If its off the coast of southern South America than the Cthulhu theory has legs.

    Live from the Internet.
Buddy of mine and I orchestrated one helluva comeback on Rogue Transmission. Down by just under 300 points and cameback. They had 35 or so tickets left when we won, man it felt great.

Nice. Whatever bug they were fixing must not have been super critical.

Can't wait for these maps. Paracel Storm is one of my favorites, and we now have an entire DLC built around the same concept as Paracel Storm.

I'm excited too. Although, I don't think anything will beat Paracel Storm - one of my favs as well. The immersion is amazing. The new maps won't feel as authentic IMO. I hope I am wrong though.

Also, Carrier Assault is broken because once the ships hull gets opened there are parachute spawn points above the enemy carrier. Essentially, the first team to open up the opposing carrier wins. Kind of defeats the purpose of "Naval Strike" if you can just parachute onto the carrier. Imagine how much better if you are defending the carrier and you see two attack boats and a bunch of jet skis coming your way? The entire community is complaining about it, among other issues with CA (cheap mcom stations) so hopefully at least that gets addressed in the future. Will reserve further judgement until I play though.

I don't have an issue in theory with parachute points above a carrier. Will have to see how it plays out though.

Played three or four rounds. Way too quick of a game. Then again I played on a 32 player server. Should try it out on a 64. Otherwise, back to conquest.

    Look at the chat box.

Yeah, that's the extent of my internet infamy. Chat boxes! Woo!

Thankfully he didn't show the parts where he started the match by smacking me with TV missiles.

At least you famous. I never found myself on a server with Mattimio, LC, or XFactor. Probably better for my KDR.

I can't get used to TV missiles. I always go with the TOW on the attack boats. May have to give them another shot.

Noticed the clan tags above you as [HOG]. I'm with S6 and we had problems with a HOG clan back in BF2:Project Reality. I'm not in this video from 2010 but still play with a few of the guys in the video including the guy who made it. As per the vid's description, here is the story in case you just want to watch the embedded vid.

Probably the same group. The server name was something like =HOG= Naval Strike.

My problem with TV missiles is that active protection doesn't block them. So XFactor could sit behind an island and fling two missiles at me which, when combined with the damage sustained from the A2G missiles that didn't set off alarm bells in my attack boat, killed me pretty easily.

I think he's pretty aware and perceptive of his environment, but I don't think he's super skilled. We wound up having about the same amount of kills, though I had more deaths. Both of us topped our teams.

    Here's the Battle report.

I never got the hang of controlling the TV missiles. Practice makes perfect but I'm not too patient. Anyway, good stuff going head to head with XF. You playing conquest or carrier assault? Since I got the patch I literally played only 20 minutes or so, just a few rounds of 32 player CA. Not that fun.

Conquest. I haven't had the chance to play carrier assault, or in fact play much of Naval Strike. I haven't even played on all the maps yet.

The TV missiles have very odd sensitivity. I'm never quite sure how far they'll pitch or yaw when moving the mouse.

Exactly my problem with them. Maybe I should got to the range and practice. But then again, maybe I should go to the range and learn how to fly. It's only been since BF2 that this is something I wanted to do. Ahhh, maybe not. I belong on the field with boots on the ground.

It's worth learning how to fly since apparently Naval Strike is really Aerial Strike. Helicopters seem to dominate on these maps.

Flying in BF3 was OP. In BF4 not so much. They are death traps. It is a shame. In BF3 you can go 56-0. In BF4, you are lucky if you go on a 10+ kill streak as a good pilot.

It is funny though, in BF3 when complaining about balance, the chopper pilots were like "deal with it" "learn how to counter us" etc. Now in BF4, they are crying because they can't go 56-0 anymore and saying there are balance issues with all the lock on weapons, etc. Now the infantry are telling them to "deal with it" "learn how to counter us" I love it. They really do sound like a bunch of whining idiots though.

But....as a non-chopper pilot, after all that has happened, and after growing a disdain for the f'ers going 56-0, I can't help but feel bad for them. Especially with these AA mines, active radar, long countermeasure reload times, very fast reloading surface to air missiles......damn.

Well, this BF4 internet celeb had a winning record against TiP54 over two rounds of Naval Strike Domination.

He got his revenge when I switched to recon, though.

I never could add Tip54. Sticky says that Tip54 is his username, but the only one I can find is Tip54RUS. And even then, there are no stats. Next time I'm on I'll check your friend list and try to find him.

We should all get on a server and see if we can bring my win% above 50%. Stuck at 48%-49%.

My win% and skill are in the pits. I don't use those as serious measures of skill. SPM is better, but not a universal judge. What if you're really good at a low SPM role?

The leaderboards at least let you measure where you're at in relation, though everyone at the top… well, hacking has never been so obvious. Sustained 8000 SPMs? Yeah, right.

Agreed, the Skill stat is flawed, its been well documented. It is a useless stat. I got my win percentage up to 50% yesterday with a huge string of wins. A few losses and I think it will go back down to 49% - I'm on a fine line right now.

I just unlocked the SR-2. Man, don't know what to say. Thing is a death machine in close and I like the iron sights. Might not equip optics on it for a while.

Don't use optics on the SR-2 period. It's a hipfire-oriented gun. Sights will just block off a part of the screen. You should almost never use the sights on that thing.

It's as close as we'll get to BF3's M5K, one of my favorite all-time FPS guns.

I don't like lasers, they give my position away, so I generally won't resort to hipfire. I was killing it with this thing in full auto and aiming down sights anyway.

You don't even need a laser sight on the SR-2 to be good at hip fire with it. It's built for it, the accuracy stats are what make it good at hip fire.

And you can turn the laser sight off.

But, aiming down sight will always be more accurate anyway, and it is my general habit as well.

It's more accurate but slower to go from target to target. With a PDW you want to cover as many bodies as you can to take advantage of that ROF.

    Valid point.

I just checked my stats and in 19 minutes I went 30-6 with the thing and 12% accuracy / 20% headshot rate. Not bad at all. One full round I was hanging at D on Silk Road though and just decimating people near the hangars and tents.

What's funny is that I recall having a decent game, but just couldn't get a shot on Des, was like 4-1 against him.

I usually play conquest, so that server was a nice switch up from my usual open combat, my basic FPS reflex kick in :)

Just played the closes game of Battlefield I've played to date.
It's that =URock= 1k ticket domination server Des likes. We lost by ONE ticket. Incredible.

When you guys played conquest, what's your predominant strategy? When I play with at least one friend, we are usually on a skype call, so it's easier to communicate.
On maps such as Rogue Transmission, Shanghai, Zavod, etc...we try to go straight for the back point, and hold it. If the teammates are decent, that usually results in a W as we get their team to congregate at their first flag while teammates take the other ones. Doesn't always work, obviously, but if we are successful at maintaining the point for 65-85% of the game, we usually win. Shanghai is especially great for this as it can be done from both sides by spawning in a jetski and speeding to the other side, and both sides spawn tanks at their first points which adds to entertainment value. On Zavod it's fun to start on the right side of the map, and go straight for F on ATVs. Mine the entrances to the point and hold it. Work back to E if possible.

Stuff like that. How do you guys usually go about things?

I'm Loving the new game type on the Naval map's. Once the carriers blow **** get's real, mad fun. Also just started using the wire guided launcher, man I've been missing out. You can take out anything from people to tanks/boats and choppers.

I play conquest large. Surprisingly never gave CA-Large a try. Had a few rounds on a 32 man CA server and it wasn't fun at all.

Siege of Shanghai - like you I zip across on a jetski and take the flags behind the line. Very disruptive.

Zavod - i don't like the far flags. I stay in the middle C-D-E and go where needed most. Unless my team is getting handled, then I go support the outer flags to neutralize the flow.

Rogue - I don't go to the ends unless I spawn by A (what team is that?) then I go for C and E (construction site). If I spawn on the right side I will defend C and E against that very strategy and take the middle D flag if possible, and push up from there if my team is advancing. I don't get involved in the sniper battles on the hills at B and D.

That is all lone wolf - the way I prefer to play really. When I am on with my clanmates I am not squad lead, so I follow their flow. I usually like playing solo predominantly because I can do things my way. I am not forced to go here, or go there when I know we as a squad would do better to hit the objective by choosing different routes, etc. Teamspeak chatter can get confusing at times as well. Generally, it is a lot of fun both ways, but sometimes you just want to be alone. :)

EDIT: That is why I don't join Desides' servers. That and I don't want a 1-4 record hanging over my head. You need redemption by the way lol.

What do I need redeeming from?

TiP destroyed me on Operation Mortar when I went recon. I was short scoping people left and right and he didn't give an F.

When you're coordinating, Skype or Teamspeak or Ventrilo is good. I rarely play in a coordinated group, and when I do it's with people who choose the server--usually winds up being hardcore, which I don't think is too fun.

I generally try to flank in conquest. I worry less about the points and more about obstructing the other team. If you know a group is heading to a point, you hit them from the side and destroy/distract them. I suppose it's a form of point defense, in a way.
