Sdid her job. What I don't like is, and this has been reported lots of times, she wants to be the first female GM. If she was trying to create the rift between Philbin and Ireland so Ireland got fired in the belief she could take the job, now I have a problem. I know this is basic work site politics and it happens in every industry, I don't want it to happen on my favourite football team. She has done a gerat job with the cap but if she helped the dysfunction of the team, I want her gone too. I want Philbin gone as well if he just stopped talking to Ireland. If this is true, this story, I want them all gone. I don't like all my current co-workers and I work in a very rich and competitive industry, Oil and gas, but I still talk and work with them daily. As the Head Coach, you can't just stop talking to the GM. You have a working relationship. The GM should be allowed to critique your work, he is your boss in the football org chart. If this is a true story, even if its not, I'm to the piont now that I say we get someone like Gamble and allow him to grab Roman from the 49ers or someone he deems fit for the position and start a new.

    To add, Sumlit....

I don't question that some of this actually occured, but in what context ?? The article was written in the context that the backstabbing and BS was directed directly at and about JI and no one else. We all know that Mando is JI's mouthpiece and has been from the beginning. We can all assume that JI wasn't exactly happy to to be asked to relinquish some of his authority and chose to leave rather than stay and fight it out. Or it could be that he didn't have a choice, but Ross allowed that he could depart mutually so that JI and Ross, to a certain extent, could both save face.

This whole article has too much direct information, but it's obviously skewed information, as in from JI point of view. That's what makes any of us following this team to be very wary. It's not a matter as to whether any of the info is true or not but that it's such a detailed account, it has to have come from Jeff Ireland...period.

And I wouldn't be upset at all if that happened. Frankly I'm of the mindset that if you decide for a change, then it should be a complete one, not a half and half. Certainly Philbin has not shown any particular evidence of talent and intangibles that would be irreplaceable, and Aponte if anything seems more focused on making a name for herself and breaking barriers than to truly get this franchise off the ground.

I just don't believe this story, and not because it isn't plausible, but because it is coming from Armando.

Not all that hard to believe IMO, lots of circumstantial evidence out there.

I don't think Ross was manipulated. I think he saw both sides of the debate and was trying to find a middle ground. He seems to have forced Philbin to can Sherman and was intent on bringing in someone to supervise Ireland and settle any disputes between he and Philbin. Ireland balked and now he's gone.

I would say it's true everywhere. People just seem afraid we're not going to get a good hire because of some stupid undue loyalty by Ross. Was just using the tweets by Darlington to show that NFL execs don't believe this to be the case.

And the question is, why did she do this? Was it really in her job description? Qui bono? Is this really me buying onto a story because of a previous bias or you dismissing a story because of a previous bias? Don;t bother answering that because you obviously don;t have the answer. Your bias is loud and clear, don;t lose site of that.

Other than that, quite frankly, the story rings true to me, regardless of my exisiting bias. This year has been a circus, and the story is a peek inside the big tent. Believe it, don;t believe it, whatever. Just don't act like you definitively know what is accurate and what isn't. You don't.

It didn't say her sights were set on taking his job. It said she felt threatened by having him as her boss so she aligned with someone else of power for leverage. Your "I would have done my job better" and "how insecure do you have to be" comments should've been directed at HER, you know- since she's the one who felt she couldn't do her job w/o joining forces with Philbin. Nice try though. You'd be the sackless one, dude. If you're the boss of an employee whom you know is conspiring behind your back with malevolent intentions that may be detrimental to your employment, you're gonna want that person fired. Only a naive coward of a manager would stand by and watch someone else try to take him down, regardless of the job he's doing.

You act like managers have never before lost their jobs b/c of conniving employees, as if doing their job well guarantees them immunity to the point they don't have to worry about any conspiring against them. Must be nice living in your world where everything's daisies and snickerdoodles.

Dude, Aponte started to align with others BEFORE Ireland wanted her fired. That's WHY he wanted her fired.

Never mind..... the chronology of the article makes it seem as though Aponte joined with Philbin before Ireland wanted her fired. See below.

Wow, so now, 6 yrs of JI hate is turned over to Aponte...

There is too much information in that article that could only have come from one source. I'm sure it wasn't from Gaine or Aponte or Philbin for that matter because they are still there and have to clean up after JI's 6 yrs of drool. It's likely another person is coming in and will be a part of that clean up, but seriously, how can you read that article and not see 'sour grapes' all over it ?? Forget who said/did what and just look at the info that is in it...it's "Poor me Jeffy" talking, no doubt. He got the boot, so all he can do is smear the names of the other principles.

I'm sure there is some truth in that report, but there are shades of truth. There are facts that mean one thing to JI's pov and something different to Aponte or Philbin's pov. I'm not an Ireland hater. I thought he's always gotten too much blame for things that were not always in his control, but the fact is, he's gone. And this information that Mando is spewing wouldn't be coming from the folks that are still in the organization...because, if for nothing more, as several have said, even Ross would have been smart enough to wipe the slate clean if this stuff had actually occured or Ross had found out that they occured, in the light that Mando presented it...

I really think there is much ado about 'sour grapes' here and less to do with Aponte's struggle to become the first female GM and Philbin's abilities as a spokesperson when he's up at the podium in front of cameras... While those things may very well be true, that doesn't mean that Aponte's goal was to get Ireland canned, because if I was her I'd worry that getting him canned may very well get myself canned...

The problem is, whether it came before or after, it stinks like a bad fart. You might not have a problem with all of this Machiavellian bs, but I'd rather have the Miami Dolphins rise above that and proceed in a non dysfunctional manner, with people working together as opposed to splintering off into warring factions.

Other people on the team already! :smackhead:

Jesus Christ this isn't Game of Thrones. Cozying up to people at work is NOT a fireable offense. He drew first blood so she played the game better then he did. He felt unnecessarily threatened and docuhed out by trying to get her fired.

She was good at her job and wanted to rise up, its one thing to be threatened by that, its another to try and get her fired instead of focusing on your own duties.

She's the one who felt threatened, which is why she cozied up to people in the first place. It was an agenda. Her power hungry self clearly started her conniving ways shortly after Parcells stepped down, before Ireland wanted her fired. It's her actions that onset all of this. Why would you want any part of that crap within our organization? Do you believe it's conducive for a thriving, winning environment?

If anything, this article's "facts" are more of an indictment on Ireland's lack of business savvy than anything else. It could have a reverse impact, and that would be the cherry on top.
