That quote has actually been around for a few months now. I want Ireland gone, but that's an asinine statement. Matt Millen's teams were among the worst in the league during his tenure and damn near every single one of his top picks were busts.
Seriously, Ireland has not been good but to say he's worse than Matt Millen is criminal. Ireland is light years better at finding talent.
The comment likely was not about acquiring talent. The comment is likely more about how he handles himself as a person on his job. The owner is probably amazed that he still has a job considering all the public mishaps that have happened to this team that can be directly tied to his lack of integrity.
Ireland isn't that much better than anyone. Ted Thompson and Jerry Reese are light years better than Millen, Ireland is slightly better. but he's inferior to a ton of GMs, and that includes the unemployed ones, a group he should be joining shortly.
I don't think you know how terribly awful Millen was. Those Lions teams would have loved to be us right now. Other than that though I agree. Ireland isn't good enough to keep his job.
