Damn Beasley. I heard he played only 23 minutes. That's crazy.

Chalmers is my dawg. Good player, just watch.

It's glorified practice. If Beasley's averaging 20 points in 25 minutes for the first 15 games of the regular season, and we have a 10-5 record, THEN I'll throw a party. (Free beer!)

Dwyane Wade's first summer league game was turnover riddled and flat out horrible. Earl Barron on the other hand completely dominated the SL for two consecutive summers.

So yes, true, but hey.. it's all we have right now. I look for more than numbers in the summer league due to the lack of competition. I'm looking for defensive effort, on court leadership, aggression, etc. Beasley did well in all aspects today from what I saw. On second thought, he went up against Jakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas; two recent high draft choices who are already somewhat seasoned. This was a legit test for Beasley as both of those players look to play heavy minutes for the Chicago Bulls this year. But I do agree that we can't take too much from this.

They're not cool man. Only reason you see SVG there is because Riley told him there would be free food.

    Mike Wallace on 790:

(On guys that are gone and guys that can stick)

he sees Ricky Davis, and J-Will not being extended an invite back. Quinn is in trouble if they sign a Dooling or Pargo. Barron is gone. Lasme and Powell have outside shots to stick.

Marion will only get dealt for a player that would be a part of the future and that does not hurt our cap situation in 09'. (so forget the brand move)

Riley has attempted to trade for Mike Miller at least 3 times and they were offered one deal on draft day that they flat out turned down. The interest in Mike Miller is obviously real.

Its pretty funny how ESPN made the highlights look like Beasley and Rose played equally well.

Rose had a couple of sweet drives... but wasnt that impressive. Chalmers abused him on both ends of the floor... frustrating Rose with defense... and blowing right by Rose on offense...

Chalmers has me even more excited than Beasley...

Yeah I saw that highlight. I was thinking " He didn't play to bad as some made it seem". But his numbers weren't too good. They definitely made him look good out there. The couple of drives that he had looked nice.

On 790, Sedano said that the most realistic (and probable) trade scenario is Shawn Marion for Lamar Odom and a filler. He stated that Miami wants a third guy to keep with the core, and Marion is unlikely to accept an extension around $6-8 million per. If Marion was to work around such a deal, he'd of probably been extended this summer as Miami likes him a lot. Marion wants the big bucks. Odom on the other hand, knows he'll never touch $14 million per again, and will be 30 in 2010 when he expires. He'd probably settle for mid-level or slightly higher money, in which we can sign a guy and still keep him.

Say for example, Miami signs Okafor next summer at $10-12 million per, we can extend Wade and Odom in 2010 and have a core of Wade, Beasley, Okafor, and Odom. Hopefully Chalmers is good enough to be called a "core" member as well. We'll still have Haslem on the team to fish us some talent, too. Can you imagine adding Kirk Hinrich to that squad? 1-5 of Hinrich, Wade, Odom, Beasley, Okafor? Title.

EDIT: or does Odom expire next summer? An article that I read not too long ago said 2010, Hoops Hype has 2009

1-13 is pretty brutal. That'll bring him down to earth a little after the local talk shows here anointed him as a future HOF'er.

Nice to hear Chalmers is ripping the net. Ive always said playing great defense is like hitting home runs, if you can do it well a team will find a place for you. Anything else that guy does is a bonus IMO.

Chalmers is driving and kicking very well. And he can really bullet his passes from underneith the basket all the way out to the arch... and finding guys wide open for 3.

Orlando signed Pietrus; that sucks. Solid defender who can pop the corner three like Bruce Bowen, with crazy athleticism who just couldn't find his niche in Nellie's flawed system. Solid pick up for them. I really wanted him here last year. Thought he'd be a no brainer to sign with Miami this summer due to how bad he wanted to play here last year, and how bad we wanted him.

Oh well, word is that Miami has agreed to terms with James Jones. Reliable poster on RealGM with connections says that it'll be announced today or tomorrow. VERY solid pick up. He'll play the Kapono role off the bench, except he's actually an athletic player who can defend. Hometown kid who played college ball at UM. Riley tried to pick him up via trade last summer when we failed to re-sign Posey or Kapono.

This guy is easily one of the best three point shooters in the association. Top 5-10, IMO. Career numbers from three point land are simply beautiful: 358/898 - 39.9% which is absolutely top notch. He shot 44.4% from three last year, which had to be in the top 5 or so.

that'd be a good pickup for the heat, i loved him this year and was hoping he would resign....he's solid everywhere in his game...his game isn't athletic, he can defend but no lockdown defender
