Tweets from day 3 so far Omar - Dolphins DT Tracy Robertson, who is 6-4, 300 pounds, is being used as a backup DE on the 2nd team line. Likely until Dion Jordan is cleared. - Rookie Keelan Johnson is a free safety on the JV defense and fellow rookies Jordan Kovacs and Don Jones are the strong safety. - Jimmy Wilson is indeed the free safety and Kelcie McCray is the strong safety. However, Dolphins WANT interchangeable safeties. (think Kelly is talking 2nd team here) - Dolphins rookie CB Jamar Taylor, who has been nursing a groin injury since OTAs, is sidelined during practice 3. Possible setback. James Walker - #Dolphins rookie CB Jamar Taylor is still in shorts, which means he's not full go. He couldn't finish practice on Monday.
Omar Kelly @OmarKelly1m Dion Jordan has pads and a helmet on. He's doing pre-practice work. I'm thinking he's working today. Good news hopefully.
I was just about to post this. Quick turn around if its true. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP1m Tannehill hits a wide open Mike Wallace for what would have been a TD in real life. Should quiet the doubters for a moment at least.
I'm not saying this for my own ego, but wouldn't it be cool if his chant would be D...J...D...J!!!!! In the stadium.
Jesse Agler @finsjesse 1m If Dion Jordan practices today, it means he's no longer on the NFI list. He has a helmet and pants on, so today could be his debut
Of course Omar Kelly accentuates the negatives of the Tannehill to Wallace pass... Omar Kelly @OmarKelly3m Mike Wallace is WIDE open for a 30-yard reception from Ryan Tannehill. Someone blew a coverage.
Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP 17s Keller, Clay, Egnew... Tight ends are definitely active and being targeted in today's practice. Adam Beasley @AdamHBeasley 13s Carpenter nails a 49-yarder on his first attempt of the day.
OmarKelly Dustin Keller and Michael Egnew are the two tight ends playing together. Egnew just caught a pass from Tannehill during 11-on-11s. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Omar Kelly @OmarKelly1m Dustin Keller and Michael Egnew are the two tight ends playing together. Egnew just caught a pass from Tannehill during 11-on-11s. Egnew seems to have worked his way out of the day 1 doghouse for now, that's yesterday and today that's he been 1st or 2nd team.
@JamesWalkerESPN #Dolphins K Dan Carpenter maintains his hot streak in training camp. He nails two FGs in a row, including one from 52 yards. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Carpenter's 2-for-2, one from 52 yards, so hasn't missed yet in camp. He's certainly not going to give Sturgis an easy passage to the kicker job on the team.
Barry Jackson @flasportsbuzz 32s Jamar taylor is injured and working on side. Carpentet continues strong camp with 49 yd field goal Carpenter*
The difference is that, when we get a busted coverage in a real game, someone like Wallace will go the distance if Tannehill hits him. Last year, Tannehill was either over/under throwing or the WR was falling over/getting caught. Doesn't matter if the coverage is busted, what matters is Tannehill & Wallace being on the same page.
Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero2m Dolphins are out on the field and as I head up to the stands there is a definite smell of weed in the air. #drugtestthecrowd
Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP 25s Tannehill all over Wallace early here in practice although Wallace did drop an easy one with Grimes on him.
Well ****, between that and Omar Kelly's astute observation of that blown coverage I think this team is ****ed. / LB's finest.
I do like hearing about interceptions. I think the coaches tally those up and they actually mean something in the final evaluation.
Camp always makes for a sort of emotional conflict if you are a fan. You want both the offense and the defense to do well but when one side of the ball makes a play then it's a negative for the other side. I guess you just want a spirited practice with both sides making some high quality plays throughout.
Don't kid yourself. Pretty much three-quarters of the detail we hear is the positive angle, so everyone naturally has more reason to be excited about camp developments than not. The reporters don't necessarily report in a balanced manner. There's a 15 yard or 30 yard catch and we'll know who threw the ball and who caught it, but we won't necessarily know who blew the coverage or why.
Whos kidding who ? Haven't you been listening to the beat writers ? Kind of hard to miss the details in 1on1s, 7 on 7s, etc.
Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP 2m Tannehill goes deep for Wallace, broken up by Posey, crowd ooohs #dolphins Pete Prisco @PriscoCBS 10m Getting high at Dolphins camp with the weed smell coming from the crowd. Really Who is Posey?
Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP 1m Charles Clay big catch gets past Philip Wheeler Barry Jackson @flasportsbuzz 22s Tannehill throws brilliant pass to clay then throws pick six to clemons on next play Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP 39s Olivier Vernon rolling with the first team. Jared Odrick at tackle. Randy Starks odd man out at moment.
