    NBA News:

Warriors may offer Clippers Forward Corey Maggette approximately $10 million a year if they lose out on other Clippers free agent Elton Brand. Maggette is currently in serious discussions with the San Antonio Spurs.

It is a likely that Celtics FA James Posey will stay in Boston unless he receives a bigger contract than what is being offered by the Celtics.

NBA commissioner David Stern is looking to possibly move a team to Seattle if the city agrees to build a new arena (Want to point out that there have been discussions of a new arena and it is expected to cost approximately $300 million to build it). Howard Schultz has filed a suit against Clay Bennett stating that Bennett did not give his best faith effort to find a place for the Sonics to play in Seattle. Schultz will put up a $4 million dollar bond out of possible $32 million to fight the case.

Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley has expressed his desire to sell the Grizzles due to the poor market and fan support. The NBA would look to move the Grizzlies to Seattle and as of now, they are at the top of the list of possibilities in Seattle. Stern has stated that there will NOT be an expansion team.

Bucher of ESPN has stated that there has been every indication that Clippers Forward Elton Brand will be heading back to the LAC to team up with newly acquired Point Guard Baron Davis. The previously reported offer of $90 million made by the Warriors has been disputed. There are no indications that the Warriors did make that offer to Brand due to them failing to confirm the contract offer. Earlier this off-season, there was a reported offer of $101 million made by the Warriors to Wizards star FA Gilbert Arenas. Arenas has stated that he never received any offer from the Warriors. Brand will likely be making his decision of staying with the Clippers public by the end of this weekend or early next week at the latest.

Damn Houston could lose Yao and TMac? Whew, rough. Thats a very strong class, I think we will see ALOT of salary dumping trades in the upcoming season...

In fact, we already are. NJ gave away Richard Jefferson for about 30 cents on the dollar, and the Knicks have hung a "will trade for food" sign on Zach Randolph.

Kind of surprised everyone is talking about LeBron being the target for everyone, I would think Yao would be a huge get for a ton of teams, TMac as well. You have to think that Jefferson deal was done to get LeBron, not that any team would collude through a third party to get LeBron.....I know that never happens in the NBA, but that trade did have LeBron written all over it. I think once some teams fall out of contention you'll be able to trade for 10cents on the dollar with expiring contracts. I'd be surprised if a few of these big names didn't get traded next season.

Not sure how hot of a player McGrady will be in the 2010 market. He'll be 31 years old and has had injury issues.

I believe Yao has an Early Termination Option, meaning that he can terminate his contract if he so chooses. He might not be on the market.

And yes, the Jefferson salary dump most certainly had LeBron written all over it. Jay-Z is now part owner of the Nets, is good buddies with LeBron, and has certainly been whispering in LeBron's ear about coming to Brooklyn in 2010. If you want to make a Cavs fan furious, bring this up to them. They go into the sort of outraged denials that make Carl Everett's theories about dinosaurs seem reasonable by comparison. The Nets are also willing to trade Vince Carter to anyone willing to take on his big, fat contract.

    NBA News:

Chicago Bulls number one pick Derrick Rose has been battling tendinitis. He has had a noticable limp and has had his knees wrapped up in ice. He has stated that he will not miss any games. He says the condition developed from a conditioning program that he was in when he played for the Memphis Tigers.

The Lakers are waiting for free agents Sasha Vujacic and Ronny Turiaf to sign their offers. The two have been trying to receive offers from other teams so the Lakers can match. The Lakers offered one year offers of $2.6 million and $1 million.

The Detroit Pistons are considering a mid-level exception offer to Clippers Forward Corey Maggette. The Pistons have had at least one conversation with Maggette's representatives.

You actually might have a chance. Maggette is looking for money and a chance at the championship. Everyone will offer him the MLE and there's no better chance of getting to the finals then the East. Boston is also in the hunt for his services but things have seemed to cool down between the two. I haven't heard anything of Boston going after Maggette since his last visit which was last week.

Vujacic's stock dropped with poor defensive positioning so I think that's a reasonable price. Turiaf also. I would think he'd want to stick around considering his close bond with teammates and the fact Buss himself paid for his heart surgery. They're also aiming to re-sign Mbenga but not Newble. Shame though. We could use a SF that launches flying kicks on guys like Dunleavy.

I heard San Antonio was the front runner. My guess is that he'd rather play there. If the chances for a championship are about even, most players tend to prefer better weather.

Cheerleader? Hardly. He's aggressive on the boards and a top notch blocker. And he's developing a pretty nice jumper. Not bad for a bench player.

Besides, Blazers are paying $12 mil for a cardboard cut-out in LaFrentz. :pity:

it was a joke....you know how he is known for jumping up and down on the sidelines then for what he does on the court

yeah its pretty good blazers are paying him that much, he is gonna have a lot of value come trade deadline

Yeah SA is the front runner and they are in serious talks. I think if Detroit was to offer him a contract, he would sit back and think. Another darkhorse in this pursuit for Maggette is the Warriors. They are reportedly going to lose out on Brand and they are looking at Maggette as their next top target. They are wiling to offer him ten million a year to play in GS. If he gets ten million a year, I think you'll see him in GS. They are a playoff caliber team with him in the lineup. Ellis will move to PG for them.

Yea, I know, which is why I'm glad he has some skills on the court unlike Mark Madsen.

If Lakers could use Kwame's dud of a $9 mil salary to get a guy like Pau Gasol, Blazers should get something out of LaFrentz.

yeah, to bad memphis doesn't have anyone really for blazers now that miller is gone...i dont really know many other teams that are trying to lose cap space...the knicks dont really have anybody, i like balkman a lot, but portland would have to take a bad contract with him since salaries dont match up

Pretty sure Ellis will be a Knick. Hes been pretty adamant about wanting to play in D'Antoni's offense and who wouldnt? With Marbury a very good buyout/trade candidate and Jamal Crawford having an opt out after next year after this year the knicks can use guards. Ellis would fill the need for starter at PG in the likely 3 guard rotation. Ellis/Crawford/Duhon looks pretty good; better then things have looked in a long while anyway.

Actually Rod Thorn was on WFAN the night of the draft about 2 hours before and said it was done with cap clearing intentions.

Regarding Randolph the Knicks have gotten a few offers. Im interested to see what they can get out of it. Trade McFlurry too while theyre at it.
