I also think Revis may not be what he used to be. But, I think you are right in that there may not be any real "shut-down" CBs in the league right now. Revis (like Deion) basically took away 1/4 or 1/3 of the field in the passing game.

Sherman has potential but hasn't proven to be a complete shut-down player. But, as you note, Revis has consistently been there. Sherman has to prove it a couple more years. He reminds me of Mel Blount more than any CB since, well, Mel Blount. His strength, size and physicality make it very tough to get by him. He doesn't have the speed of Revis (Revis had both speed and physical strength to combat WRs).

I am hoping that Jamar Taylor will get there in technique, instincts, physicality, and speed (he's pretty fast).

I'd like to see us sign Grimes to a longer term deal ... But he too, though very good, is not a shut-down player. Just does not have the physical strength to be that kind of player.

I hope Jordan is a top 5 at his position some day - but, he could also be a bit of a bust. Will be interesting to see him at full health. Really think he'll be a significantly different and better player next year.

I can agree with you there but I wonder if Ronnie Brown and Reggie Bush actually made the oline look better and these backs are just barely getting the job done ?

if Ricky was in the line up and was young enough then our oline might look better then it is. just a thought.

I thought the OL we had in 09 was pretty damn good. Elite even.

Then too, look at their WRs. Low round picks or UDFAs. This year they took Kenny Stills and Nick Toon in the 4th or 5th and both are playing lights out so far.

He is also good at moving around, buying time, extending the play. Everyone talks about Big Ben doing that so well, but Brees is as good or better at it.

how would you rate the latest draft class so far....all in all i think you gotta be disappointed a little, Jordan and Taylor haven´t seen the field really and both are hurt right now, taylor tweaked his groin again today, but came back in after a few plays, but will he practice tomorrow ?, davis having good and bad moments and the rest...well see how that unfolds

It was very very good, and that was with bum *** Chad Henne behind it. Rafael is reaching big time, the struggles in building the OL are due to bad player evaluations, period.

Jake Long always had bad feet and hips in pass protection. Agree.

Disappointed in that they got injured, but not disappointed in drafting them at all. And all rookies have up and down seasons. Despite what happens this season, I still think 2014 is going to be our season to shine.

I agree. My least favorite player drafted at the time, based on where he was drafted and who else was available though, was Dallas Thomas.

I sure wish we had any two of those 3 right now. At least with Satele we were able to trade him, and the part of it that was trading draft slots in the 4th of 2009 allowed us to take Hartline.
