I see him get quite a bit of hate on here and while he does give up some plays here and there he also makes them. He's a hard hitting, high effort guy that was picked in the 7th round and I feel that while he might not have a high rating or great stats he deserves to be on this team.

Not a huge fan, came up pretty big today, but i'd still need more to change my mind. That's just me though.

Edit: Don't think he's a bad player for what he is. Just irritating at times.

Rashad Jones had another bad game though. Carroll has really come on strong

You're not a fan of players who heavily exceed their draft status, Derek? He's a 7th rounder who contributes and has made a few big plays this year. That's significantly more than what can be said for a typical 7th rounder who is lucky to still be with the team that drafted him.

BACK UP TODD FRAND. I was just saying i'm not a huge fan of him. Several bone head plays that have made me cringe in the past, but the dude has been playing pretty good; and for a 7th round player I agree he has exceeded his draft status for sure. Everyone has players they aren't too fond of, he's just been one of mine and irks me at times with his fluidity. But for what he is I don't have much room to complain. :knucks:. I hope he keeps on keepin' on. and I like his story too.

It's easier for me to talk about what a let down Jones has been more so than how good jimmy is... but man, whats that his 2nd or 3rd punt block?

Going into today's game, Jimmy Wilson had given up 67.9 quarterback rating in coverage, which is 18th among all NFL corner backs that have played at least 25% of their snaps.

Brent Grimes was 6th with a 62.6 opposing quarterback rating.
Nolan Carroll, another guy Dolphins fans love to hate on, was 14th with a 66.1 opposing quarterback rating.
    Jimmy Wilson was 18th with a 67.9.

Dimitri Patterson has only played 119 snaps, but he has given up a 36.1 opposing quarterback rating, which is second among all corner backs in the NFL.

Miami's corner backs have been VERY GOOD this. I said it in another thread. Kevin Coyle had a history in Cincinnati of taking cast offs from other teams (Nate Clements, Adam Jones, Reggie Nelson, Chris Crocker) and having a very good secondary. At this point in time, I don't think he is a good coordinator, but if he has a hand in coaching the secondary at all, you can probably see with his history why our guys are playing so well. If they get Reshad Jones back to the level he was at last year, Miami might have the best secondary in the league from a numbers standpoint.

Well called game. I was surprised at the lack of cheating on the refs part.

This is what I was trying to say. The dude is just tough and it's hard to not like a guy like that.

I've given Wilson plenty of crap, but he has played very well this season. Carroll has also been very good this season.

Carroll and Wilson are both playing way better then they did last year. They are both lower round draft picks that have taken some time to develop. I like both of them.... I think the Fins have to do something about extending Carroll... sooner rather then later.

Was that you giving him crap in the game thread right before he batted a ball down on pass defense on 3rd down... then blocked the punt? :chuckle:

Right in that same boat. I have never been a big fan of Jimmy Wilson or Nolan Carroll either. But, both have played admirably in our secondary. I can admit when I am wrong and both have played at a pretty high level and really have improved and I think Coyle plays a good part in that. Agree that I am not nuts about his overall work as a coordinator but he does know how to make a secondary work.

Also if Jones can get back to a high level and get his head on straight I really like our secondary. I believe Chris Clemons needs to be re-signed. He isn't a stud playmaker but he is the most steady person in then secondary behind Grimes. Speaking of Grimes, "Pay that Man his money" - John Malkovich: Rounders. Dude is everything we could've hoped for. Now the key to me is if our draft picks can develop. Patterson has played a high level but the issue is when he plays which is few and far between. If Jamar Taylor can get healthy and have a year of study in this system I believe he could be a nice piece. Will Davis we knew was going to be more of a project but he has ball-hawking ability.

Was very pleasantly surprised. I waited for them and they never came. (And they shouldn't have)
