Agreed. And I think even the prospective GM list hints that Philbin still wants people familiar with an up tempo college style offense at some point in their past.

**** mitigating risk and settling for good.

Lets take the risk if being great or terrible. Seriously. I cannot handle another meal of mediocrity.

Well if you consider not being innovative being average I'd agree. I'm not sure that is true though, its not like the concepts he employs are out dated. They are viable and effective in the NFL Imo.

I think I would disagree there. Yes, Ryan has issues. But in a Kubiak ZBS offense, Ryan would more often be throwing to wide open players rather than having to fit a throw into a tight window 60 yards down the field with a defender not that far behind

I'm not a doctor, but I spent the night at a holiday inn....er anyway, Kubiak, by most reports had a TIA (transient ischemic attack) or as is referred to by us lay people as a mini stroke. Thats probably a simplification of the underlying issue that caused it. It could be that it's not the first one he's had either and it could be that there will be more of them in the future, but the bottom line is that Kubiak can do things to control these attacks if he chooses to. It's likely he's already set up the necessary life changes, meds and doctor follow ups to lessen the chances of more attacks. I wouldn't disqualify him for that reason, unless he hasn't taken those steps...

As to his capability, sure, I'd love to have him aboard. He fits pretty much with Philbin's philosophies, has a proven track record, particularly of working with QBs and he can still be a bit of a crutch for Philbin, as Sherman was supposedly, to advise him thru certain situations a HC comes across... The one thing I've seen from him that may push Philbin away, is his schemes are bit more balance oriented between run and pass whereas Philbin has a penchant to lean more on the pass than the run. I think they could work together easily enough, but both would have to give in some...

Additionally, this would give Kubiak a chance to get his tarnished star shined back up. Bringing a consistent offense to this team likely would result in 2-3 more wins and put us in the running for postseason... Of course, personnel-wise there is work to do on the OL and possibly the RBs. Maybe add another TE as well... But there's a lot of pieces for Kubiak to work with. He may even bring out more in Miller than we've seen so far...afterall, the Texans have had a lot of RBs look pretty good under him...

If the offense improved under Kubiak, I could see that possibly being a reason for him to be considered for another head coaching position in the NFL. I just don't see him being under consideration for the head coaching job of the Dolphins if he was the teams OC and Philbin fails. That would mean that the team failed to perform under Philbin and the rest of the coaching staff. Under those circumstances, I think Ross and the new GM would look outside the Dolphin coaching staff for a new head coach.

I also like Kubiak far more as an OC than as a head coach. I think with the talent he had in Houston, he underachieved as the head coach of that team.

If we got rid of Teddy T that would be a good pickup for the Phins. He know Philbin very well.
