Argh. Open Office and LibreOffice failed me so I did mine manually. Going to kick myself if that works. Had some productive trading. Only trade I regret in hindsight would probably be the one I did with Fin-O. Ironically we both left that one not feeling solid about it.
I think it's going to be hilarious to see who tries to get first. I wish there were a message board feature where you could open a thread automatically at a set time.
I start work at 11:30pm. I have to setup my laptop and deal with whatever bull there is to start the shift. Trades are setup. However cause of inception trading...I believe most of our trade is held up by Fin-O and his partners. Not worried about being first. More trying to slag through these trades one acceptance at a time.
Hah. Yah if a certain west coast team pulls out.....there is a chain reaction at least 5 levels deep involving dozens of picks and around $150 million in contracts.
None of what you just said changes the fact you traded young 1st & 2nd round players for unproven picks, so you clearly endorse such type trades. I didn't mention your Bills trades to criticize them. Was merely pointing out your hypocrisy, b/c you feel it's ok to move your players for unproven picks and did so at a warp speed pace last year, but then you sanctimoniously criticize me for offering up a talented but unproven 2013 2nd round running back. Pick a side of the fence and stay on it. And to answer your question, Eric Wood was playing quite well before you traded him and was rewarded with $25 million b/c of it. He allowed just 2 sacks from 2011-12. Boston.com's Eric Frenz had him on his AFCE Top 25 team... as did Tim Graham. All your Eric Wood trade does is illustrates how this league perceives offensive linemen and undervalues them, further strengthening my statement about giving Detroit good value for Warford. It's funny you taking this stance against my trade offer yet you're telling us how difficult it is to get value for offensive linemen in this league. Aaron Williams had a strong year at safety [82 tkl, 4 int, 11 passes defended, 1 forced fumble]. You got hosed on that one. That's all still besides the point. You traded those guys for draft picks that you hoped would bring you value. Now, your own individual opinion of Christine Michael doesn't mean a hill of beans, nor does it negate the fact he was a 2nd rounder and looked FANTASTIC in preseason running 40 times for 200 yards. It's just YOUR opinion. The fact is, he's a 2nd rounder drafted by a team that knows what the hell they're doing and drafted him to be Marshawn Lynch's heir. That's higher than Warford went. I'm obviously not saying Michael > Warford just b/c he was drafted higher, but he isn't some 7th round bum like you're trying to insinuate. But then again, with your history of giving young talented players away for peanuts you're probably not the best voice of reason for something like this. Christine Michael takes up the first 3 minutes of this clip. I'd advise watching it before attempting to poison other trades he might be involved in b/c it would seem you need a refresher course on last year's preseason and the type of potential & value he actually possesses contrary to your superficial attempt to judge him critically just b/c he didn't get many carries. Now tell me again I didn't offer good value for Warford.
Whatever Todd. It's a bad deal no matter what type of justification you try and make for it and your not fooling anyone around here. Go find a trade partner who will buy it.
The difference IMO is that a pick can become basically any player at any position where as a young unproven player is a single player at a single position, so the pick has more perceived value.
must be blind, but I can't find the draft pick salaries from last year. Want to use that as a baseline for this year. Anyone know what they were from the 2013 GML forum?
I agree.... which is why I wasn't trying to trade Michael straight up for Warford. That's why I included Wright as well. Van on the other hand goes to such an extreme that he thinks a 2nd round player from last year brings no value even though he tore it up in the preseason..... but that seems pretty typical Van when looking at his trade history- he significantly devalues anyone who doesn't produce like a Pro Bowler right out of the gate.
ftfy Though on the other hand, pre-season dude. Pre-season. I'd rather have Warford, but I don't think the trade is terribly unfair. I drafted Wright the year he came out in GML to boot. I value RBs very low though. I value PFF's rankings for future team building even less.
watch.the.video. You have a history of devaluing players so just stop talking. Heck, you just did it again with Cushing who you traded for the 61st pick. LOL. Who do you think you could possibly land at the end of the 2nd round who could be better? ......and you're not the voice of the league so you should probably zip your trap when it comes to thinking you're speaking on everyones' behalf.
Context though, Mach, context. You're throwing out that statement in a vacuum as if everything about a player, his draft status, perceived value when entering the league, are all suddenly thrown to the wayside the moment he signs his contract. A 2nd round running back who comes out to preseason and kills it isn't doing anything to tarnish his draft value, dude. Not sure why you think otherwise. It's not like this Michael is an undrafted rookie who, from nowhere, shocked everyone with a great preseason and left all the fans asking each other amidst the confusion, "HEY, who the hell is number 33?!!..Where the f*** did HE come from?!" BTW, do you have any NFL film on the guy you're considering making your first round pick? Are you gonna say, "college dude. college." about anyone who looks good on film and then not draft them because it's only "college film"? It's almost like you're intimating that college tape is better than college tape PLUS pre-season tape.
Because it seems you keep using that highlight video to sell him. Who was he playing against in pre season? 3rd stringers? College tape is full schemes, not vanilla ones. And I never said his draft value was less. I said I don't value RBs highly. I wouldn't have taken him in the 2nd. Drafts are littered with players overdrafted. And you're not trading him for another pick, you're trading him for another player, of which there's NFL film on. For college players all we have is film (which is used to create reports) and useless combine numbers. It's not an equal comparison. Blaine Gabbert killed it in the pre-season. It didn't turn out so well after that. Pre-season is pre-season. If you came at me with Well, he was a high pick, and SEA's got a great stable of RBs, look at all these different films and scouting reports it'd be one thing, but it's not. Running against our swiss cheese defence isn't indicative of his ability one way or the other I think. I put no stock in pre-season at all. Good players play poorly, poor players play well, and draft picks have the same range too. As I said though, which is why I don't get why you're upset: I thought the trade in a vacuum was fair. For me, I don't do it because I don't care much for RBs, but that's just my own opinion. For someone who values RBs (I don't think Van does), it'd be a different perspective. If I had him I take nothing less than the equivalent of a 2nd , but it's not the same if I'd be trying to get him.
In case you didn't get it through your head in my last post Todd. I'm done with the conversation and not interested in running circles with you for pages on end. What started out as fun needling has gotten far too serious and I'm sure most don't care to see us go on and on and on *yawn*. So you can quit whining and we can get back to the league (besides you can't earn feud of the year off me...I'm the prize giver so I'm automatically out ;p)
Friends do things for friends, like trade a late first for Kyle Orton -eyes Griddles- In case y'all still wondering...Mach sucks.
Yo Roger...who cares about these crippled ole Vets who are out go the league, I need answers for Christ Sake!
