Amazing how a simply catchphrase could do that.

According to Dave Meltzer the decision to have Bryan turn on the Wyatts last night was due to the YES chants that happened during the Michigan State vs. Ohio State basketball game last week. If so thank you to that crowd.

Feel like watching some matches (this wwe network thing can't get here fast enough)

    One of my favorite matches:

Daniel Bryan apparently suffered a concussion last night. No word on how bad it is but he reportedly didn't remember much of the cage match. Hopefully he gets better fast and it doesn't have any long term effects on him.

The WWE is once again talking to Sting about signing a contract. I think it will happen, it really makes no sense for Sting not to sign. He signs a big money contract, works limited dates ala Brock, gets multiple DVD releases, HOF induction, gets to wrestle at WM etc. He can work programs with Punk, Cena, Orton, Bryan, Batista, maybe even Brock, Triple H and/or The Rock and possibly The Undertaker. Of course the only thing holding him back would be him thinking the WWE crapping on his legacy and having him job to "WWE only" guys and cutting him off at the legs.

Also apparently Triple H was the one that talked Vince into ending the Daniel Wyatt angle.

    Bring in Sting!

Liking HHH seeing through crap and speaking up to end that angle......

Cool off topic story. I had 3 offers to play football out of high school in 2005. They came from West Virginia Weslyan, Wingate University and Troy university......I accepted Wingate, but if I would've went to Troy, I would've played all 4 years with Wyndham Rotunda aka Bray Wyatt.

Sting v. Undertaker is the match everybody would love to see in a historical sense...and it's BOX OFFICE. They can have Sting do his "crow" schtick all the way...and never have him engage with anybody till he meets Taker for the streak....it would be HUGE.

I mean..not a word. Just show up in the rafters....have him stalk Taker everywhere he goes....till they make the match. Boom. There you go.

I have a kind of neutral feeling towards Triple H as one of the main powers that be. On one hand he has done a nice job bringing in tons of newer, young talent but on the other hand he's still the same old Triple H where he still feels the need to be the center of the show and put himself over everyone always. Hopefully that will change as he gets even more power and he gets older.

Cool story, maybe if you went to Troy you could be the one wearing a sheep mask....

It all depends on how they book Sting. If they treat him like "just another guy" then he'll only do decent business. But if they treat him like a legend and show and tell the newer fans why Sting wrestling in the WWE is a big deal then you're right it could be huge. You can potentially run endless feuds and "dream" matches with him vs. Cena, Punk, Bryan, Undertaker, Triple H, Rock, Lesnar etc. But again it all depends on if the WWE wants to make Sting look good or if they're only bringing him in for an ego trip and have him job out to Alberto Del Rio, Kane and Big Show since he's not a "WWE guy" and god forbid anyone get over or get wins that doesn't bleed WWE blood. Basically they can treat him like they did with The Rock returning or they can treat him like did with Goldberg.

Kind of a dud go home RAW. And the Cena/Orton stuff is just bland and boring. Can't wait for that feud to be over with.

Was gunna say the same thing, the entire show had so much more entertaining stuff. The ending is so forced, and Cena is literally rammed down your throat. My son will be 6 on Friday, and in the months since we went to Smackdown live, he has went from complete Cena freak to "whatever" and is more into Punk and Bryan and the Wyatts.

The big show/Lesnar stuff is cool. However, its quite predictible that Brock is jobbing to show for a couple of weeks and will pull out the W Sunday. Randomly Batista is going to go after Del Rio? ok........?

Can't wait till Rumble.....my sons birthday is Friday so we're getting it. First wrestling ppv I am getting since WM last year.

Del Rio had called out Batista on a random Smackdown a few weeks ago and Batista responded back to him on Tweeter so it wasn't that random. But it's Del Rio so it was nice to see him get beat up right?

The Rumble is usually always a fun show, mainly because of the Rumble match itself. You'd have to think either Batista or Bryan is winning the thing.

So will Bryan be in the rumble AND have a 1 on 1 with Bray?

Most people did miss it, the only reason why I knew about it was Batista apparently buried Del Rio in his tweet along with the rest of the locker room so there was talk he might have some heat on him coming back because of the comments and he ended up deleting the original tweet or something like that.

Last I heard due to Bryan's concussion (which he is now cleared to return to wrestle) the WWE is going to avoid putting him into any matches until the Rumble. My guess is they will have him in the Rumble match itself but that's it. They can hold off on the Bryan/Wyatt match until the Feb PPV.

I turned it on right at 8:40 (lol I still thought Raw started at 9 for some reason) and Bryan was in the ring doing his promo. So I almost missed it as well.

My mistake for reading a health report on Bryan before RAW started. I just assumed they would have taken him out of the one on one match just in case, but I guess it just means Bryan is healthy to go so that's a plus.

From what I am reading on reddit r/squaredcircle

Bryan will probably be in rumble as well.

  23. Samphin

Absolutely a tepid show. I think Bryan's concussion sort of threw this one into a state of flux. If he couldn't wrestle, they had to figure out some other pairings and ways to script things.

If they are going with Batista winning the Rumble after eliminating either Punk/Bryan late, the crowd is going to crap all over it. They better be careful about how they plan on eliminating those two guys in the match (assuming Bryan is in it).

Everything else pretty much sucked. I was impressed with Brock bumping like he was Dolph Ziggler out there for Show though. I tend to forget how agile that big dude really is.

One other thing, I DO like the slightly altered version of Randy Orton's character right now. Slightly unhinged, paranoid and starting to fall apart at the seams. I think he plays the part pretty convincingly, actually. I don't usually offer him praise, but kudos to him.

I am expecting Roman Reigns to get the "Diesel" push at the Rumble.

I haven't bought a PPV since WM18, nor have I ever watched one illegally, so that's a no but that will change once the Network starts up.

My cable company stopped offering WWE PPVs shortly after WM18. I would rent the PPVs from Blockbuster or either go over a friend's house or watch his taped copy if I knew the event was good.

I bought WM19 on DVD though when it was released, ditto for Summer Slam 2002. But it was around the time I stopped caring that much about wrestling, I would follow it, watch RAW every once and awhile but always read the RAW and Smackdown recaps. I got back into the WWE again around 2009ish or so but still never bothered ordering a PPV.

Right now there are no plans for Bryan to be in the Rumble match. The WWE can't be that stupid to leave him out right? This has to be a misdirection, I hope.

It might be good strategy, actually. If they have no plans on having him win, then the crowd will turn once he is eliminated and thus, crap all over who DOES win it.

As for paying for the PPV, I haven't "paid" for one since I used to have to do chores for my parents to pay for it. I think that will change with the WWE Network as well.

On a side note: I put some feelers out to a couple of guys I know that are still in the business about WM next year in Santa Clara. I had a hand in the construction of Levi's Stadium so I am trying to see if I can get access to the event. I have never been to a Wrestlemania so I will probably turn into a total fanboy mark if I do.

I actually heard a really good idea that if Bryan did have a concussion and wasn't cleared to wrestle at the Rumble, you can have Triple H come out and say he isn't cleared by the WWE doctor but Bryan can say he was by his doctor which could lead to a "Stone Cold Steve Austin circa 1997 angle while he was healing from his neck injury" where Bryan can go out and say it's obvious Triple H is holding him back on purpose which could lead to a Triple H/Bryan match at WM and if Bryan wins he gets a title shot. That way it could have kept Bryan in the spotlight even if he wasn't cleared and keep his heat etc.

I think it's lame if Bryan isn't in the Rumble match itself, even if he doesn't win I think the fans would be fine if Punk, Brock (although I don't think he's in the Rumble either) or Batista won it instead, anyone else yeah they probably crap over the result but that's never stopped the WWE before. Plus it would be great if Bryan/Punk could have a Warrior/Hogan RR90 moment where they're the only two guys in the ring for 2 minutes. The crowd would go nuts.

RAW did huge numbers rating wise for the first time in a long, long time. They drew in 4.86 million viewers and the biggest segment was the opening with Batista. The WWE is rightfully so blaming the big draw on Batista so yeah he's winning the Rumble on Sunday and the title at WM.

Also WWE seems pretty confident they will be able to sign Sting.

After the buzz from Bryans gigantic pop leaving the Wyatts the week prior, there is no way that didnt have at least SOME to do with the ratings jump. Batista was never a big deal to me....i know i am not everyone.....but hes just "meh" to me.

I get what you're saying and would agree with you however the segment breakdowns say otherwise. People turned on RAW at 8 pm to see the return of Batista and once that happened ratings slowly started to drop. Which hey is a good thing for the Orton/Cena haters out there.

I wasn't ever really a big Batista fan until about a year or so before he left when he turned heel, he was just great in the role both on the mike and in the ring. He really found something with that character and really ran with it. I'm fully expecting him to turn heel shortly after he wins the WWE title and end up working with the Authority.

I just can't believe he had enough pull years ago that they'd bring him back and the casual fan would be like 'oh my god! Batista is back! I gotta see this!" and turned it on.....maybe Taker, Stone Cold (of course)....the rock, etc.....but Batista?

I guess the ratings don't lie, but thats just odd to me. I will be honest, I was completely out of the loop from about 2008 till last year when my son got into it.

  39. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

The curiosity factor of a big name returning usually pops a higher rating. The key, of course, is the sustainability of that rating. Meaning, did people just check in to see what Batista looks like (Pitbull), or will they stick around next week and the week after to see where it goes?

My guess is the former, rather than the latter. Having said that, WWE should have a decent rating next week as it's the RAW after a huge PPV. SO it is possible they trick themselves into thinking Batista is a legit draw.

I maintain that he isn't and those numbers will start to trickle downward starting next week. But good for them for getting eyeballs to the screen. That is what it is all about, after all.

I am actually completely confused as to who will win the Rumble...which makes this a helluva PPV..

I think the WWE has pulled off this run-up to their big PPV season. You can't find fault in that.

BTW..NO way they hand Batista the main event at WM...I think he faces Lesnar at WM...and if he sticks...gets his shot at Summer Slam.
