"ever notice that we only bomb countries with brown people in them. you have to go back quite aways to find somebody we bombed with white people. of sure, we bombed the germans, but that was because they were butting in. THATS OUR *******JOB!"

i loved that routine. especially when he said all wars are based on the "bigger d*ck theory" all bullets and missles were shaped like a pen*s and the object was to launch as many of em into other countries as possible.

as much as his fans loved him, and he was loved by many, he was very much a thorn in the side of mainstream conservative America. you will see accalaids from the entertainment industry, but don't hold your breath waiting on the NEWS world...unless some controversy arrives concerning his life or death of course.

One of my favorite bits of all time is George's idea on how to balance the budget. If you haven't heard it, go find it. It is probably 20-30 minutes long and actually makes so much sense, it is scary. It makes you think, "yeah, why DON'T we do that?"

The synopsis is that we should move all the residents out of fou neighboring states and put our prisoners in there. Murderers in on state, drug dealers in another, rapists and molesters in anaother and crazy persons in the last.

Then, once a month, you open a door between the prison states so that they can intermingle and cross breed. So we would have drugged out murderers and paranoid rapists, just like now.

But we put it on pay per view and balance the stupid ****ing budget.

I am off to go watch it again.

    Carlin is a GENIUS.

Thanks to him, I'm an athiest. I don't believe in the "invisible little man in the sky" cause of him. He made such a compelling and funny argument.

I never got the sense that Carlin was a target of the goodie goodie types.

BTW..best Carlin show: The one he did in NYC right after 9/11. That show showed his genius and his talent. he attempted to do a "softer" and he absolutely killed that night.

...yea, the Vatican is getting ready to Canonize George for his outstanding work promoting their ideals and faith. right after that, the FCC is going to award him for his outstanding work and life's achievements and celebrate his body of works....

    :tongue2:

he always pushed the boundaries of sense and the senseless, pointing out how ridiculous we often were in our conservative manners. always questioning religion and it's moral boundaries. as i said earlier, many love the man and his work. the entertainment industry will do something/s to honor this great entertainer. i'm not holding my breath waiting for the NEWS media and mainstream, conservative America to celebrate his life.

I first listened to George Carlin when I was 7 years old. He is a personal hero of mine. Such a sad sad day.

I sat front and center at the "You Are All Diseased" show back in 1998. I remember thinking it was such a shame how old he looked sitting so close. I felt we were going to lose him sooner. Luckily we got 10 more great years of comedy.

I think he is proof that comedians can often be the most insightful critics of our language culture, and beliefs. Yet he never lost sight of his role as a comedian. So many comedians get themselves bogged down in their own politics, and forget how to tell jokes. See Bill Maher and Dennis Miller, they make you think, but rarely laugh. And there are many comedians just as funny as George, but they rarely made you think. George did both so effortlessly.

Personally, George Carlin let me know as a teenager that I wasn't alone in questioning beliefs held by what seemed like everyone else in the world but me and George. "People are ****ing stupid." And for that I thank him from the bottom of my heart.

    I agree, that was hilarous!

Thanks for the video bro, that was ****ing hilarious.

One thing that I noticed from all these videos is that as he got older, he got funnier. The guy is hilarious as hell and I wasn't familiar with him until Calphin posted the thread last night. (Thank you for that Calphin). I watched every video that was posted in this thread and don't regret one minute of it. I laughed my *** off for the first time in a while. Btw, the video Sam chose to post the video at a bad time for me because I was eating when he started talking about Racoons *******s on sticks and obese ladies trying to wipe their asses, had to put the food away but it was funny as hell.

Thanks to all for the videos and comments.

    RIP

Me thinks you should maybe dub the trophy of your funny tourney as the George Carlin Cup or something like that.

Sad to see him go. Loved his bits on names and the use of language.

I used to look to him for political guidance, but grew out of it.

George Carlin wins "The George Carlin Cup?"

I think I'll just do what I was already toying with and disqualify anyone who votes against George. Should you be allowed to vote if you don't know the first thing about comedy? The first thing I learned about comedy was that George Carlin is the funniest mother****er on the planet.

Well, if you are gonna fix the thing, then why even go through the motions of having a tourney? Just end it now and claim Carlin the winner. i am ok with that.

And if he wins his own cup/championship so be it. But it is your tourney so whatever you choose to do is cool.

I'm not gonna really fix it. But I do question everyone's sense of humor if they voted for Denis Leary or Lewis Black over the Carlin.

I don't want to influence the final decision by naming it after anyone in the Tourney.

I think we should remove the TOS for today and let the words ****, piss, ****, ****, ****sucker, mother ****er, ****, fart, turd, and twat appear as they should in honor of him.

Or should I go ahead and edit this post?

That anger and bitterness was what made him difficult to watch for me ... particularly in his later work.

He definately got darker as the years passed, but our country has fallen further and further into disrepair and he kept shoving that right in our faces. RIP again you crotchety old bugger.

I get what you are saying. It was dark humor, shocking, but he worded it like a craftsman.

    "I'm not a cynic, I'm a disappointed idealist"

I think that quote explains a lot. I think he was very bitter, but I don't think he was ever an angry performer. But I think he turned the bitterness into something fascinating to watch, and usually very funny.

My wife heard of his passing on the news this morning befor i did and she dreaded telling me because she knew I absolutely loved this man. This news saddens me to no end. I actually had the honor to meet him a few years ago at the Suny-Purchase college center for performing arts. I was working in the building at the time and he was preparing for a show later that evening. It was a moment I`ll never forget. Not only was George Carlin funny but he was extremely intelligent also. It seemed nothing really got by him in the world and he always seemed to fit it into his routine. Brilliant individual.

    R.I.P. George,you`re missed already!
