I don't think Seattle realistically had a good enough package for Price. I mean I like Walker and all but Nick Franklin or Brad Miller is underwhelming to me.

Might take high 80s in wins to win the division with every team so beat up and beating up on each other.

I would be worried about the Yankee rotation right now moving forward. They didn't have much depth at SPing going into the season and their whole rotation is a bit of a question mark as the year goes on as Kuroda for the past 3 seasons isn't the same pitching once August hits, who knows how Pineda will do with a heavy work load, ditto for Tanaka and who knows what CC will give them in terms of production this year. The Nova injury is not good for them.

For the first time all year the 2014 Red Sox played like the 2013 Red Sox. It was nice to watch.

Sox have now won 4 out of their last 5, now have 12 of the next 15 at home, Victorino and Middlebrooks should be back by the weekend, perhaps this is the start of the team to get going.

I think it is safe to say that every team in the AL East and their respective rotations have question marks....I think all teams should be worried...

I think every team in baseball has question marks with their rotation, so yes that's true. However I do think the Yankees, with losing Nova, has bigger question marks now than any of the other teams in the division especially when you factor in the depth that they have in their major & minor leagues. I do admit I'm not sure about the Blue Jays either though and what they have readily available in their system.

The reason why I think the Yankees have rotation problems moving forward is because of Kuroda, Sabathia, Tanaka and Pineda. Now Pineda and Tanaka have been great so far, no doubt about it. I think both will be good for the rest of the year too however the Yankees are still counting on someone that hasn't thrown a MLB pitch since 2011 because of a major surgery injury before this season and Tanaka is unknown that's never made 30 plus starts pitching on 4 days rest so we don't know how the workload will effect him. I think Kuroda is a very good and underrated pitcher but come August he just isn't the same guy for the past 3 years. And who really knows what Sabathia is now. And most importantly who's going to replace them if someone else goes down?

They just don't appear to have the depth the other teams in the division do right now. And of course that doesn't mean they can't get a random "Aaron Small" to come in and pitch over his head and save them but that doesn't happen a lot.

He couldn't even get out of the 3rd inning today. Just leaving way too many pitches on the fat part of the plate and his fastball velocity is still in the low 90s/high 80s.

Right. Thankfully the Sox are pretty deep at the moment in SP depth. Realistically they have Capuano, Workman, Webster and De La Rosa that can step into the starting rotation now, Ranuado and Barnes probably by mid-season and possibly, although a long shot, of Henry Owens by September.

Agree on Capuano. I think the role he's in is much better for him and the team. As far as the others, yes they are unproven however would you rather take a shot with them who are all higher regarded, or go with equally unproven guys like Vidal Nuno, Shane Green and Bryan Mitchell with lesser skill sets/stuff? Basically would you rather have the Red Sox depth or the Yankees right now?

Depth is certainly nice to have and dont take this the wrong way but it means nothing to me, I think guys that come in with fancy minor league numbers, it is all well and good but it doesn't mean automatically they are going to perform at the major league level....because again how they perform when they get to the bigs is entirely different....baseball is literally the hardest sport to judge IMO....

Guys like Webster and De La Rosa have been underwhelming to me...does that mean they are busts? Nope, Does it mean they can be HoF'ers? Yup.....Everybody comes up with a blank slate to me I judge on the MLB level......

    Now answering your point.....

I would obviously rather have the Red Sox depth you boob!!!!!

Oh I certainly agree. The point being the Yankees don't seemingly have the depth other teams do which is why I'd be worried. Usually the teams that have the most depth/have the least amount of injuries are the ones standing at the end of the year. So while a team like the Yankees that don't have the depth other teams has doesn't mean they can't be good. Baseball is weird and wacky and who knows maybe the Yankees top 4 starts all make 35 plus starts this year so the 5th spot doesn't matter as much.

Tough loss for the Sox today. Buchholz put them in a 6-0 hole very early but the bats at least fought back and had the go ahead run up at the plate or on the bases in the 7th, 8th and 9th inning. The bats are slowly starting to come around and the team can't get Victorino and Middlebrooks back soon enough.

It looks like, at least right now that when Victorino comes back Nava might actually be the odd man out since he still has minor league options, has been struggling and JBJ has been playing really well and Sizemore's defense in CF hasn't been as good. Well see though.

I would doubt it as they would have to send down Herrera who is their back up SS and is a better defender than Holt but who knows.

Yeah there's really no juice anymore in the "rivarly". Plus I think these two teams playing so early in the season takes a lot away from it too. Their first series should really be Memorial Day week/weekend.

As far as Tanaka goes, he did beat the Jays who have a pretty decent line up, obviously the Cubs don't. The Sox line up is inconsisent at best right now so I wouldn't put too much stock into the start good or bad. I think the real test for Tanaka will be in the 2nd half of the year once teams have a scouting report on him and faced him multiple times.

Either way Lester/Tanaka should be a fun good.

Think maybe the Sox should take some infield and outfield practice a few times this week. Last night's game was pretty ugly.

I know it's early in the season but I already dislike the AJ Pierzynski signing. Bring me Christian Vazquez.

Sox are apparently going to make a move before tonight's game. Originally Victorino was going to be off the DL but the Sox will bring up a pitcher because the bullpen was worked hard the last 2 days so I'm guessing Nava goes down for Alex Wilson or Allen Webster.

Isn't baseball amazing Suzyn? 8 runs 3 earned? Yeah the defense let them down for sure.....

I thought the reception that Ellsbury got was nice, I mean it was 50/50 but honestly the people booing don't remember the Sox never offered him a contract...

You very rarely IF EVER see this happen to Papi, so when it does it needs to be posted......

I was actually kind of surprised by the reaction he did get. I thought it would have been louder whether it was cheers or boos. It was kind of, I don't know maybe luke warm?

I don't think the "real" fans were booing him, definitely not holding up signs that said "$ell$bury" or whatever else people held. The guy played hard everyday he was in the line up and helped us win 2 WS titles. He should have been cheered his first at bat and then if you want to boo him if he does something good against the team that's fair.

It was nice the Sox played a video tribute to him though. You can tell there are no hard feelings between Ellsbury and the franchise, everyone knows it was a business discussion and the Sox weren't going to pay him the kind of money he ended up getting.

I'm really interested in seeing the reaction to Cano's first YS at bat. Yankee fans have never been in this situation before where a superstar leaves their team for more money. Will be interesting and fun.

I agree I think it was very classy of what the Sox did, they also played his "walk-up" song when he came up to his first AB....

Cano? They are going to boo the **** out of him and rightfully so because NY did offer him 20+ at less years....at that point not saying he shouldn't have taken the money from Seattle, but it is give and take as well...Even though he cashes a nice check every week, deep down you have to think he is already second guessing it....Seattle isn't just going to go out and get him talent in that lineup like NY would do....he would have been the next Captain, revered in a City where baseball wise there aren't many better to be at, instead he is in baseball purgatory the only guy in a lineup who sees maybe 2 pitches a night to hit...

Agree with everything but him being the next Yankee captain. The Yankees just don't go throwing that out for any player and I don't think Cano would really be much of a captain or is that type of player, especially with his sometimes "don't hustle" attitude. The media would kill him everytime he seemed to dog it on plays and mock him as being captain.

And I think Cano was already revered in the city.

So far the only positives with the Red Sox have been in their minor leagues:

    http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/bo...ble-manuel-margot-mashes-aaron-kurcz-returns/

Nice to see Rubby De La Rosa get off to a good start to the season, hopefully he is finally turning the corner. Matt Barnes is scheduled to make his first start of the year on Friday.

Mookie Betts has just been fantastic and looks like he's going to be a star player and with a name like Mookie Betts everyone should be rooting for him. Blake Swihart has also played well so far this year.

Other names to make mental notes on are Manuel Margot, Rafael Devers and Wendell Rijo. All 3 are very young and very raw but have a lot of tools and promise.

David Price was filthy last night. He gave up a solo homerun and 2 run homerun. But other then that, he didnt give up any other runs, and he struck out 12 in a complete game.
