Rams retain Greg Williams Jeff Fisher and his 8-8 fetishes are gone. Along with him is Brian Schittinheimer.
Someone asked about obtaining a franchise LT in order to free up a 1st round pick. Yes, Russell Okung, Pro Bowler, #56 on Pro Football Focus's Top 101 of 2012, and prior #6 overall pick is available so let the bidding begin. And no, the starting bid isn't a ham sammich. Said by PFF about Okung last year:
Houston rough trade block up including my newly minted "The Don't Bother Me Unless Your Offering Me The Moon, Your Mother and Your Back Door" non trade block.
Will consider a trade down from #1 overall with solid veteran QB in mind. Will also consider draft pick trade down also from #1, to acquire more ammo.
Who says I wont take Sammy? Actually I'm more interested in something along the lines of what Tractor got for #1 last year in a weaker top draft. Basically acquire a veteran QB and still stay in the first round.
Hope people haven't attempted trade on the following folks ;p http://overthecap.com/feb-3-nfl-salary-cap-space-update/
Yes but if it wasn't official...did the trade ever exist in the first place. Deep thoughts! FYI 1st overall.....going going...gone. But is it? Does it exist?
I think everyone has done their due diligence and aren't ******* enough to back out...(although I already regret 1) I just urge people to write down what they have in place so you don't accidentally screw things up.
I updated the schedule/rules thread... 2/4/14 Teams will retain, hire, and fire coaches 2/10/14 Rosters will be posted 2/11/14 Teams can cut and trade players Just trying to allow time for these contracts to be cleaned up due to the voided years issue. Most of those guys I was aware of (that van posted) and I'd already taken into account that they'd most likely be free agents. However, for those of you who were trying to get a head start, and only looking at the overthecap website for your roster, well, again, I tried to warn you a couple of days ago.
I've been using rotoworld 2014 rosters personally as well as googling whether players have opt outs or voids.
everything and anything But I'm bound to miss something. That's why when the rosters are posted, gonna need each of your help to double check things. You'll have limited time to notify me of changes that are necessary. However, I realize not every GM is going to have the time or resources to be 100% accurate either. The general idea though is to freeze the rosters when they are posted so that anything that happens in the NFL after that time does NOT affect what we do here. Beyond that, discrepancies will be handled on a case by case basis, but I'll need to see evidence that the player or salary was inaccurate as of the time of the roster being posted by me.
I can PM you my "expected roster" if needed. Be nice to have a definitive salary cap # posted though.
I should halt trading for now or I'm going into Inception trading. A trade within a trade within a trade.
Their numbers historically were inaccurate, like, not even close. The math was all wrong. Then after OTC launched, spotrac started adopting their numbers en masse. I even pointed it out to Griddles last year and told him to watch, and as soon as OTC posted something, spotrac would adopt them right after. After I told Jason, he even put some faulty numbers for lesser guys in there to see what happened and they took those numbers too. There was a huge blowup and stuff, and I think spotrac credits OTC now.
Spotrac relies on these great sources for collecting thorough & accurate NFL news, contract data, and more. OvertheCap (Player Breakdowns) Rotoworld (NBC Sports) USA Today (Salaries) ninercaphell (misc. bonuses) Russell Street Report (Ravens Cap) @RavensInsider @Brian_McIntyre Player Breakdowns, or, you know, what's also known as pretty much the entirety of the information (year by year cap hits and attributions)
Ah. I was using them to check against OTC to make sure they matched.....well duh on me now. What do you suggest as a backup check to OTC?
For cap stuff in general? You're not really gonna find a good one. Roto's okay for P5s, but they don't do any math stuff at all, just basic broad stuff. Ian Whetstone's site is really good, it was what I was using after Todd pointed out SF issues last year but before OTC launched (an aside, Ian directed me to Jason a couple days before OTC launched, so that's how we started talking), and OTC rec's them too. They're not super easy on the eyes and ease of numbers though. You'll have to do math. You could use spotrac to double check, but I wouldn't assume their numbers are right if there's a difference.
Right, I've found roto good for just seeing who is under contract. With a quick google search to make sure and otc for salary.
