He may be lifetime 77% but last year he was at 60-65% all season. And that was really the first time he was asked to play extensively all year.
Knicks News: The Knicks have offered Bulls PG Chris Duhon a 2 year, $6 million dollar deal. Rotoworld.com
Davis, Clippers News Heating Up The latest report from Clippers land and their target Baron Davis is that there are talks around the league that the Clippers and Davis have already agreed to a contract. If this was to be true, the Clippers would have likely offered up a 5 year deal worth about $60 million. A league source has downplayed it but it it still a possibility. Davis is likely not to be back with the Warriors due to their hot pursuit for Wizards free agent Gilbert Arenas. If there is no PG signing by Warriors, Monta Ellis could fill the void. Summarized from the San Francisco Chronicle.
Knicks Other Possibilities Mike D'Antoni has admitted that there have been trade talks. The Knicks other top PG targets are said to be Golden States Monta Ellis, Sacramento's Beno Udrih, Bobcats Raymond Felton, Bulls Kirk Hinrich and Memphis PG's Conley and Lowry. D'Antoni doesn't consider Nate Robinson a true PG. The Heat and the Mavericks are chasing Center Desagana Diop. Kings are exploring the possibility of shopping Forward Ron Artest. The Kings are also trying to resign their PG, Beno Udrih. Summarized from SI.com.
Damn, that Phunwin guy's a genius. Well, except for the part about Davis thinking that wasn't enough money. I think that's a very reasonable contract to get Davis, if this is true. That's a little high, I think. I can't imagine he'd get more than $1.5M a year from anyone else.
Well, that makes two of us. Felton could be a nice pickup for them, though. He's obviously available, and the Bobcats are one of the few teams that would be able to absorb some of the Knicks' crappy contracts if it came to that.
Yeah thats what the news is so far. They say that is the likely offer because they will also try to resign Elton Brand. It could be a bigger offer. Damn Phil, on the money. Good call.
If that deal proves to be true between Davis and Clippers, that would be terrible for Davis. He left 17.8 million on the table from the Warriors who are a better team. The Clippers have been his only suitor.
Felton would be perfect since he likes to play up tempo and is a NYC kid to begin with. Plus he kinda actually attempts to play D sometimes. Robinson as a PG is a joke. Hes Allen Iverson in a smaller body with less skills. Hes a decent sparkplug type at times who would benefit a team who wants to really have an instant offense type off the bench...come to think of it Mike D'Antoni, meet your better version of Leandro Barbosa. Regarding Duhon...its the Knicks. Money is no object and the salary cap is only something rumored. Part of it probably has to do with the fact other teams might have offered Duhon more years and the Knicks not wanting to go past 2010 with any contracts had to gve more per year
Barbosa is on the trade block as well as Diaw. I wonder if D'Antoni would go after either of the two? I know earlier this off-season there was talks that D'Antoni would try and pry away Nash from the Suns. I dont think it will happen but hey.
I hope they dont touch Barbosa or diaw. Not a big fan of either. Nash would be amazing but the Knicks dont have what it takes to make that kind of move. Either the cajones or the players necessary.
They make a LOT of money over the next four years. Barbosa is at 27 million and Diaw at 36 million. That wouldn't help the bid for James in 2010.
Arenas Close To Accepting Wizards Offer Gilbert Arenas is close to accepting Wizards max offer of 6 years, $127 million dollars. The Warriors also offered a contract of 5 years, $101 million dollars. Per ESPN.
Agent 0 living up to his nickname. man thats a lot of zero's! Gilbert will be filling Arena's in washington for a long time.
News: Lakers have shown interest in trading for Kings Forward Ron Artest. Artest's contract runs up at the end of the this upcoming season. ESPN.com
I guess that means Odom is gone. Would've liked to see us field a 7'1, 7'0, 6'10 frontcourt but oh well, Artest is a good defender at the 3 and looks like a natural fit at the 3 (good jumpshot, intense defense). Dunno whether I want Odom's rebounding, versatility, and size (maybe also character) more or Artest's man defense, jumper, and aggressiveness more. Of course, unless the Kings want to rebuild and take in Radmanovic, low draft picks, and scrubs the way the Grizz bit.
Interestingly that is who Marc Stein mentioned as well. He says if anything was to happen, it would involve Odom. He says he could see a scenario where Odom goes to SAC in exchange for Kenny Thomas and Artest. In other news: ESPN's John Hollinger says that the Sixers are planning a huge offer for Atlanta Hawks Forward Josh Smith
Well they certainly won't take "Space Cadet" Radmanovic. Not sure I want Kenny Thomas, who's a bit undersized, but he works hard. Essentially, he'd be Rodman-ultralite. If a third team can get involved, that'd be ideal because Odom could move to the East Coast which he prefers.
Hm.. Odom to the Heat in a three-way deal? Would that work? NBA News Per Chris Broussard Baron Davis is likely out of Warriors plans but don't count him completely out. Every one around the league believes Davis will be a Clipper come end of FA. The talk is that he will roughly make 10 million a year over a 4 year spread, if indeed he does sign with the Clippers. Also, Brand will likely be back in Clippers land. Gilbert Arenas has not officially signed the Wizards offer due to the money. Arenas is contemplating taking less money to stay with the Wizards so they can build the supporting cast around the big three. He is likely to take about $110 million instead of the originally $127 million offered. Dwayne Wade and LeBron James have stated that if their is a championship contending supporting cast around them come 2010, they will stay with their original teams. If they're team is not a championship contender, they will bolt. I know its very early but that's just the report. According to John Hollinger, the Pacers Shawne Williams and Jamaal Tinsley will likely not be back with the team. ESPN.com
With Brand possibly staying with the Clips, I wouldn't doubt it and it'd seem reasonable. Riley loves Odom, Odom loves Riley, and they could use a guy like him. Heat would probably give up a combination of a PF and a pick or two in that situation. At first early last offseason, New Jersey was being floated around considering he's from there and the Nets had a dearth of bigmen.
He couldnt have gotten 17.8 mill from anyone could he? He knew he was taking a pay cut when he opted out. I cant see the Clippers going much higher than that unless Brand is willing to take a larger pay cut to play with Davis.
lol, that'd be an incredible deal for the Clippers. Brand would have to come back after that signing. He could make up for the scoring loss of Maggette and fill the biggest hole on the team, pg.
All I know is that Phil's usually hesitant about midseason trades. Pau was an anomaly and I'm guessing Phil signed on once he heard it involves shipping out a rookie and a guy dumber than a rookie for a star. I would really want a third team involved so we don't have to face Odom so many times. Miami and New Jersey would be my preferences and likely his.
NBA News: Chris Paul and the Hornets have agreed to a long term contract that will be at the max. The deal is likely around 4-5 years and worth about $90 million. The Clippers have lost out on free agent Beno Udrih. Udrih has agreed to a five year deal with the Sacramento Kings. The deal is likely worth around $33.5 million. Baron Davis has stated that the Clippers are a real possibility but he still wants to be with Golden State. Here is a email message to J.A. Adande from Baron Davis. News per ESPN
I'm not really upset about missing out on Udrih, he was going to be overpaid anyway. I'm worried about what GS does when they cant get Arenas. If they turn their attention back to Davis at that point they can offer more money.
I hear you on this. But one thing that Nelson has been stressing is the playing time of the younger players which would not benefit Baron Davis. To add to that, he has somewhat a rift with Nelson from last season when Nelson benched Davis in the last game which they would have entered the playoffs if they won. Also, this is likely Donnie Nelson's last year so there will be a new coach and likely a new philosophy for there team. You have to wonder if Davis will be up for that.
Personally, if I am the Nets, I am on the phone to the Lakers and inquiring about Odom. Why? Because getting him now and LeBron in 2010 will set the up nicely for a run at the title when they move to Brooklyn. I would be happy to trade Lamar for say...Devin Harris.
The nets have sean williams, Nenad Krstic, Brook Lopez, Yi, and Josh Boone. the last thing they need is a big with a huge contract. I think thats why they traded RJ, a far better player then Lamar Scrodom.
