Opinion: Jeff Ireland Will Not Survive to 2014

I think they'll need a 6-2 second half to get in the playoffs. Maybe 5-3 but that could be tough. All that matters is if Ross considered this a playoff or bust season. I'm not sure if he did. If not this season I'd definitely think by next season.

 

I wouldn't say I'm OK with it.

I'd say I'm viewing the Parcells-Ireland-Sparano tenure and the Ireland-Philbin project as a separate entities.

It's not fair hire a guy to build a shopping center then halfway thru the project tell him to tear it down, build an apartment complex instead, and not give him some extra time to get the job done.

 

How long is extra time?

When is Ireland's drop dead date?

Surely enough time has lapsed to judge Ireland without the stench of Parcells , any odour now is his responsibility imo .

 

Either Ireland is the answer or he isn't . If he is you stay the course , if he isn't the longer you wait , the longer you wait ... for success imo.

 

That would be funny. Just enough to justify keeping Ireland but not enough to appease the Firelanders.

Ireland certainly doesn't behave like a GM with a drop dead date. He hired a guy with ZERO head coaching experience to be HC. He allowed a slew of established vets to leave then replaced them with younger guys, rookies, and future draft picks. He's not using all of his cap space or making panicky trades like the one Indy made for Trent Richardson.

Either Ireland is blissfully unaware of how close he is to being fired OR there's a lot of fans blissfully unaware of how much job security he has.

Ross PR on ESPN....no mention of IRELAND at all.....high praise offered for Philbin.....damning evidence it seems that IRELAND is out the door.

I am an observer...and if this was a trial...yes, I lean one way when Prosecution goes, and lean another when Defense team goes....hahahahaa.....normal during course of that type of back and forth. However, if this was an opening statement, and there are 2 people clearly involved under that leadership, and this lead guy fails to mention/praise one, or in this case, only PRAISES one....yes, I say the other dude should be worried.

If there was bullying in the locker room and there is a big problem, Philbin should be the one who is fired.

In fact, with the Dolphins the more praise a person gets the bigger the chance they are let go.

Cam Cameron was praised before he was fired, as was Sparano.

 

Apples to Oranges, as that is single coach at time of strife over record, etc (i.e. an annual rite in NFL)...this is Coach and GM being speculated about over scandal, and Owner goes out of his way to clearly single one out publicly in praise, and never utter the name of the utter. That is like Egyptians striking the name from clay tablets stuff.

I have to believe if you put up a poll....and all the news reports about that PR by Ross tomorrow; the polls will say they would rather be Philbin than Ireland...and that not mentioning Ireland is nail in coffin. Its common sense in that setting. You mention both, or mention none. But if bash only one, or praise only one, and leave the other unmentioned, death knell.

 

Which is why Philbin had to be defended, over and over again.

 

It felt like: well we have to give these idiots something to do.
