He is having a phenomenal year. But his BABIP is low, suggesting he has probably been the beneficiary of a little luck.
I have to be honest. I really would. I'm not really envious of the Yankees. St. Louis? Yes. I'm just teasing Adam, though. We do this every now and then.
Eh if you had a something more than plant life owning and running them I would agree. The financial flexibility the Marlins have makes me jealous I agree.
Or he could be putting balls in spots that aren't hit that easily. Trying to create a knock on him is just wrong. I mean would I pick other people over him ABSOLUTELY. Namely Moore. But lets just give the guy credit and say he is having a good year. His run support is awful this year too.
The total 180 Braun has done is crazy, what kind of stuff do they have on these guys? Like to the point where the strongest union in sports is mute. They taking away his MVP?
I said he was having a great year. Sorry that you don't like his stats and the possibility he is getting lucky.
They just said on MLB that it is the first non-analytical positive test resulting in more than 50 games in the history of the league. I think the old way of enforcing this stuff may be done.
Go to post 750 and read that article it explains it there (sorry on my phone) my guess is they are doing 50 for the test and 50 for the lie and I guess they plead out at 60 plus games...
I'm not knocking him. He's been great. He's also been a little lucky. That isn't opinion, that's fact. Both of those things can be true.
I'd still rather be NY. We have an army of good young players but it won't matter if we won't spend and add to the core. Our ceiling is that you hope we can be a good team for a few years, and sneak into the playoffs. After that, anything can happen. The Yankees are always going to be relevant.
You can turn "a little lucky" into "Kuroda sucks it's all luck" if that's what you want to do. Ugh, old people.
You being just 23 and stating nothing but facts in your little world don't remember when the Yankees were anything but relevant in the 80s. They sucked, just like the Marlins do now and an afterthought with guys named Tim Leary and Kevin Maas. It can happen again, the name means nothing. The point is that back then they didnt win like they did in recent years so believe it or not, many people didnt hate them like they do now. You know who was the toast of NY back then? The Mets.
The 80's aren't really relevant to today. There weren't massive TV contracts to pour money into the team like there are today. They're always going to be relevant as long as the same player salary system is in place. There will be down years for sure but that doesn't mean it's great to be a Marlins fan all of the sudden.
Soon the Dolphins as well, man what I really wouldn't give for ONE title. That's why whatever happens to the Yanks if they suck whatever I have seen 5 Championships, do u want more? Sure why not? But I don't get nearly as excited or depressed in the Yanks playoffs as I do in the REGULAR season of Miami. Just one!!! I am getting old bro!!!!!
I don't think anyone said it's great to be a Marlins fan. If I had to choose one situation between Marlins and Yankees, I would go for Miami. I know the differences between ownerships but as of now, I see NY in a bigger hole than us. We have more financial "flexibility"(a term used loosely when it comes to Miami) and our farm system is ahead of theirs. Teams like NY, Toronto, LA and Philadelphia aren't in great situations. I'm envious of teams like Boston, Tampa Bay and St. Louis.
And do the Yankees even have the money to spend now? What about the 189 model finyank keeps referring to? The money locked into players like Tex and A-Rod?
Yeah. That's why I want to blow it up and start over. Suck for a couple of years, rebuild the minors and start dynasty ten or twelve or whatever it would be. I want the 1950s dominance. I want eight out of ten championships in one decade. See that's what's great about being a Yankees fan. We don't even compare our teams to others. We compare our teams to past Yankees teams because that is that is the only way to compare apples to apples. I want the 1998 team to be duplicated and kept for a decade. Four rings in five years isn't enough. Eight in ten is needed
why. as soon as you get good your owner will trade all the good players for draft prospects. you must be a fan of triple A ST LOUIS is a class organization. I respect that franchise
I explained why. I think we're in a position to be good sooner than New York. The position we're in is the position the Yankees should want to be in. Blow it up. No contracts and revive the farm system. I agree regarding the Cardinals. Best team in baseball and arguable best farm system. That's who I envy. Not New York.
that's becasue you are still chasing rings and that one good season. we are chasing dynasties and history. even the cards can't do that. we're the only team left who can do and create things great not just for one season but historically great for decades....legendary. we chase history the rest of the league chases one good year
189 isn't much when most of it is on Tex, A-Rod, Jeter, and Sabathia. Even less when you consider Cano and Granderson.
Um, OK. Until then, you have one of the highest payrolls in the league for the oldest team in the league and an average record with a farm system that ranks about middle of the pack.
Yanks are actually having a great year all things considered. Most of that payroll is hurt, granderson, jeter, tex, arod. Yeah I agree the farm team is nothing special. Yanks haven't spent wisely lately, hopefully this is a wake up call. Honestly, if yanks are rebuilding and are sellers, I'd trade cano for a team that wants to win now if they know they won't spend to keep him Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think they should trade Cano, as well. He's arguably the best 2nd base man in the game. I think they can get a huge haul for him. Maybe even Sabathia and Kuroda, too. I think you can bring in some new prospects and help the farm system a lot by trading them three. From their, you really only have A-Rod and Tex to worry about in terms of huge deals on payroll. I believe Granderson is a FA this year and Jeter has only one year left.
Oy vey here comes Alfonso Soriano and his elongated strike out bat. Getting younger seems to not be a priority... Depends on the prospect and what the cubs are picking up, but I guess he's not all that bad. Wondering if Zoilo's injury is worse than they thought. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/07/yankees-close-to-acquiring-alfonso-soriano.html Kind of ironic that Alfonso is replacing Alex...full circle I guess Just read Alex is facing a 150 games suspension, the evidence is overwhelming and that he might have interfered with the investigation. http://tracking.si.com/2013/07/22/r...-a-rod-investigation-bosch/?section=si_latest
I find that funny too. I loved him when he was here. Almost the 30-30 season. I was sad when we traded him but excited we got arod and the Red Sox didn't. Yeah Red Sox benefited not getting him, got two World Series out of it, but we did too. I honestly don't think we win in 09 had it not been for arod. He came up huge in the twins series and the angels series Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree, totally....I was livid when I found out that they didn't make that trade with LAD last year..... Thing is not many teams are going to trade for Cano IMO... CC is "untradable" with that contract they are going to have to bite alot of it, Tex isnt going anywhere he likes it there and has a full no-trade.... Granderson I take the David Ortiz route with, in that you just offer him arbitration every year.... A-Rod is the big kicker, what happens to him and his contract is all fuzzy right now...
