Interesting that they say McNutt is the biggest threat to Matthews for the #5 receiver spot, does that mean they have Binns penciled in at #4?
I'm pretty sure Omar does. I try and judge it by the way the coaches are playing him and I think Omar could be right about that one. It's significant that the coaches used him right away when they grabbed him last year. I think McNutt is fighting to be a 6th. I thought Chad Bumphis would make a run at that job. Guess not.
As it pertains to Grimes, I remember two years ago watching a steeler game I forget who the color analyst was, but after Wallace was putting on a show, he said" Mike Wallace right now is the most dangerous wide receiver in the league"..Him saying that about grimes is high praise.. We just may of lured the two best free agents on the market to come to Miami and play ball.
I think McNutt and Matthews are fighting for that 5th spot. I don't know if they'll carry 6 wide receivers however with them running more 3 wide singleback sets, maybe they will.
It says a lot, compared to last year, when I wouldn't want to lose either of those players from the roster. I don't think Matthews would be eligible for the practice squad, but would McNutt, assuming he cleared waivers? It might come down to who contributes more on special teams.
The Mike Pouncey/Josh Samuda thing is a bit strange. I think I could see Mike Pouncey moving to Guard in a more man-oriented blocking scheme, he'd be one of the better pulling guards in the league, but that isn't really Miami.
Who has the 4th spot, IYO? I think Matthews has 4 locked up, and McNutt is fighting with Binns for the 5 spot and i also think its still McNutt vs. Binns for the 5th spot even if we keep 6, because I think they are virtually the same player.
Agree 100%, if they are equal as WR's who ever is a better special teams player will get the nod (IMO).
I think the assumption is that Binn's has the 4th spot locked up. REally have not heard much about Matthews so far… unless I am missing something?
Honestly Fin D I think Binns a the 4 spot, there's a lot more praise being sang about Binns right now, he's probably our biggest body for the red zone amongst the wideouts too.
Took reps away from Marshall today..he did flash last year pretty hard in his limited action, I think Mr C will confirm that. They were real good flashes.
John Renshaw @johnrenshaw560 22 Jul Richard Matthews. Haven't talked to one dolphin fan or writer-expert yet that isn't high on Rishard Matthews Adam Beasley @AdamHBeasley 24 Jul Rishard Matthews just roasted Reshad Jones on a filthy double move in 1-on-1s He has been getting his share of love.
Webb started his rookie season and crushed it...pro bowl, rookie of the year, etc. Marino had 15 sacks, Secules had 1.
Even if we keep 6 receivers, usually only 4 are active on game day...everyone's expecting Rishard to somewhat breakout, but if he's the 5th WR on the depth chart then he probably won't even see the field unless there's an injury. This is what happens when you give a guy like Gibson the contract he got after spending 18 mil/yr on Wallace/Hartline, Gibson is basically a black Hartline, which we really didn't need, he'll take snaps away from guys that have the size (Binns, McNutt) or physicality (Matthews) that the offense needs.
Fun OT: Keith Sims told a group of us a few years ago that to this day, anytime they are around one another.....Richmond Webb always stands to Sims' left. It's like second nature to them. - sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 beta -
Ryan Tannehill.. Really guys, fu@& Omar Kelly, don't let him paint the narrative for you.. Why would you trust anyone who thought wake should go back to Canada, or nanee was awesome. Just unfollow him or don't click on his link..
Mike Wallace.. "Brent grimes is a great football player. We're the same, were both humble on the field. They brought me here to open up the offense, even if I'm not catching balls,I'm gonna open things up underneath. It's exciting that their gonna move me around. We're still in our base offense.
Davis is still green as grass. Taylor is setback by injuries. Patterson is a proven solid slot corner. Right now I think our most effective backfield would have DP as the 3rd corner with Grimes and Marshall. If we can bring the 2 rookies along slowly and do not need to count on them early on, IMO that best benefits the defense. I'm not a fan of force feeding rookie corners in most cases.
Philbin says that they were looking to expand the role of the fullback, to do more than lead the way and catch a pass in the flat.. Message sent Loud and clear..
