Doesn't matter at this point. The Media make opinions, and drive the agenda. They can get Philbin fired if they want to.

Doubtful. Only the fans could get Philbin fired by not showing up. The media is just reporting on the chaos and bad morale that goes with losing. If we were winning, this would all be "colorful," the way the 90s Cowboys were "colorful." When you're losing, "colorful" becomes chaotic and poorly managed.
Winning covers a multitude of sins, and losing is the only unpardonable sin in pro football.

I am going to take up for Adam beasley here on his "confrontation" with Philbin, as I ehard the entire exchange and Beasley asked a completely legitimate football question that Philbin refused to answer.

Beasley asked if Pouncey would miss any time due to the subpoena. Instead of saying "I don't know" or "We won't know until we have more facts", both of which are true and completely innocuous, Philbin pulled out the "it's not a football matter" answer.

It was then that Beasley pressed him for some kind of comment on the situation, pointing out to Philbin that there were 30 reporters in the room, some from national networks like CNN who have no interest in the gameplan for the Bengals game. When he still refused to comment that's when Beasley got a little snippy and asked why he wouldn't show some support for Pouncey and that by saying nothing it indicates non-support.

Joe Philbin has either been trained, or has decided, to say absolutely nothing on the vast majority of matters. A truthful answer to beasley's question would have been completely appropriate and would not have affected anything. Just say that you don't know.

It's the failure to even say that that pisses people off.

I realize most coaches try to clap their team on, I'd just like to see some fire from Philbin, just once, to light a fire under these players butts, and that play was IMO the right time to do it.

That's not him though, and there nothing wrong with that.

In the end, this **** only matters because we can't win. Start winning an this ALL goes away.

It is ironic that the Fins are secretive to a fault on minor BS, but then the most private of all private medical information, a possible mental health issue, gets out.

Come on Sec, you can't be serious with this?

Outside of the Heat, nobody gets more fawning coverage in this town than Al Golden and the Canes still don't draw despite their ranking

I thought the line of questioning was fine and should have been answered, but I thought he was out of line in couching it with an editorial comment on "Philbin's role with the team."

The media can absolutely keep fans away by pushing story lines. The Canes are a horrible example. They only sell out when a top 25 team comes in or a rival like FSU or UF.

This is Pro Sports..This current crop is actively campaigning against this regime. It turns fans off.

And again, if we were winning, nothing the media said would matter. I certainly hope the owner is more focussed on who to fire and who to hire to make the team a winner rather than how to get more positive press. Given Ross' record though, I have my doubts about that.

Exactly, they aren't fooling anyone, and the sooner the bunch of them are cleaned out, the better. I used to be in Philbin's corner but hearing the crap from the last couple of days he and Ireland all need to go.

Some of the comments on here are ignorant, shallow and show a total lack of caring and understanding.

I don't see how you can't take his comment serious. When the media does this it paints a very negative picture of the Dolphins and fans don't want to root for the team, period. I'd say after the past 15 years, the Dolphins has one of the biggest faltering fan bases in all of American sports. Those fans moved on to winning teams after waiting years for this team to do ANYTHING, there's lots of Ravens fans here because of their recent Super Bowl, lots of Giants fans because of their two Super Bowls. And now we're having another year of the same nonsense. Broncos nation is coming to Miami after this season is over, though I think I heard some fans cheering when Tebow lead the Broncos to a 4th quarter comeback in our own stadium so they probably are already here.

Fans are less interested because we haven't been relevant in a decade plus. What lipstick was the media supposed to put on Cam Cameron or Saban's walk out?

Well that is Section's point, the media definitely does their part by writing these grotesque articles about the Dolphins. Fans are reading, and they're reading a clown show going on in Davie. They're reading that we're on a 4 game losing streak, Dolphins players are playing 4th grade level jokes at lunch causing one of their starters to go insane, dysfunction in the front office, dysfunction in the locker room, and they're also reading that the Bengals are one of the better teams in the AFC and have MUCH more talent on their team than Buffalo and we have to face them tonight.

You think they're going to skip Halloween for the game tonight? This forum and the other forum might watch the game, the rest of NFL Network's ratings will be from the city of Cincinnati.

So what should the media do? Not report on those stories?

If we were 5-2 or 6-1 right now none of these media stories would keep people from being excited about the game. The media didn't cause the 4 game losing sreak or the decade plus of irrelevance.

They are a circus, if what is being reported is true. If you are a real DolFan you'd be more concerned about what is actually happening in that locker room than what the media in other parts of the country is saying.

Isn't the bigger issue that we drafted a mentally ill player fairly high in a draft? isn't this why they run those battery of tests and interviews? If Martin is ill, then he needs to do what he needs to do to get himself better, even if that means walking away from football.

But this IS a business, and the business side marches on. And the business side has had yet, another failure. At some point, questions need to be answered.

Ya, Marshall football. Gator Hoskins is a beast. Love Tommy Shuler too. Rakeem Cato...slippery son of a gun. We should legitimately be 7-0 right now, if not for the poor coaching and ST's (which Doc Holliday oversees). Doc, one helluva recruiter, and one helluva coach (not in a good way here).

    But I digress. Let's hope it isn't a crap-show tonight.

How were you able to confirm it was Beasley? Pisses me off. He sounded like a total **** (work that rhymes with rock). Darlington gets a ton of insider knowledge from that team before the beat writers do. I know he used to work the beat for the Herald, but they ever ask why? Maybe it was because he didn't ask questions like that.
