http://www.drafttek.com/ I could live with Taylor Lewan in the 1st and Santreal Henderson in the 3rd. That being said, I was really impressed by what I saw of Greg Robinson recently, not much there not to like. The film of that Vandy LT against Jadeveon Clowney was impressive as well. Still like the Alabama LT for the left or right side, I never bought into the theory that 1st round picks are for for LTs only. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIHKWAhMvKc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aOxLkn6TS0
When you post these it would probably help if you went ahead and just named all of the players they have Miami taking. Just a suggestion.
To that end they have Miami taking: Pick #022: OT Taylor Lewan, Michigan Pick #054: DT Ego Ferguson, LSU Pick #086: OT Seantrel Henderson, Miami-FL Pick #118: OG Jonathan Brown, Illinois Pick #150: TE/FB Chris Coyle, Arizona State
And just for the heck of it here are some players available at each of the picks, that end up being taken before our next pick, that interest me: Pick #022: CB Bradley Roby, OT Cameron Erving, WR Odell Beckham, OG Cyril Richardson, TE Eric Ebron, CB Justin Gilbert, DE Stephon Tuitt, RB Melvin Gordon, LB Ryan Shazier, DE Kony Ealy, OLB Kyle Van Noy, DB Lamarcus Joyner, OG Gabe Jackson, CB Kyle Fuller, OLB Vic Beasley Pick #054: OT Cedric Ogbuehi, S Dion Bailey, S Kurtis Drummond, DT Will Sutton, CB E.J. Gaines, TE C.J. Fiedorowicz, DT Aaron Donald, DE DeAndre Coleman, WR Brandin Cooks, RB Tre Mason Pick #086: DB Antone Exum, TE Xavier Grimble, WR Cody Hoffman, OT Morgan Moses, DE James Gayle, RB Marion Grice, S Deone Buchanon, RB Lache Seastrunk, OT Ja'Wuan James, DE Aaron Lynch, OLB Dee Ford Pick #118: WR DeVante Parker, TE Colt Lyerla, WR Devin Street, DT Dominique Easley, WR Tevin Reese, OG Brandon Thomas, RB Antonio Andrews, S Kenny Ladler, C Weston Richburg Pick #150: CB Bene Benwikere, WR Donte Moncrief Not Drafted: LB Andrew Jackson, RB Carlos Hyde, RB Karlos Williams, DL George Uko, CB Carrington Byndom, DE Scott Crichton, S Nickoe Whitley, QB Jimmy Garoppolo, RB James White, OT Cornelius Lucas, C Gabe Ikard, RB Rajion Neal, OT Billy Turner, WR Kadron Boone, OG Arie Kouandjio, DE Roosevelt Nix, WR Venric Mark, RB Storm Johnson, LB DeDe Lattimore, QB Keith Wenning, LB Walker May, OT Charles Leno, DE Larry Webster, WR L'Damian Washington, OG Josue Matias, CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste, OT Cameron Fleming Not on Big Board: OT Greg Robinson, WR Kelvin Benjamin Keep in mind none of this reflects my rankings. Just naming the players that I have interest in and then listing them in order of where Draftek has them going in Rounds 1 thru 5, then listing the ones they didn't have drafted in the top five rounds but are on their top 500 big board. Those are listed in order of their ranking. Some of them are downright shocking.
Question regarding a couple of USF DE's in your neck of the woods- who do you think is a better prospect, Aaron Lynch or Ryne Giddens, and at what position? I'm assuming that you've seen quite a bit of both- from what little I've seen my concern is that both are 'tweeners. I like Lynch's size/length but I'm not so sure about the quickness/explosion factor, and in Giddens I see a smaller DE kind of like Olivier Vernon with some pass rushing ability, but I expected to see more. I do like what I see from Giddens in terms of lateral pursuit, but I was expecting more athleticism from Lynch. But anyway that's why I'm asking the question, because I haven't seen nearly enough of either player. Colt Lyerla- not so sure about that one. I could roll with Da'Rick Rogers as per the off field problems, but this guy seems to be in a different league, I wonder to what extent he's draftable. Maybe he's turning his life around, who knows. As per "problem child" players, this former Iowas RB looks pretty interesting to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XB5nG_HpYCk
Not sure where you see that, I'm seeing 2 OL in 5 rounds in this mock (btw 5 round mock not 4 round, my bad). Taylor Lewan rd 1 and Santreal Henderson rd 3. 2nd rd pick is a DT from LSU.
Colt Lyerla is an addict and you can't trust an addict. But at the same time, he's now a diagnosed addict, and that means rehab and all that stuff. He's not one of these guys that gets to pretend he's straight. I'm not proposing Miami use a high pick on him. But if you're convinced he's hit rock bottom and circled the wagons properly to get over his problem then you might take a shot. There have been plenty of addicts that were NFL stars...guys like Cris Carter and Michael Irvin. As for the USF guys I don't think it's close, Aaron Lynch has the most NFL talent by a long shot. He looked like a very interesting player early in his career with Notre Dame as he was huge and was a guy that was much more likely to shift inside to DT than to shift outside to OLB. That's what he was, essentially, a Justin Tuck type. At USF they had him drop a bunch of weight and be more of a rush linebacker, standing up. It was a sound theory and maybe worth trying but I'm not sure the results ended up all that interesting. In my opinion, he gets too upright to be all that interesting when rushing from an up position. I think you need to get him big and strong again and have him sit down and be a defensive end. He's NFL talent though. And there were genuine signs this year that he put his past character/work ethic issues behind him. That makes me more confident in him. He could definitely be like a Greg Hardy at the next level. I'm not sure I can say the same about Giddens.
Considering Miami needs to replace 4 out of 5 offensive linemen this off season, and we still don't know how deep the rabbit hole goes with Mike Pouncey in this whole Aaron Hernandez gun running mess...I could definitely see it.
Well, they have it listed as a 4 round mock at the bottom of picks 1-17 and it's actually a 5 round mock. but I'm still seeing 2 OL out of 5 picks (Lewan rd 1, Henderson, rd 3), not sure where you're getting 3 in 4. Actually, if they pick well this year (see: Dallas Thomas, et al) I wouldn't mind say 2 OT and a OG, pretty good year for it. Even if McKinnie is back next year he's 34, John Jerry is what he is and Clabo is playing better, but making a lot of money and we need players there plus depth. I'm still wondering if Dallas Thomas can turn it around or if he will be another OL bust for us. Early signs = not good.
No, he's on their big board which means he could have been drafted in their mock. He just wasn't ranked high enough on their big board. But hell they had Josue Matias (the best guard in the country) ranked somewhere like around 300 or so, so I mean...
So why would he come out? I don't see him making that dumb decision. Next year he returns and probably would get 30% of the carries and his stock would sky rocket.
Three current starters are going to be FAs (I would think Brenner would be RFA at worst, so I'm not including him). So I'm not sure 4 actually need replacing, as they may think Brenner can start next year. Additionally we may sign a few FA OL with the intention of them starting (like perhaps Branden Albert). So while I can certainly see us drafting 3 OL in the draft, I personally don't see it happening in the top 4 rounds. Not saying I would be against it, just that I can't see it.
I think people are overestimating what Sam Brenner has actually done. He's played in four games and not particularly well in any of the four. Bryant McKinnie has played particularly well since joining Miami (when not being forced to play next to Brenner, who needs his water bailed)...but McKinnie is old, injury prone, and I'd like to not head into 2014 trying to count on him not doing what he did in Baltimore.
I agree, I keep reading people wanting to plug Brenner in at guard for next year. I mean honestly, do people NOT want to fix this big issue? We have big holes on the OL, they need to be addressed with high priority.
Clabo is overpaid, who knows how much money McKinnie will want next year and if he'll be healthy, Jerry is a multiyear disappointment, Will Yeatman blew out his knee, Incognito is gone and there's not much to choose from on the PS. In terms of talent and in terms of saving money it might be an excellent year to load up. Also, we're pretty lucky imo that Tannehill hasn't been laid out this year with all the sacks and pressure he's faced- I don't think that 2 OTs and a OG are unreasonable at all in the 1st 4 or 5 picks, the OL needs quite a bit of work. Good year to get it done.
The Dolphins line is in bad need of a complete overhaul and this year features an especially deep OL class. This is one of those things...don't overthink it. If you end up taking a lot of OLs, so be it. But another thing is, don't overlook guys you know to be good veteran players just because this is a deep class. Rising seas lift all boats. The glut of talent available in the draft makes the veterans cheaper. I think there are a number of veterans worth pursuing, including as I said in the main forum Rodger Saffold, Anthony Collins and (in a trade) Matt Tobin. A smart value is a smart value.
