this is the utter definition of circular logic.

 

HOw is that circular logic?

 

Stop depressing me with those facts, I WANT to believe.

 

I just updated them for a comparison.

 

How? because you're suggest Tannehill is a good medium range passer b/c he's better than the pig slop we've had since Marino retired and before Pennington. That's circular logic.

 

That does nothing for me....I already know Wilson is the superior QB.

 

I want to believe, too.... and I still believe..... but when you're a developing QB in need of mechanical tweaks and so forth and are reliant upon one of Philbin's cronies to coach him up, well then something's gonna give...... and in this case it was his accuracy outside the short passing game.

 

Huh, doesn't seem like it.

 

That wasn't the point. The point was to show by comparison that Tannehill still has some developing and improving to do in order to be considered an accurate medium range passer. Plus I'm squashing up front any objection that asks, "but how do we know that's not normal for the league".

 

Thoughts on Tannehill


Areas He Was Already Strong In As Rookie
- Throwing mid-range out breaking patterns and some deep level outs with velocity and good placement

Areas He Has Shown Good Growth In
- Touch passes, dropping it into zones
- Leading the team in two minute situations, especially ones with less pressure (game not on line… like end of first half)
- Throwing into the actual endzone. He seemed shy about this for the first season and a half, with players needing to take it in for the TD but rarely would Tannehill attack a receiver who was in the actual endzone. That started to improve in 2013.
- Improving his TD:INT ratio
- Leadership of the team (though I wonder if he lost some of the team's faith in his ability to get it done when we couldn't muster more than 7 points in two must-win games to make the playoffs against weaker opponents.)

Areas He Has Shown A Little Growth In, But More Is Needed
- Pocket awareness and presence. Still eats it too often, but he has started to move a little more. He is also beginning to learn to throw the ball away rather than eat the sack.
- Throwing to the middle of the field
- Showing up biggest when the moment is biggest (did this in Pats game, not as much in Jets or Bills games despite a valiant effort)
- Quickly recognizing the defense and attacking it's weak point without reliance on check-downs or 'comfort throws' (Where's Hartline?). This is why great QBs like Manning and Brady spread the ball around to so many receivers in one game.


Areas He Hasn't Shown Much Improvement In
- Deep accuracy


Areas We Can't Know If He Needs To Improve In (Because It May Have Been Sherman, Not Tannehill)
- Checking out of and into the best play at the L.O.S.
- Using his legs as a weapon/threat to the defense consistently (not just every third game)

 

LOL. Why, because I'm removing my aqua colored glasses to speak objectively rather than emotionally? Gimme a break. If your ego and pride are THAT fragile that you have to turn everything into cute little bunny farts then I feel sorry for you.

Furthermore, you're about as qualified to speak about my affinity or lack there of for Tannehill as a butcher offering a lecture on open heart surgery. Perhaps you'd like to investigate this forum's activity from all the way back to November of 2011 when I was already pining for Miami to spend a top 10 pick on Tannehill and facing opposition that believed I was crazy for even suggesting it.

Tannehill improved from year one to two. He needs to have the same kind of improvement this year too if he wants to be taken seriously.
