According to Jason LaCanfora of CBSSports.com, the Dolphins are “gauging trade value” for 2013 first-round pick Dion Jordan. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/
Wow...that would be a shock to me... First, we may be 'lacking' along the DL when the season starts, compared to the past few years. Second, we have many needs. DL is one of them. Third, what happens with Starks and Soliai have alot to do with how feasible this would be for us... But, who knows...this organization keeps doing things that don't make sense to me anyway, why stop now, just because Ireland is gone....
How....I mean ...why...would they give up on this guy already??? This cant be factual, even by the Dolphins normal standards.
If they do it for Houston's first round pick, count me in....... Would you guys do Jordan, 2014 and 2015 1st Rounders to Houston (provided that's what it took)? Obviously getting Clowney in return? I would...in. a. second.
The team has had an ENTIRE training camp, regular season and now offseason to asses him. If the coaching staff and new GM are strongly leaning towards declaring him a bust due to work ethic or other factors, wouldn't it be smart to trade him now? Or do you guys screaming bloody murder prefer he go the way of Vernon Gholston and we get nothing in return? Or, even better, this leak is being reported to put him on notice that working hard isn't cutting it and that he needs to enter overdrive mode to utilize his talents.
Yes, because clearly Hickey came to this conclusion 2 weeks on the job and the rest of the coaching staff, defensive coordinator and other members of the team had no input, say or insight to provide. You are right on. Excellent observation. That even assumes this report is correct. But keep playing the pity party, it serves you well. After all, his 1 sack last year has him at Lawrence Taylor levels.
If that's their assessment then I'd wonder if they even watch game tap. Every time Jordan was on the field he made a difference. Even if we get a 1st in return I wouldn't trade Jordan.
Not giving up 3 1st round picks for Clowney. Would have done it for Luck, but not anything other than QB.
Jordan has already gone afoul of the League's substance abuse policies. Was the crowning statement of the illustrious career of the former GM.
So you are better equipped to come to player personnel conclusions than the team? Are you there during practice? In the weight room? Do you know what type of attitude he has? His work ethic? His IQ on the field?
I get what you're saying here, and normally I'm generally in agreement... But what has this coaching staff shown as far as realizing and utilizing talent over the current regime? They haven't bolstered my faith in their ability in those regards. Arguably the worst offensive line the Dolphins ever had, and we had how many former-OL coaches?
The flaw in your reasoning is it assumes this staff are capable of evaluating their own talent, which, LOL Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
while crazy...i kind of get it. Had we known Vernon would step up like we did, we wouldn't have taken Jordan IMO. IF we can get another 1st this season...i get the logic. Remember, hickey only has a 2 year contract. the man doesn't necessarily care about life after Cameron Wake, because he might not be here for it. His logic is probably simply protecting tannehill and getting this team to the playoffs. Jordans not actually essential to that. i'll be bummed...but i get.
We must never be surprised by the depths of stupidity that the Dolphins are capable of. The franchise is resolute in its efforts to prove they are, in fact, completely and utterly inept.
So one season, where he was hurt much of training camp, is enough to declare him a bust? Yet, we have to evaluate everybody else for 3 years?
Wait...isnt it me..or is this really...a non issue. Why wouldnt they see what they could get for him. Maybe someone loves the guy and is willing to over pay. He showed flashes in his first season of being a stud. Hes an asset...and a valuable one. Seems logical to see what you might get Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
only an issue IMo if we trade him cheap, but if someones dangling a 1st rounder in front of us... hypothetical...someone offers a 1st rounder between 10-25 range...we then have two picks in the first with the opportunity to walk away with any combination of Zach Martin (T), Clinton-Dix (S), Louis Nix (DT), Mike Evans (WR), or probably ANY of the top Gaurds...do you take it? I do..
We have one of the better D-Line coaches in the league and a unit that was top 10 last year. If it were the offense I'd agree with you but I think the defensive side for the most part knows what they're doing.
I recall rumblings that Jordan had some part to play in not being ready/not getting on the field more, but I've got no solid sources outside of what I've seen in the mains.
If his work ethic is in serious question, it's hard to defend or advocate for.. I hope it's not true.but there is some info out there that leads up to believe that he's not in good graces with the staff.
Nothin wrong w that unless you're failing drug tests (assuming Goodell doesn't make it legal like he was talking about).
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer...ns-shopping-2013-first-round-pick-dion-jordan He also includes Wallace and Wake as possible trade options
Where are you getting this from? As for the topic at hand, need I remind you all that the source of the news is someone who tends to make PFT, another questionable news source, look like Jeff Darlington?
Jordan is in phase 1 of the NFL substance abuse program. And there IS something wrong with it, it does not become illegal simply when you get caught.
