If I won this, I would immediately paint it. Couldn't pay me to drive an orange car.

The Dolphins & Clemson Tiger fan in me would love an orange car if it's the right color orange, like this one.

ADDED: I couldn't have chrome or light colored wheels on it though. Would have to be like these, gray, or black.

For about 5 seconds I started to wonder what color "String" is until I saw the comma.

I'd stick Han shot second, a picture of Jeff Ireland, and the decision to Roe v. Wade on it as decals if I could get a free Dolphins colored car.

It's a Dodge, so the quality is ****. It's too big, overpriced, handles like a boat, and is the slowest of the new breed of musclecars.

And while those colors work best for our team, on a car? Kill it with fire.

But if you are insane enough to blow your money on a Dodge, there's only one color IMO...Plum Crazy.

I've heard lots of people in the know say Dodge is garbage, but the Challenger is a beautiful looking car, IMHO. Not a fan of aqua or teal in a vehicle, but I'd drive it. I wonder when/where I can enter to win it?

Edited to add: Just had to buy a borderline minivan (Chevy Traverse) because of kids, and winning a sportscar would make me feel so much better about myself.

I'm not a GM or Chevy fan but I try to appreciate stuff for what it is and what was attempted to be accomplished rather than based on my own personal taste, so in that regard I think Dodge & Chevy did a solid job recreating a few muscle cars of old but with a modern flair. A solid enough job that I'd own a Challenger SRT8 or a Camaro SS and proudly drive it.

They're starting to make up for the 3 decades they spent pussifying these cars. For instance, a Mustang should've always been a Mustang, and a Camaro always a Camaro, cars that we associate with power, appeal, and moderate exclusivity. Ford nearly ruined the Mustang by turning into a pu*** vehicle that nearly anyone could afford by offering it in a cheap base model with an embarrassing wimpy engine. Ford didn't fix this until 2011 when they beefed up the base engine from a pedestrian 210 horsepower to 305, actually making the Mustang a Mustang again. Prior to that I felt it was ridiculous having a "sports car" with a price range of 17k to 80k (for a Shelby GT 500KR). I love the Shelby Mustang but I wouldn't have wanted one for the simple fact I could pull up to a light and look over and see a spoiled 16 year old sitting in the same new model but cost 40k less. We didn't see Chevy offering a cheap Vette just to boost unit sales.

Yeah I see what you're saying about the Mustang. Along those same lines - Pontiac had a chance to make some noise and maybe not fail when they decided to re-release the GTO. Then they decided to make it look exactly like the Grand Prix. Stupid ****s.

I actually think Dodge makes the best looking muscle car of all of them in the Challenger. I have a buddy who sells cars and he flat out told me he would refuse to sell me a Dodge even though his dealership has a Dodge branch because he said I would hate him for it in 3 years. I did drive a base model charger for 3 years with no problems at all, but I did get rid of it at exactly 3 years.

Yeah the new Challenger is really growing on me, mainly b/c it's such an easy car to dress up and personalize to make unique, to really make it yours, just like could be done in the old days, and that's what I look for most in a car- individuality.

My last car was a loaded black Jetta GLI. Absolutely loved it and possibly my favorite car to date (this coming from someone who's had a twin turbo 300Z, twin turbo Mazda RX7, Mazda Speed6). Before I bought it I test drove a C Class Benz, Lexus IS 230, and an Audi A4, and I actually preferred the GLI to all three b/c there was more individuality to the 32K GLI than a 35k Audi A4, so I flew from Ft Laud to Houston to buy mine (pic below). Oddly enough the GLI for all intents and purposes is an A4. The engines and driver computer systems are the same; both have automatic w/ tiptronic, dual climate control, sun roof, and xenon lights, except the GLI has a better suspension, nicer heated leather seats, better sound system, a nicer and more original exterior (all factory), the cool Audi TT steering wheel, and the awesome florescent blue & pinkish red Jetta interior lighting that VW fans love. So I wasn't about to pay more for one of those other cars b/c of their "status". Funny enough I bet I received as many compliments on the GLI as owners of an M3 sedan get. Even had an S-Class owner stop me in a Blockbuster parking lot to say he didn't realize VW made a car that looked so good. lol.

You sir, are so off base that it's almost laughable.

Ford offered the base Mustang so that there'd be enough sales to continue the car's existence. Funny, you crow about how Chevy didn't do that, but that's kind of why the Camaro was canceled, wasn't it? No one was buying it. You don't see Chevy offering a cheap Vette because that's their flagship, and a supercar. You can't compare Vettes (and their price) to Mustangs. Same with the Viper for Dodge. You also can't put Shelbys in the same ring, because even though they partner with Ford, it's an aftermarket division. Why don't you include Roush, Saleen, Foose and Lingenfelter in there too?

And 3 decades of pussifying? Bro, have you been under a rock? What about the Fox body 5.0's? How about the Cobra R? Ever hear of the Terminator Cobra? The only time I would say the Mustang was "pussified" was with the Mustang II. Other than that, they've kept the model's performance heritage alive. And for the record, they weren't the only ones to "pussify" their car, or have you forgotten the Camaro Berlinetta and the Challenger that was based on the Omni platform?

Ford didn't fix it until 2011? There was this thing called a GT that came out in '05 with 300 horses, and with a few bolt-ons and a tune made crazy horsepower. I have news for you, my '06 - even with the mods I've put into it - still cost less than the SRT8 392, and I'd blow it into the weeds. The fact that you're basing your opinion of the Mustang on the six cylinder version is staggering. Also FYI, that "pedestrian" 6 cylinder in the '05 Mustang put out the same horsepower as the IROC Z Camaro. Is that a "pussified" car too?

Here's another fact, if it weren't for those "wimpy" Stangs that came out in '05 and sparked interest in the genre - and got people buying them again - you wouldn't even have the new Camaro or the Challenger. Once again, as in was in the 60's, Dodge and Chevy are followers, not innovators. And Dodge quality is garbage. I've owned older MOPARS, my '73 'Cuda 340 for one, and back then all the musclecars had spotty quality, but now is a different story. The quality of these cars has changed, but Dodge hasn't.

Offering the base model Mustang kept the model in production, and allowed them to continue making the higher horsepower versions. I could give a rat's *** if I pull up at a light next to a base model '05. As soon as I push the pedal I know it's not the same car, so who gives a ****?

Mustangs are meant to be modified. If you buy one and keep it stock, then yeah of course you'd choose the 5.0 over the '07. But if you like to tinker, there's nothing wrong with the '05-'08 models. You can pick up an '05 to '08 for decent money and turn it easily into a Camaro killer. I'm running close to 620 horses on stock internals, just a blower and a great tune.

Also for the record, I've owned Trans Ams, Cudas, Camaros AND Mustangs, so I'm not basing anything on "personal taste." I appreciate the Challenger for its design. It looks great. It's not up to snuff in performance compared to the Mustang and Camaro, however, and its quality is crap. Fact, not taste.

I base my "taste" on that particular car you posted. Unless you're part of the "fast and furious" crowd, that color combo on a vehicle is butt ugly.

But that's just my taste. ;)

Okay love it or hate it, you have to laugh at one of the comments underneath it. As it turns out, it was designed by country singer Tim McGraw, and the color combo is to match the cover of his new album. One guy commented:

Plus, if you take it easy on the car, its 4 cylinder treats you nicely at the pump which is always an added bonus.

The Mustang was the bees knees for Ford back in the day. It's not the Mustang's fault Ford f***ed themselves up. Seems to me Ford took the easy way out by cheapening the Mustang to make it affordable to all in order to boost unit sales, and if you read my post you'd see I mentioned it was cheapened to boost unit sales. If Ford and GM didn't try to cut corners the way they did they would've never had to pussify the Mustang to begin with. It's Ford & GM's fault they lost touch with the consumer.

Not sure why you're arguing with me about the Shelby GT 500. I don't care what's going on under the hood, etc; it's still a Mustang. Visually, the interior & exterior are still the same minus a few tweaks. My problem isn't with the Shelby, which I figured you would've caught onto; my problem is with Ford turning the Mustang into a massively common vehicle rather than keeping it the iconic sports car it once was. I love Mustangs. My first car was a '66 that my grandfather restored. He was a mechanic for Ford Racing and even he's embarrassed by the road Ford took with the Mustang. I'm sorry but it took away some of the joy and prestige of owning a Mustang GT & Shelby by drastically lowering the floor of the model as a whole to where there was such a gap between the car's floor and ceiling it was ridiculous. How many $30k+ GTs & $55k+ GT 500s were produced compared to the sub $20k base Mustang? That's my point. The floor should've never been lowered that drastically to begin with to where drivers of GTs & Shelbys have to see massive amounts of their same model car on the street with theirs but at the cost of a maxed out Focus. It does nothing but dull & cheapen the impression we get from the GT & Shelby. Ford should've done what other manufacturers have done and produced a car to fill that role rather than taking the easy way out by combining the Mustang's recognition with a cheap purchase price. Ford wasn't struggling because people stopped buying cars; they were struggling b/c they sucked and offered an inferior product while other companies (like Honda & Toyota) were offering consumers more value & reliability for the buck.

No, have you been under a rock? What do you call the third generation Mustang starting in 1979 that offered an 86 HP engine and a 4.2 V8 with 120 HP, the lowest Mustang has ever seen?! Remember this thing below? What an iconic car that was, eh! And that was in '79 dude, so don't give me this stuff about needing to "continue the cars existence". It's because of pussifying the car like this that they almost killed its existence.
Then in '82 Ford beefed up the GT to a whopping 157 HP. Watch out streets of America!
1983 saw a max HP of 175 HP (in the GT).
In '84, the max HP was 200 (in the SVO) but it was a friggin 4 cylinder. Yeah, that's really sticking with the car's heritage. Sayonara American muscle.
1985-86 saw the GT retake the HP lead with 210 but reduced it to 200 in '86.
From '87-92 the GT increased to 225 HP.
In '91 the base model 4 cylinder increased from 88 to 105 HP.

That's THIRTEEN years with the Mustang offering a high range of 120-225 HP, with a low of 86-105 HP. Mustang owners had to soup their cars up if they wanted any performance from it.

I'll leave the wimpy second generation alone b/c at least that can be somewhat excused to the '73 oil crisis.
It wasn't until '96 that Mustang once again broke the 300HP barrier, barely doing so at 305.
And it wasn't until '99 that Ford finally gave the Mustang something reminiscent of old with the 385 HP V8 in the SVT Cobra R. How many different Mustangs in the 60's and early 70's had beefy engines like that? I know it was a handful.

You're not paying attention. I'm not talking about the high end of the Mustang model. I'm talking about finally raising the car's floor so that not every Tom, Dick, and Suzy can buy a Mustang. The base model is now how it should be so that the name "Mustang" can hopefully regain some of that iconic image it once had. Mustang can finally be Mustang again rather than be divided into different classes (IE the cheap Mustang that EVERYONE can afford and the GT and above that are more exclusive). It's now like a Nissan 350-370Z where there is no low floor on the car to convolute everything. With the Z, it's a Z. If you own one it's given that it's a nice car. With the pre 2011 Mustangs, if someone asked you what you drove, you'd have to clarify whether it was the piece of s*** base model or an actual sports car, and it should never have gotten that way.

The car enthusiasts never lost interest in the genre to begin with. Ford & GM caused that by not offering anything in that genre the enthusiasts could get excited about. While Ford was putting out crappy Mustangs the enthusiasts were still busy modifying them to meet their desires. They lost the pulse of the car owner, to the point they switched from muscle to 4 cylinder turbos and would've switched from rear wheel drive to front wheel if it weren't for a million disgruntled letters protesting it.

I'm glad you love your Stang unconditionally, but you're just one person. There a plenty of drivers who want to feel more exclusive than that when they buy a higher priced car. Where's the aesthetic individuality of it when there are millions of cars that look just like a limited production Shelby GT500 minus the badges & upgraded wheels?

There's a difference between "being modifiable" and "having to be modified". An enthusiast who wants performance from a Mustang shouldn't need modification as his only option, but unfortunately that was the only option for owners during a 19 year period where the max HP available was like 225.

If the Challenger's reliability is crap, then shame on Dodge. I'd have to drive one to see how it feels.

I ain't got a problem with that. To me, fun colors and color combos are more acceptable and inviting now that we live in a time where half the population is decorating themselves with at least 1 tattoo. Me, I have a half sleeve on my left arm so I don't have a problem with a unique paint job like this one adding character & originality, just as our tattoos do.
