Haha. Travis made a funny While at the same time, what you say has MUCH merit. If he isnt banned for a stint, it could actually be a good move for all involved.
Thats what im thinking. If he ends up there, and isnt suspended or worse, I think this situation could work out very well for both Benson and the Texans
The Texans really haven't had a great RB in their franchise hisory. However, I still think it was a very smart move to pass on Reggie Bush and draft Mario Williams, even though I'll admit, at the time, I thought it was stupid becuase I WAS in love with Bush.
I agree, assuming they block for him unlike the Bears. I don't know if they are in bad of a situation as may think. If they have a healthy Slaton, he will be a player for them. In the one cut and go scheme they are running from Denver, he thrives in it.
Yeah, you think You and the rest of the media made him out to be a darling... sure glad to see THAT put to rest.
They've been using Ron Dayne for the last few years, after trying Wali Lundy and Ahman Green, neither of which worked out. I'd guess that Benson has more upside than any of those players. It also might be good for him to go back to Texas - a state where he had success in college.
You know whats funny, they could have taken a guy like Tashard choice. Slayton may be a great slasher, and a perfect fit chematically with the zone blocking scheme. but, he is too small to make it through the whole season. At least Choice is bigger and could have made more of an impact over the long haul IMO.
Benson's downside since hitting the pro's (Aside from the law that is) is his durability. He took many hits druing his college career. Of course, he could also REALLY excell in a zone blocking scheme.
Bro with NFL rosters down to only 80 positions instead of the mid 80's with NFL Europe gone, teams don't have the room on the rosters right now. Here is what Adam Shefter had to say about it in his around the league. http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d8091a9e1
