Brent Grimes re-signs with Phins YES YES YES https://twitter.com/MiamiDolphins/status/440505950869262337
Nice. Well done Dolphins. Will be interesting to see the details. This really allows them flexibility with the franchise at DT if necessary and the chance to pursue O-Linemen.
But wait, I thought Hickey was the anti-Christ and that no players would ever want to play for Miami and Ross, who is bozo the clown? What the hell, I'm very confused here. The media keeps reporting how horrible Miami is. Why would Grimes sign here, especially in the wake of Jonathan Martin scandal????
Great move. CB has no more necessary additions for next year. Cut Patterson for the $, resign nolan carroll and give Taylor and Davis some playing time next year. Here is my new offseason plan. Resign Clabo as starting RT. He was great after his awful start last year. He can cut it one more year. Sign one of the stud guards in free agency to shore up that position and see where Dallas Thomas is in camp next year before deciding what to do with the other guard position. Draft Taylor Lewan with the first pick if he is still available. Sign a powerful running back to complement Miller and if available in the 4th round draft D'Anthony Thomas to give us a Woodhead type receiving running back threat. Then find a replacement for Wheeler in free agency.
Glad to see this happen. Shows our roster that performance, hard work, and the right attitude will be rewarded by the organization.
Or perhaps the situation in Miami isn't as dire as the media and many members of this forums would like to believe. Just throwing that possibility out there. I know for some it's hard to fathom.
I am on the record as usual as being, well, unapproving of this contract. Too old for this compensation. OK, I hate this. I wanted the Dolphins to go younger. Verner was my first choice.
I hope so. I'd love to see them cut Patterson and use that cap space to bring in Shields. Allow the two rookies from last year to ease in to nickle and dime roles while they're cheap.
Nice but hope the money is front loaded. CB's aren't QB's, they don't exactly last as long. Getting him re-signed was important though.
Good first significant move by Hickey. Can't believe some are down on this unless the contract is historically obscene. He was one of the brightest spots on this team last year and he earned the contract.
Wheeler's salary is fully guaranteed this year. So there are 3 options. He stays and starts, or he stays and is an expensive backup, or we find a team to trade for him.
@PFF 1m He missed 2012 hurt, but Brent Grimes has ranked 10th (2010), 3rd (2011) & 2nd (2013) in our CB rankings. Top quality cornerback.
Why would we do that? Grimes with big money, possibly bring Carrol back rather inexpensively... as we still have some nice young talent developing as well. That money could be much better spent elsewhere...
For just pure cover ability, IMO Miami has only had one corner the equal of Grimes. That was Tim McKyer for one season in 1990.
