    Heat Chatter

    • Exploring possible alternatives to Ricky Davis, the Heat spoke with agents not only about James Jones, but Kirk Snyder, Roger Mason Jr., Devean George and restricted free agent Ryan Gomes, among others. And at center, beyond Kwame Brown, Miami spoke with agents representing Nenad Krstic (who is restricted), Francisco Elson, Primoz Brezec and David Harrison. . . . Although restricted free agent Monta Ellis' interest in the Heat had Ellis' camp exploring that option, the Warriors need him after losing Baron Davis. . . . Undrafted former UM center Anthony King auditioned for the Heat the past few days.

If Heat sign Kwame, it'd be like Smush Parker Part II.

If we sign him, it'll just be to have a body out there. He won't stick beyond a year or two.

I think we have never seen Monta Ellis handle the point for 36 minutes.

That is why his numbers look "off".

    If given the opportunity fulltime...I don't see how he can't become a 4 to 1 assist/turnover guy.

He doesn't have to average 10 apg...just a paltry 7.5 to 8 would make him among the best pg's in basketball to go with his efficient 19 to 20 ppg. That with Wade makes up a mean back court.

He is no different IMO to what a Derrick Rose/Wade backcourt was going to look like.

Well, Rose is a fairly big, pass-first point guard, while Ellis is a smaller, shoot-first "point guard" (I use the term loosely here). So no, I don't think they're that much alike. I also don't see that his A/TO ratio is going to suddenly jump to 4 to 1 after being about 1.7 to 1 for his career. He's played 207 games; it's not like he's a rookie. If he handles the ball more (as a point), history suggests to us that he's going to turn it over more. He's not going to magically become more responsible with the ball just because you slap the "point guard" label on him. Either you make good decisions with the basketball, or you don't.

The way Ellis has been used dictates what his numbers have looked like.

Ellis is taller than Rose BTW, with just as much athletic ability.

Hey, are we going to be able to watch this game live on www.orlandomagic.com?

The vid that is streaming is just a camera looking at the scoreboard?

    Anyone?

EDIT: Nevermind... its working now, lol

Anyone know what numbers Beasley and Chalmers will be wearing?

Beasley is 30. My guess is that Chalmers will wear the same number as he did in college which I don't remember.

Yeah, the summer league jersey numbers go by size I believe. Beasley will wear #30 when the preseason starts, and Chalmers won't be wearing #1 unless Dorell Wright winds up elsewhere.

Michael Beasley is making Noah & Tyrus Thomas look like pure garbage, even defensively.

Chalmers is doing a great job on Derrick Rose, too. Great job. Rose looks rather "frustrated"

But let's not forget that Earl Barron was like a Summer League MVP, so don't put too much into it.

What I'm looking for in Beasley is defensive effort and how he runs the team, since he's the best player without Wade and Marion on the floor. We know he can score.....

9 points in the first quarter, and if this was a regular season game, he'd probably have about 10 free throw attempts by now. He's got a sweet baseline J, too....

Derrick Rose has 2 points and has been rattled by Chalmers thus far.

There's no foul outs in Summer League. I remember because last year Greg Oden had nine in one game.

Derrick Rose has at least 3-4 turnovers so far, and Chalmers is responsible for maybe all of them.

It's just the summer league and he's only 19, but Rose reminds me of Antonio Daniels. :escape:

& Beasley hasn't played a single minute of the 2nd quarter, but the commentators say he's fine.

Probably resting the sternum injury, because this is a summer league blow out.

Chalmers has 8 points, great floor running, and great defense. Rose with 3 points and a ton of TO's

Beasley played one quarter and is still the leading scorer; like what I saw from Lasme, too.

BTW, was very impressed by Chalmers. Mainly by his ball handling skills. I didnt realize he could handle like that. He crossed Rose multiple times... and has a quicker first step than I thought...

Those commentators were entertaining for two guys who don't know anything about basketball.

They kept referring to JamesOn Curry as JamesOff Curry, then one goes, "man, that guy sucks"
