When it comes to the events that movie was based on, I prefer Sam Peckinpah's Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. Though neither was extremely accurate.
For true historical accuracy when it comes to Billy the Kid, the movie generally considered most accurate was Gore Vidal's Billy the Kid, which starred Val Kilmer, as Billy. Though perhaps not the most entertaining.

I love Tombstone. Top movie for me. But it wasn't that accurate. There were 5 Earp brothers in Tombstone (Jim and Warren are the missing two). Morgan arrived later. Virgil was Marshall before they ever left for Tombstone, etc etc. It references real events but that's where the accuracy ends. Doesn't matter, great movie.

The most accurate version of the shootout at OK Corral that I know of.

Without a doubt, the best bar none, of all the Doc Holliday screen depictions and I've lived long enough to have seen them all. My interest, why another Georgia boy, of course.

The scene where Doc killed Johnny Ringo was pure fantasy too. It has never been proven how Ringo died other than a gunshot wound to the right temple. Some historians think it was from a rifle shot fired from some distance. Some say Ringo committed suicide. His revolver was in his right hand when the body was found and had been fired.

Most entertaining depiction, hardly the most historically accurate.

And when has Hollywood ever bothered itself with being accurate, historically or otherwise? As for those who have played Doc can you name any of them that was closer in depicting the spirit of the man? I can't.

Unless one has studied him through historical texts, how would they know the real Doc, his spirit, etc, well enough to make a valid comparison?

Most people don't know the spirit of Wyatt Earp. They think of him as a lawman.

Law was 10% of him. 90% was pimp, brothel owner, gambler, etc. etc.

Jamar Taylor is codeword for discuss Wyatt Earp and Tombstone. :-)

I'm excited to see what Taylor can do. This draft class is already making some big contributions and we haven't even seen what Davis or Taylor can do yet.

I'm pretty dang excited to see these guys play. Hopes aren't too high and I expect some mistakes, but I think these boys are players. As an aside, got to see Haden go against AJ Green today and HE IS GOOD! Haden that is. Wondering if Grimes can be that good.

What was that thread? I missed it.

I remember in my workout obsessed days how I just to drink pasteurised egg whites. Just pour them into a cup and chug down. Used to buy them in litre cartons.

It was a thread that morphed off topic into one about the pros and cons of egg whites vs whole eggs. If you are consuming egg whites it sounds like you could benefit from the info there

You forgot the period at the end of your final sentence. Also, you need a period after vs. since it is an abbreviation. Also also one could make an argument for egg-whites needing to by hyphenated.

    Just razzing ya, Walt. ;)

If we ever needed a boost to the secondary, tonight's the night. Imagine if Taylor turns out to be a beast. Then we'd have one hell of a secondary. Already pretty good without him so far.

It's interesting to think about the talent a second round pick could bring to the field once he is ready. I'm not sure he's ready.

One could say you did not need to repeat the word 'also' to begin that sentence.

Since you are neither a soldier, or an assassin, you may use proper protocol and refer to me as Sir, or Colonel, or Col. Kurtz. After all, you're just an errand boy, sent by grocery clerks, to collect a bill. :shifty:

HA! First one is true. Love the quote, btw.

Are there any more recent movies you think are in the same league as "Apocalyspe Now"? I'm curious.
