That is a ridiculous quote, and I find it rather offensive to me, as I am a fan of Halo. I am hardly a fan of it just because I get to "shoot people." If that were the case, there'd be 50+ other shooters with the following that halo has.

is it even fair to compare the 2 games? I really don't see very much similarities between the two.

1 you watch, and 1 you play

I just picked up a PS3 and MGS4 this week. I am not very far into act 1 and so far I don't know what to think of the game. There are some looonnnggg cut's in this game so far, which is pretty cool, but for some one trying to get use to the controls game play etc... it can be a little frustrating. I do have one question WTF is up with the very 1st 2 "commercials" at the very beginning of the game. The bomb shelter buffet and the ad for I believe it was a game. Do they have any meaning to the game or are they just some sorta thing to make you go WTF? I don't mind a spoiler if they have some sorta importance to the game, it just left me scratching my head.

I think its supposed to show you how the world is a little different at that time. Some of the commercials had to do with automated security robots or taking health "supplements".

It's what Get Up And Go said. It's just a way for you to immerse yourself in that particular world and there's a few inferences to the MGS universe.

I've beaten it on Boss Extreme.

theres big reveals throughout this entire game. the game is kinda easy on that naked normal mode...but to be honest, it seems you watch almost as much as you play this game...but i dont mind like others may, its entertaining and its a good story.

I love Nintendo's in house games but I thought OoT was overrated. I prefer the original, A Link to the Past(best.zelda.ever), or Windwaker even. Just couldn't get into OoT.

So there ya go. Different strokes for different folks. I personally, have loved every MGS game I have ever played and can't wait to get my hands on 4.

That's the point, though. There's a reason the game's tagline is "No place to hide." The entire premise behind the game is having the player improvise stealth in environments not conducive to hiding. This is distinctive from past MGS games where the environment was built for hiding, particularly MGS2 and 3. So, yes, your options are limited. That's by design. And you shouldn't need to use any of them if you're good enough at utilizing OctoCamo and waiting for patrols to pass.

Variety of selection, military accuracy, support of the player's decision to engage in combat if he so chooses, and rewarding competence in Metal Gear Online.

This is how the game should be played, though the demonstration features far too many tranquilizers. On normal difficulty and above, when those soldiers wake up, they sound an alert.

OK I am hooked. I started out on the easy and got up to act 4 and decided to start over on the next difficulty lvl. I remeber playing the very 1st MG, forget what system it was on, and a lot of how to play MG is coming back to me. This is a lot of fun.

If you played Portable Ops, it's probably not as big a reveal if you think about it.

I suggest exploring the hell out of that area, there's quite a few "audio flashbacks" that are really cool.

I never played Portable Ops, I guess the bigger reveal in that chapter would be that

Big Boss was still alive, kind of.

Act IV was awesome, I'm suprised that there wasnt alot of Gray Fox flashbacks, especially towards the end. Although there's about 3 audio flashbacks that deal with him.
Piloting Metal Gear Rex was cool thoough.

Right now i'm in Act V and I just beat Screaming Mantis, the whole sequence is an ode to the Pyscho Mantis fight, it was still pretty cool, and the last cutscene was entertaining("Whaaaaaat? No Vibration?" lol).

Kinda messed up on the spoiler tag there.

Unfortunately, I happened to come across a spoiler of
    Big Boss being alive
so it wasn't as surprising for me.

    my biggest problem.
and i shouldve seen this coming...i beat the game at like 1Am Sunday night, and then there was like 2 friggin hours of cut scenes! and it was way redundat. big boss would make a point, and then verbalize that same damn point 8 different ways, and he went on to do that like 7 times! and with otacons wimpering..i was praying for him to die, and was glad naomi bit it. but it was honestly a great game, and cool story.

Honestly, I didn't think Otacon's wimpering was as bad as Akiba.

html tags, like any type of coding, simple or complex, can be very unforgiving for minor mistakes.

I finished the game, Its definately one of the best ever IMO.

The one thing that I didnt like too much about the story was Big Boss' return but they could have done better without his inclusion.
On the other hand you could say that the series started with Big Boss and that it is appropriate that it ends with Big Boss.
Still It was an a amazing game.

Indeed. Only things lacking are the original main theme by Tappy and that whole Akiba-Meryl storyline.
Makes me sad it's all over for Solid Snake.
But, if Kojima's successors ever decide to make more games with Naked Snake (i.e. Portable Ops) or any of Solid's earlier adventures (i.e. make the AC!D series into real MGS games), or heck, revamp MG1/2, MGS1,2,3 into PS3 specs, I'd be more than happy to buy em.

Just finnished it yesterday, pretty awesome game:up: One question for you guys. When I finnished I thought that if you started a new game you would have your DP and your stuff you had gotten from the previous game the dolls suit camo etc.... But that does not seem to be the case. Do you get some of the stuff the father along you go?

Yes, you get your stuff back when you meet up the Mk.II at the middle of act 1.

Though, you had to load your previously finished game save and then started a new game in order to get your stuff back.
