**** the lite mayo. Make your own full-strength stuff and don't have as much if you want to watch calories. The s**t in the lite stuff is probably (actually, it's definitely) worse for you than full-fat mayo.

For special occasions by all means make a homemade lemon/dill/habanero/ mayo.... For some smoked fish on a football platter lite Hellmans will do.

You forgot the garlic. Never forget the garlic mayo! Full-fat garlic mayo mixed with half-fat creme fraiche is one of my dips of choice.

Anyway, game tonight...not sure how long I'm going to watch. It's now 10pm here on a Thursday night so, as much as I love the Dolphins, I don't know how long I can stay awake watching the 3rd string against the 3rd string Saints. I may just watch tomorrow.

Ok...odd ball question. How long would you be willing to go and not get any some some if it would guarantee a Phins World Championship?

    I said 2 years with a straight face..lol.

I just want to say, you guys are grossing me out. Mayonnaise is the worst (-tasting, and not just that but the worst...) substance on the planet Earth.

TRUE FACT (of which all my kids are now well aware): Evil aliens put it here. And they're in charge of all the mayonnaise-making factories out there (yeah, that's right... there's a reason it's called HELLmans). One of these days the evil aliens are going to flip the switch, and all of you mayonnaise-eaters that have been duped by the horrific substance thinking it tastes alright with tuna or chicken-frickin'-salad or banana sandwiches are going to be walking zombies being led around by magnetic voices in charge of wiping out the last of us free folk that didn't fall prey to the white blob of crappolicious. After that, the terra-forming begins. END OF TRUE FACT

I'd rather have the awful, rank wretchedness of sewage that is Chef Boyardee Spaghettios poured down my throat than to eat one bite of one of the DEVIL's eggs, where they mix (HELLmans) mayonnaise crap with egg yolks (what could possibly be worse?) and stuff it into a half of cooled, boiled egg white. Just awful.

Thought I'd get that out there to help try to save the few of us that are left unsullied.

Oh, and go Dolphins tonight!

Least week I mixed some Soy-Free (agree with Walter) Veganaise with lemon juice, Herbamare herb seasoning salt and strong horseradish to approximate a homemade tartar sauce without all the crap or dairy in it. Nice with fish.

Glad that we're not risking any of our main starters. I'll definitely just watch this tomorrow to see how the backups do, there's plenty of interest though in how the likes of Vaugh Martin (his roster spot is on the line IMO if he doesn't impress), Taylor, McCray, Tyms, Thomas, Egnew & Gillislee play.

    Hellman's ingredients.
SOYBEAN OIL, WATER, WHOLE EGGS AND EGG YOLKS, VINEGAR, SALT, SUGAR, LEMON JUICE, CALCIUM DISODIUM EDTA (USED TO PROTECT QUALITY), NATURAL FLAVORS. GLUTEN-FREE.

    Hellman's lite:
WATER, SOYBEAN OIL, MODIFIED STARCH (CORN, POTATO)**, EGGS, SUGAR, SALT, VINEGAR, LEMON JUICE, SORBIC ACID** AND CALCIUM DISODIUM EDTA (USED TO PROTECT QUALITY), NATURAL FLAVOR, VITAMIN E. **INGREDIENTS NOT FOUND IN REGULAR MAYONNAISE. GLUTEN-FREE.

First, soybeans in this country are 90% GMO. Unless the mayo is certified organic, you are getting GMO soybeans. Hellman's is not organic.
In the lite you have modified corn starch. In this country most corn is also GMO. So a double whammy.
The lite also has Sorbic Acid, which is questionable as an ingredient:

Sorbic acid and potassium sorbate are safe, versatile and efficient, according to Food-Info. The CSPI classifies sorbic acid as "safe" for use as a food additive. Not everyone agrees that sorbic acid belongs in food, however. Whole Foods Market, for instance, includes sorbic acid and potassium sorbate, as well as another sorbic acid salt, calcium sorbate, on a list of ingredients the company finds unacceptable in food products.

As someone who has studied nutrition, you should be more cognizant of the ingredients in the processed foods you eat.

You want healthier mayo? Consider these options:
    http://www.vitacost.com/Hain-Pure-Foods-Safflower-Mayonnaise

    http://www.vitacost.com/spectrum-organic-omega-3-mayonnaise-with-flax-oil-gluten-free-16-oz

Is Safflower ever GMO you may ask? According to the GMO database: The commercial utilisation of genetically modified safflower cannot be anticipated in the short term.

Safflower is a minor crop today, with about 600,000 tons being produced commercially in more than sixty countries worldwide.

I guess it is possible to get GMO safflower, but the odds are significantly less than with non organic soy.

Almost forgot: Calcium disodium EDTA, This is another questionable ingredient in your cheap Hellman's, not present in the two mayos I linked for you.

Anti-Mayo... You sure you're from Alabama? That's like the state condiment. They're likely to revoke your right to root for that "other" team. :shifty:

They call this stuff "salad dressing", it looks a lot like Mayo, in fact I cannot tell the damn difference in the two, but Duke's is the local condiment, not Hellmans..that is yankee foolishness right there

Great information here Mr. C. I order quite a bit from Vitacost and find them to be one of the better internet sites for foods and supplements.I've been meaning to read up on the dangers of GMO and the effects they might have on our health.

Any thoughts you might like to share would be greatly appreciated.

Will watch Taylor, Egnew, Matthews, Jerry closely.

Sims deserves 'start' over Egnew... but I don't think they are startting just the 'best' #2's. I think they are specifically starting guys who:
    a) need more practice reps
    b) the position coaches need to see more of to make a determination on

Sims has solidly made the squad as a rotational #1 imo.

Our broadcast team outside of maybe Agler are awful. Down to the sound and video techs. How do FOX NFC broadcasts have slow motion replays in the preseason, yet we can't even get audio working without some odd reverb.

I try to avoid GMO whenever possible. Glad to hear you are studying the ingredients on your food. It doesn't take a degree in nutrition. Just a little research, and asking yourself what is this ingredient who's name I do not understand?
Some people will argue with you that GMO is totally safe. I know of no studies done by scientists without ties to the biotech industry, or more specifically the most evil entity of them all, Monsanto. that says they are as safe as the original, natural or organic food that they bastardized. I hesitate to use the word 'natural' though, because it is a very abused word in the world of prepared foods. Very broad parameters on what can be labeled as natural. Your best food bets, grow your own, buy local, or buy certified organic. Avoid processed foods when possible and by all means avoid soft drinks or soda pop.
Think about this, IF GMO foods were as safe as the original why does companies like Monsanto spend so much $$ trying to defeat GMO labeling laws? What do they have to hide? Is it too much to ask for the average consumer to know which foods they buy contain GMO? This is the guinea pig generation when it comes to GMO.
