Duncan was probably out playing dungeons or dragons or racing his Nissan Skyline (I believe he owns one). That dude is a major nerd - look no further than the designs on his knee braces.

Seems like Greg Oden is nearing a decision. Heat seem to be consistently placed at the top of the list of contenders for him.

New Orleans is trying to pitch him on the basis of him being able to play far out of the spotlight so that he can come back as slowly as he needs. If that's what he wants, I think it would be hard to argue the Heat don't also offer that with an added bonus of potentially winning a championship while you take it easy. In Miami, Greg Oden is an afterthought. The spotlight is purely on Lebron, Wade and Bosh.

I think it is a bit easier than that. First team to offer a guaranteed year, he's gone.

I wonder if the Heat are willing to cave on their contract guidelines.

How sad is it when your organization's sales pitch is, "dude, if you come here no one will give a damn about you."

Nope. Bosh and the Bench beat the Spurs in San Antonio when Wade, LeBron and Chalmers sat.

Im not prepared to be 2nd fiddle to anyone in the Atlantic lol. I think your team has a better chance of ending up on crutches then in 1st place. I wouldnt be shocked if Toronto took 2nd from you. A full season of Rudy Gay and Jonas Valanciunus with Lowry and who knows. Young athletic talent just might be better then crippled old men, Iso Joe, Creaky Brook Lopez and Deron Williams. Pierce, AK47 still arent guarding Carmelo so enjoy more 40 point outings from him. Thats whats in your future. I just actually rewatched this: http://youtu.be/bjSn2jHJ70U

I think the Nets are going to have SERIOUS problems keeping up the pace of teams who like to play small. They weren't a very fast team to begin with and have only gotten slower. They are going to get absolutely killed in transition IMO.

Not to mention I'm pretty sure defensively you guys will actually be worse as you basically have no-one that can guard the opponents best player, nor do you have a player the other team can't guard. I actually think the Nets regressed by making that trade.

Bold prediction but I think you guys grab the 5th seed behind:

    Miami
    Indiana
    Chicago
    New York

There are other teams that could probably finish ahead as well but they are far less likely. In the West I'd say you'd probably be the 7th/8th seed.

Don't you think if Pierce/KG were good enough to put a team over the top Boston would have kept them paired with Rondo for another run at a title?

So, Ian Clark is summer league championship MVP.

Wonder which team gets to bring him to camp. Probably not the Heat. Too bad.

Camby should fit Juwan Howard's role on the roster nicely.

But seriously. Why are we signing a 39 year old?

I'm still a little intrigued with Cedric Jackson. I know he didn't do as well as he could have shooting but that dude was an assist machine and it was no coincidence he was so heavily into the plus column for the minutes he was in the games. Offense just seemed to run so much more smoothly and naturally while he was in at point guard.

He'll probably get a chance somewhere.

I can tell you that Spo hates every single one of the point guards we had at SL.

I know the Heat is hot for Ian Clark. They are practically begging to get him to camp. Now, will they step up and offer a one year guarantee contract (very rare)? I doubt anybody does, but stranger things have happened.

Probably in the vast minority here with mostly Heat fans, but go MAVS!! We're probably going to miss the playoffs again this year though.....

The threat of injury is obvbiously high with this team but they will all get less minutes than last year. You won't see pierce playing 40 minutes like he did in boston. We shall see. Injuries are your only hope. If the nets are healthy and rested entering the playoffs we will annhilate you

    Two interesting nuggets today:

Per Tim Reynolds, Spo and Greg Oden met today.

Per Aldridge and Mark Stein, Spurs will rescind qualifying offer to Gary Neal, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Let's split the MMLE between Oden and Neal and call it an off season
