as getting jilted.
It isnt comparable at all. Restricted free agent...Clippers controlled his rights. You cant blame him for that.
If he had been honest no one would have blamed him for wanting to leave the Clippers; not even Clipper fans. A guy who tries to come across as so trustworthy and honest, if he had just stuck with that he would have saved himself a lot of grief. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-plaschke10-2008jul10,0,5741780.column
Bogut made some real improvement from 2006-7 to last year. His PER jumped to 17.5, a full two point increase. He became a decent shot blocker (1.7 per game), and what impressed me is that he commits very few turnovers, and is a pretty good passing big man (his A/TO ratio for his career is 1.3/1, which is practically Bill Walton-esque). So, he's a fundamentally sound player who works hard, makes shots, doesn't make a ton of mistakes and seems to be getting better. Is that worth $14.5M per season? Not in and of itself. My guess is they're banking on continued improvement from him to justify that deal. I don't know how much they expect, though. He'll be 24 in November with 3 full seasons under his belt. I don't know that he's going to get THAT much better. Maybe a bit, but if the Bucks think they're getting a healthier, more Anglicized version of Yao Ming, they're clearly mistaken.
Mario Chalmers will probably be a solid third guard in the pros and nothing more. He's not the answer at point guard.
So, what is the deal with Okafor? Is he a RFA this year, and an URFA next year? I am looking at him as a serious target of the Heat. Any info on him?
He is looking pretty damn good so far. He is really looking like a 10-11 ppg 6-7 apg guy as a starter... He really really really looks like a steal. he can defend and shoot, and the heat went into their ML to lock him up for another year. it sure seems we got a steal.
