Basically under the new CBA the start of the 2014 season (next year obviously) the cap for all teams is 189M, any money over that is subjected to a 50% or a 75% (I forget) luxary tax hit..... Hal Steinbrenner has been saying all along he wants to get under that cap....so they have been for a few years now doing some moves that are getting them there.....ie they haven't signed a big contract free agent wise since CC and AJ...by big FA contract I mean years and cash.....thats the reason why they front loaded Wells this year and only owe him 2M next, and the samething with Soriano should they take him on..... Coming off the books after this year potentially.... Rivera-10M Granderson-13M AJ Burnett-8.5M Jeter gets reduced from 17 to 8 so 9M Cano 15M Kuroda-15M Andy-12M Youk-12M Hughes-7M Hafner-2M Joba-2M Boesch-1.5M LO-1.25M And a few other smaller contracts....that equals....108.05 there roster is 228M, so at the start of next year they are roughly sitting at 120M with ALOT of holes....hahaha and a 2nd basemen who wants 20+ a year...
https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tpQLwiiQL4kzEzLhsUqVjLQ&output=html One of the better baseball sites breaks it down. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/league-info/major-league-baseball/
I like Cots as well.... Wow 84 Life? wait they saying they are to pay out 84M total as of right now? How is Jeter only;y getting 3M next year? Cots has him at 8M also Wells is only owed 2M next year...I think those numbers are off a little... ok maybe I was off on 2M this year, but I remember reading that they were paying him less than 5M next year...I mean he is getting the full 21M but some of it isnt counted towards the Yankees cap as LAA is paying it...
have you watched your team the last few decades. You always fade. Barring the occasional El Nino effect. You got your two rings now 80 more years ofb futility. It is your fate, your destiny. We on the other hand will probably improve somewhat offensively. Is it enough to beat the orioles and rays. Probably not. But the red sox. No problem
The spread sheet lists the buy out not the full option... Scroll down to the bottom to see what other teams owe towards a player or what the Yankees are responsible for towards a player not on the team.
You do realize you are stuck on the past right? Current players dont give a flying **** about previous decades teams they are playing the team on the field.
How is what happened in say 1990 or 1998 or even 2011 with the Red Sox have any barring on what will happen in 2013? Come on you're better than that and can't possibly be serious.
Oh come on you're soooo wrong. Don't you know that the reason why the Cubs can't win is because of a goat in the 1920s? Obviously it's the reason why Alex Gonzalez couldn't field a routine ground ball in 2003.
Hope A-Rod and the commissioner strike out a deal. I want to see him make that extra 86 million left on his deal.
I'll say this. I think Selig does ban A-Rod forever. I get the feeling he's really sick of Alex Rodriguez and might try to get rid of him once and for all. If he really does have the evidence to do it, that is.
But what's the grounds that he gets a life time ban? I mean he took PEDs, lied about it and tried to cover it up doesn't seem like enough to get that. Of course it's Jim Axelrod reporting this so it must be true because he's broken so many other MLB news stories before right?
fap fap fap fap fap fap fap fap good luck without union support, ballsy move either going to get his life ban or his whole contract.
And then tried to obstruct an active investigation that MLB was trying to conduct. Like what do you have to do to get banned? Remember when he supposedly had an associate trying to buy all the documents from Bio before MLB reviewed them? That seems worse and I bet that gets him in more trouble than anything if they have sound evidence of that. Alexrod is just reporting what's been out there for the day now. It is just the mainstream news is starting to pick it up now cuz it is Arod. I will say this I don't know what evidence they have but judging on Braun's actions coupled with the reaction today of said suspension, it seems clear that MLB is sick of it, the Owners are sick of this, the Union is sick of it and the players are as well.
Yup much bigger deal then the Bartman foul ball. People also forget there was a Game 7 too that the Cubs lost (much like the Red Sox in 86).
They were winning that game too, right? If I'm not mistaken wood even got a hr. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah, my buddy is good friends with Nathan and he hates the Yankees because of it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Cubs don't hold a candle to the Red Sox though. The way the Soxd lost in the 70s through 2000s was epic, legendary, mind boggling. Bill buckner makes that play 99 out of a hundred times. Just so happens the one is in a world series. Opposing shortstops become home run legends. I mean it was the stuff of legend. The cubs just not the same. BasebaLl needs the sox to return to their old ways for the good of the game
Was just listening to EEI and Murti was on and saying he was walking through the hallway with Mo, and they came across the a picture of the 2011 MVP's both Braun and Verlander....and he said "That shouldn't be up there anymore" And then this morning it is gone.... Two things.... A) Tells you how the players are thinking (Kemp come out and said he should lose it as well) B) Mo is God and his words are edict......to the point where Nolan freaking Ryan obeys....
Ha! no wonder why Kemp said he should lose it, he finished 2nd.....should have won it too when you look at the numbers...
Isnt it great, I still have no clue how this guy ever gets in a batters box again, fit or unfit.....it is too deep at this point.... Soooooo now A-Rod hires a doctor to say "he isnt injured" however it was A-Rod who originally went to the team and requested the MRI....this paid doctor is the same one who "cleared" A-Rod causing Cashman to tell him to shut the eff up, turns up in the news for a not so good thing, maybe Cashman was right all along telling him to shut up... and now even his own teamates are saying enough is enough.... http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...m-tired-drama-article-1.1408431#ixzz2a3qnn700 so guys who do you think the player is? I am stumped I am thinking either Gardy or Wells?
Arod kind of makes Manny Ramirez look like a model teammate in comparison. Yeah enough is enough though. I can't imagine the Yankees ever releasing the guy but maybe they just should.
Speaking of which, Girardi is pissed about this whole thing you can tell.... Waldman was saying on the radio last night that it is pretty tense and bad in the clubhouse right now, obviously with all the injuries they are bringing all these new players in and the the first thing they are asked is about A-Rod..... She was saying Lillibridge was asked about it the first day he came in the clubhouse and he was like "uhh I have never met him"....Surprised that Jeter hasn't said anything yet, or they haven't approached him about it...
Jeter won't ever say anything to the media on the record about anything that is controversal, that's just not his style.
