That's stupid as hell. Don't get me wrong, Mayo and Bayless are very good talents but are you seriously going to pass up Beasley if he falls in your lap?

EDIT: Had to read it again to see if it was true lol but the link seemed different or I may have gone crazy. If they intend to move down to select Mayo, the farthest they can move down is 3 with Minnesota. Minnesota is reportedly hot for Mayo.

Honestly, I'm leaning towards not watching the draft on Thursday.

I somewhat wouldn't blame you. Your favorite player by far was virtually locked to end up on your favorite team and now he may not be in the running only a couple days before the draft itself.

Andy Katz is "the" guy when it comes to "sources" too. ESPN's only credible regarding the NBA.

I remember the Ray Allen to Boston rumor early on Draft Day that everyone laughed at.

Something's got to give, because a source from every team 3-5 + 7 thinks the pick is being moved.

Yeah but my question is how far do they plan on moving down to select one of the two mentioned? Mayo probably won't get past 3 for two reasons: 1) Minnesota is hot for him. 2) If Minnesota chooses not to take him, Clippers likely have a package to send to Minnesota for that pick.

I heard talk that Bayless could end up in Seattle who have the fourth pick I believe.

If they plan on moving down to select one of these two guys then its not worth the risk. If they want them, take them there. I still think that it would be a terrible decision because of the potential and talent that Beasley possesses.

    Based on rumors? Come on.

Anyone think it's curious how there's been NO word whatsoever on which guy Chicago is going to take, but we're hearing all of these trade rumors about the Heat?

What if we trade down and add another high pick? Marion to Knicks?

If we added a Bayless and took a Mayo at #2.

This is one helluva small lineup in waiting for a brand or Boozer or Bosh.

In 2010, the lineup could look like this:

    Bayless
    Wade
    Mayo
    Brand or Bosh or Boozer
    Haslem

There would be no team in the league that could run with that team. Problem is that to get ot that lineup, you would need two starter quality players at the #3 and #5 to bridge to that lineup.

    ESPN Draft Special:

Miami talking deal with Memphis that would send Udonis Haslem for the #5 pick.
(talks have nothing to do with moving the #2 selection)

    WTF?

If we walk out of that draft with Beasley and Bayless or Lopez, I'm going to faint.

Well, Memphis has been trying to move the pick since the lottery for whatever reason. There were rumors about David Lee being sent from the Knicks for the 5th pick, so I guess Haslem kind of fits in. I do, however, feel as if there would be more added to the deal, i.e. Brian Cardinal who Memphis is trying to get rid of.

The potential of these line-ups are endless:

    G - Jerryd Bayless
    G - Dwyane Wade
    F - Shawn Marion
    F - Michael Beasley
    C - Desagana Diop?

    or

    G - Beno Udrih?
    G - Dwyane Wade
    F - Shawn Marion
    F - Michael Beasley
    C - Brook Lopez

Then, you've got Shawn Marion expiring next summer.

    WOW.

So long, Udonis. Love what you bring to the table on this team, but having two picks in the top five and coming away with Rose/Beasley and Mayo/Bayless is a surefire trip to the top three seeds.

I will be very pissed if we don't keep Michael Beasley, though.

I don't know if you would see Udrih there. I read earlier this off-season that he and the Kings were working out a long-term deal.

The west comes east, definitely. IMO, the ideal 2010 lineup for this team will include Wade, Rose, Boozer or Bosh, and two future draft picks at SF and C.

Can you imagine the future of a team stacked with (hypothetical) Dwyane Wade, Michael Beasley, Jerryd Bayless, and whatever comes of Shawn Marion's huge expiring contract next summer?

    G - Bayless
    G - Wade
    F - Marion
    F - Beasley
    C - Diop/Mourning

Even in 2008-2009 that team gives you a shot at winning the division. You've got your superstar in Wade, an All-Star sidekick in Marion, inside presence (Beasley), outside shooting & an additional slasher (Bayless), and front court toughness defensively (Diop/Zo) all in the starting line-up alone.

Problem is no body wants Okafor. The Bobcats have had no market for him because of his health and because of his contract demands.

I don't know if they would be interested in him still. I would think that they would use Marion as a bargaining chip to get a very good player.

Assuming Seattle takes Bayless at four and Miami takes Beasley at 2, who do they go after? It would be too early to take Augustin wouldn't it?

Russell Westbrook is a guy who is flying up the boards, and I'm sure he'll be a possibility if both Mayo and Bayless are off the board although I'm not sure how much attention we've committed his way. But even with Michael Beasley in play, this team still has two holes: point guard and center. Brook Lopez will be an interesting name if we're picking at #5.

At Center, you guys could go with Zo' or pick up a FA like Diop as you stated earlier. I feel that they may need a true PG on the team.

Pretty much. Okafor messed up big time by turning down Charlotte's $50 million contract extension last year, because he's probably not going to see an offer like that this summer. He'll be an unrestricted free agent next year, and I think Miami should be interested if the center position isn't filled by then. Great rebounder and solid shot blocker who can give you 12-15 points per game. If you have a Dwyane Wade and Michael Beasley in the fold, I think he's a great compliment if all else fails with Brand & Boozer.

I agree. Westbrook vs. Lopez makes for a good argument, though. Then, you've got to figure Kevin Love in the picture somewhere but I'm not sure if he's a center in this league. The issue with D.J. Augustin is his height, and Riley has a history trying to keep away from small point guards, although Tim Hardaway was great under him. It's the exact reason why Miami went with Dorell Wright over Jameer Nelson.

I actually like Russell Westbrook a lot, and I think he's in the same conversation as Bayless.

This was the first season he was healthy for every game. He averaged 14 and 11 which is good. I agree that he messed up huge by turning down that offer because I don't know how much interest he will have when he is a UFA. I think he will signficantly receive less than the offer he got from Charlotte. I think he is worth acquiring but for the right price.

That may not be true. Memphis is trying to get rid of their pick for salary cap reasons I believe. The latest talk was that David Lee of the Knicks would come there in exchange for the fifth pick and Cardinal.

Yeah I would take Lopez there because of the true PG reason. Westbrook doesn't fit that imo. He is a solid defender though and is good from mid-range. I am not sure if he can shoot 20+ feet from the basket.

Augustin is a good scorer. I am not sure how he fits the bill as a dishing PG as I haven't seen too much of him.

In the end, I think that the only questioning that will happen if one of the three are selected is that, was it too early?

EDIT: I agree about Love. I don't know if he will be more than a guy off the bench.

seriously? haslem doesn't even make that much, if that was the case they would just take raef lafrentz he is making double what haslem makes and expires...they obviously don't care about winning for another year..look at this rumored deal on ESPN "The Blazers would send #13 pick and Reaf LeFrentz to Memphis for the #5 pick, Brian Cardinal and Jason Collins."
you saying they would rather just have haslem?

Honestly, I rather take Haslem. Collins is Mr. Foul and LaFrentz is 32 years old. Plus that would still give them a lottery pick.
