    Kick ***!

Cash considerations and two meaningless second round picks in 2009. We had three.

Nice job, Riles & Co. Really, really nice.

    Mario Chalmers is a player.

FYI, quite a few mocks had Chalmers going between 10-15 up until today.

Is Chalmers our point guard? And if so, why should I be happy about him versus passing on Mayo or turning down the Grizzlies' trade offer?

Because Beasley is a beast..and you got a point guard...not a shooting guard. Mayo can't play PG. never has been a PG and taking a player at his best position and changing it is dumb.

Chalmers is gonna be a nice PG for us. beasley is a beast.

I don't even think Beasley/Mayo was a serious debate, and it shouldn't of been.

Beasley + Chalmers > Mayo or Memphis' package (Miller/Lowry/#5 - I need an official link for the other offer)

Also, not that it matters, but Draft Net's final mock had Chalmers at #15:

All the reports were saying that Mayo/Beasley was a serious debate but when they talked to Pat Riley after the selection, he said that they knew right from the beginning they wanted him. The scout/personnel director sat Riley down in a room and made him watch Beasley.

Yup. Basically what comes from this all is that no one ever had a clue what the hell was going on. The media was just as clueless as we were, so they did their best to turn ideas into "source cited" rumors. Media sure did a nice job giving King a headache and a half, though..........

Did you see Riley's other conference call? I didn't see it on ESPN. I left the house between about picks 18 - 25/30 or so. It's on the ESPN home page. Riley looks very excited about Michael Beasley. Looks like that was his guy from the get go.

    Jeez...
quick...offer Chris Quinn for Al Jefferson.

They also reported that at the draft camp..Spoelstra worked him out and fell in love with him. (Chalmers)

Sweet...... But now what do we with Haslem? If we trade him, I hope we trade him to a Championship contender.

If Chalmers is our point guard, then we did pretty well. Now we need to address center.

If he is anything like he was in college...we raped Minnesota.

This kid can flat out shoot and handle. he can also play defense. But his shooting is gonna be huge. he can stroke it.

Alright, let's hope he's our guy going forward, then.

What do we do in free agency, if anything?

To add to that, he has a knack for hitting the big shot.

I definitely like Chalmers as a prospect, and I think he has the ability to start in this league. He's a nice fit next to Dwyane Wade as he has unlimited range in his shot. He's known for hitting the big shot at the end of games, and he's a tough player who doesn't give up. I'll never forget how tough he stuck in there against Derrick Rose who is a far superior talent.

Chalmers will be interesting. This is the perfect system for him and Wade will help him tremendously.

Yeah he's a tremendous defender. I like him a lot. If he fails for you guys, I hope the Heat go after A.J. Price of Connecticut next year. He's a great talent that put up similar statistics to Derrick Rose.

I am not sure about the poor OJ Mayo comment but he is definitely one of the most ready NBA guys. Probably behind Mayo in that category I would say. The Heat are definitely on to good things in the future. Chalmers, Wade, Marion, Beasley and Diop/Zo (?) or draftee. Pretty good lineup.

I'd personally like for us to go small.

    Banks/Chalmers
    Wade
    Marion
    Beasley
    Haslem

    Sounds very intriguing.

I would think you guys address it in FA. If not, then you guys stay with what you got unless you can acquire Brand/Boozer in exchange for Marion. Dorell Wright can start at the 3 can't he?

That works too. I was going to say how the rebounding would go in the opponents favor but Beasley, Marion and Haslem can all rebound well. That may be a better lineup. The only problem I could see in that lineup is when you face a big man, for instance Shaq. Beasley and Haslem couldn't matchup with him.

I still want Diop for a cheap 2-year deal.

    G - Chalmers, Quinn, Banks
    G - Wade, Cook
    F - Marion, Wright, Lasme
    F - Beasley, Haslem, Jackson
C - Diop, Mourning, Blount, Anthony

Blazers stole an even better PG. Nice avy. I'm a big fan of Bayless. He says he can get the job done at the point. Hopefully he proves his critics wrong.

Interesting choice for them. Moute has decent defensive man-to-man skills but has essentially 0 offense outside of putbacks which could be rarer in the pros due to his lack of size. Really thought he needed to stay an extra year because he's as raw as sushi. A reach in my opinion especially when someone like Douglas-Roberts or Ewing Jr. was still around.

I think this puts Haslem or Marion on the trading block, most likely Marion.

    Maybe both?

There have been several teams interested in Marion since Wednesday. I don't know the market for Haslem.

I would trade Marion for Boozer immediately, then put Beasley at the 3 and Boozer at the 4.

Thing is, I still don't know who's going to play center on this team.

Dorell Wright has seen his best moments as a starter at the 3 spot with little to no offensive responsibility.

However..marion is best suited as a 3 in the NBA and I don;t think he would take to a demotion.

My Projected Lineup looks like this:

    Chalmers
    Wade
    Marion
    Beasley
    Blount

    Haslem
    Wright
    Cook
    ZO

Look for Chris Duhon to get a look at PG. (FA)

I personally think Beasley spells the end of Haslem being in a Heat Uni. I think Riles will probably try to get a proven PG for him.

Shoot me. Boik can pull the trigger, even.

I'd rather put Haslem at center than deal with Blount for another year.
