    Wow.

There was a mob chanting "as long as they have Brady & Belicek the Pats own the East" a few weeks ago.

They seem to have left the building.

I think they're lurking in the background with the mob that was claiming we'd start the season 0-5, 1-4 or 2-3 at best...

Watching that game has to give us optimism. However, we can't count out the Pats. They did win two division games. This one without any real offensive weapon at all. Once Amendola and Gronk come back, then we can start to see how good this team is really. If they still struggle, then yeah it is the beginning of the end. IF NOT, which I don't think they will when those two are in the lineup, we will have a dog fight on our hands. Which is fine by me, I don't want to win the division by default. I want to win because we are better than the best.

Ya they'll definitely be better...but Amendola is a ambulance driver's best buddy...and Gronk...we'll see...I think they're in for a rough year either way...hard fought, closer games than they're used to. If they keep THIS stuff up...Brady's gonna have an aneurism.

I want to win the division, and I couldn't give a damn less if NE is on their 3rd string QB...every team has to deal with injury issues (see Keller), they're no exception.

Agreed, but what it really should provide is perspective. I see post after post harping on what the Dolphins don't do well with out any perspective on how it compares to the rest of the league. Reality is that every team has weaknesses, things they don't do well. The fact that your team has a weakness doesn't automatically doom you to a long season or mean you can't be a playoff team. If that were really the standard then every team is doomed and out of the playoffs. Reality is that Miami is probably a much better team than the media and many fans here expected. The line against Cleveland was a pick 'em yet we won by almost two touchdowns. All those posts fretting about our potential 0-5 start were obviously much ado about nothing. Of course having perspective doesn't mean you start making SB reservations, but it does mean you recognize that every criticism you can think of doesn't portend impending disaster. I don't see any team out there we don't have at least a decent chance of winning against. I see some that I would favor against us, but not a ton. And I like our chances against any team in the AFC.

Perspective is a good word. Things I noticed last:
    - geno isn't tannehill. Tannehill has had 3 ints. in a game, but never were they on such stupid/ bad throws. I'm already questioning genos arm strength, cause his last two ints. Weren't bad reads, just bad throws.
    - our wrs catch passes, and run crisp routes. Brady would have killed for Charles clay and Brandon Gibson last night. Nvm hartline and Wallace.
    - neither team has anyone close to what Cameron wake gives us.
    - they can't run the ball either!

Geno smith is on pace for 24 ints this season. Ok, that's not a perspective thing, I just like it.

IMO Geno is just a far less accurate QB than RT. I like that he's a Jet b/c accuracy generally doesn't improve that much. I think he extends the Jet's legacy of mediocre teams (at best) for as long as he's there.

I'm still bummed about losing Keller, but we still have at least three WRs who I trust to catch the ball more often than not. If they stay healthy, that's more than enough to keep our offense in the top half of the league. With our D and a top half offense, that's a playoff team. Heck, there have been SB winners with less than that. I'm not predicting a SB or anything. I'm just saying that even with our weaknesses, our strengths are potentially good enough that nothing is off the table.

Agreed about Wake. I said this off-season and I still believe that this defense has '85 Bears type potential.

Our run D was pretty horrid against Cleveland, but seeing how bad it was league-wide in week one, my guess is that part of the problem was the new CBA rules limiting padded practices. I'm still worried about our run game, but I also think we can reasonably expect improvement without having to go to the extremes of adding OL or RBs. How much is obviously the question, but I guess I'm just more willing than some here to wait and gather more info before hitting panic mode.

Just watched the game. Wasted 3hrs of my life watching that garbage. Any Dolphins fan watching either of those teams will and I won't say be over confident but I will say our chances of winning the East have just got more favourable. I'm sure Bills fans will be saying the same. Pats just look like a totally different team. Hell, even Wilfork was getting manhandled. Brady was Brady, alas his WRs were poor and that's being kind. Geno looked poor. Bad throws and some really bad pocket awareness. No running game from either team which I can sort of relate to right now. Hopefully the Colts game will get our running game going. Pats and Jets might be bottom 2 in the East. Bills won't be too worried either.

The Jets and Patriots were both really bad... I honestly think that if we had played either one of those teams yesterday we would have won handily, by more than 2 touchdowns.

I saw a lot of drops that would have made this a blowout. Brady is still on his game. There was a torrential downpour at the beginning of the game, ensuring a slop fest. Ridley couldn't even get going and they were running it well the week before.

Let me see another game or two.

But they are clearly weaker at receiver. And I want to see our run game this weekend.

Ironic that the only AFC East QB to see his team lose was the one with the highest QB Rating after week 1...
    E. Manuel 18/27/ 150/ 2/ 0-- QBR 105.5
    R. Tannehill 24/38/ 272/ 1/ 1-- QBR 82.3
    G. Smith 24/38/ 256/ 1/ 1-- QBR 80.6
    T. Brady 29/52/ 288/ 2/ 1-- QBR 76.4

Proving once again that the stat that matters is in the W-L column!

The Bills may feel a little more confident, but EJ only completed 3 passes over 10 yards in that Bills game. I still expect to sweep both the bills and the stej this season.

That's possible, but I have a feeling the Patriots team we saw in week 2 won't be the same Patriots team we see in week 10 and on. They'll get things figured out offensively as long as Tammy stays on his feet.

You expect the major lack of chemistry with the young receivers...you expect the offense not to click in the heavy rain...what you don't normally expect is how off Brady was, on top of the drops and mis-routes. He was off on a few to several throws there as well in my opinion...on target on a majority yes, but off more than usual. Probably can be at least partially attributed to his frustration with all the failures...loved seeing him throwing fits...he looks like such a baby.

"A team like the colts" really blitz, were talking about a 1 and 12 team two years ago, I think luck has totally flipped that team as well, but fu&$ that, their team is not better than ours in that short of time..

He beats us again, we ain't ever gonna catch up..it will become a GM game in the future.

DJ, not sure what you're upset about. I'm simply saying before us fans can start worrying about dethroning the Patriots we should wait and see if they can handle the teams on our schedule that they should beat.

Exactly. We're dogs on both games so far, and that trend's likely to continue for a while. The "experts" resoundingly pick against us so far as well, so to this point, we're probably not supposed to beat anybody until our 6th game against the Jills. I see 4, maybe 5 games on the schedule that as it stands right now, I'd expect the experts and Vegas to pick us. Is this a 4-12/5-11 team? I highly doubt that's possible (without some major injuries).

We play an NFC South division this year that features two VERY strong teams, an AFC North division that has the defending SB champs and another playoff team, and the 2nd place teams in the other AFC divisions...that's a 2nd place team schedule. I wouldn't say it's overly tough or overly easy...not every playoff team from one year is in the playoffs the next, there's a lot of movement. But since the Dolphins recent record is losing seasons, we're not going to be picked or expected to win a lot of games, by the general public and experts.

So what's our record supposed to be?

I have no idea. I don't know if Miami should beat the Colts or not. But if they are going to win the decision, shouldn't they be able to beat the Colts? I'm not saying the Colts are a bad team, but division winning teams have to beat good teams. All I was saying is before figuring out if this team can dethrone the Patriots, lets see how they handle their business.

That's how I feel as well. Insert almost any other QB for them and I feel better about this game. I'd rather play Brady, Brees or Rodgers even. I think any of the others would struggle more behind their OL. I'm not saying Luck is already better than those others, just that his skill set offsets one of Indy's weaknesses in a way the others couldn't. CKap is about the only other QB I'd be equally concerned about.

NFL is changing when guys who are bona fide run threats are also some of the best QBs in the game. In ten years, I wonder what the QB position looks like.
