Well, there's Ellerbees face on first take calling the patriots vulnerable..

Lets hope this type of comment motivates our own team in some way.

There are no invincibles out there. Patriots are vulnerable whether Ellerbe says it or not. This sounds like a faux media story to make some headlines during the dead season before camp. Like Kaepernick's cap. Crazy thing is that he went out of his way to heap praise on them, too much praise if you ask me, but I guess its that time of year.

For me, I think there is a better edge to be the team that doesn't say anything over the team that does, a more quiet rage is the more appealing mentality for me personally..I would rather be that, but if you think stuff like this doesn't make opponents work harder, and play more pissed off, I can't argue with that because I can't prove it, however, I do know that playing angry brings out the best in me so I'm sure it can bring out the best in pro athletes.

I think getting their asses beat in the AFCCG and the general tone of negativity surrounding them could help motivate them, though even if it did I doubt it would offset the material losses in talent that's causing the negative coverage. Amendola, Donald Jones, Ballard etc aren't going to become as good as Gronk, AHern and Welker just because they're playing angry. Wake will put Brady on his *** regardless of his anger level. I wish we could play New England 16 times this season, real talk. But IIRC we don't play them till the 2nd half of the season and by then I doubt a single Patriot or Dolphin will care or even remember what Ellerbe said.

Thats what Dansby tried to do and by the end of his time when he talked he sounded like a fool and nobody paid attention to him....I would rather see the person who ultimately is going to lead this young team to an over .500 record do the talking, that being Tannenhill....

As long as Tom Brady is healthy the Patriots will be favored by Vegas. But I think this is the time to bet the house on the Dolphins.

Brady will remember, it's what they do, will it offset the losses, no, will it make him and his team practice harder, play harder, more angry, maybe, will Wake still put him on his ***, yes..my initial response remains, who the fu&$ are we to tell anyone their vulnerable?, if your telling me that regardless of the past this type of mentality needs to be established in the locker room in order to be a championship caliber team, and for some to get over their hump?, then I can see that angle.

It's not like he came out and said that the Pats were soft or not a tough team.
He identified their vulnerability which to me and everyone else around football knows to be true.
When the statement is followed up with we have to go out and prove it that seems fine to me.
Ellerbe was just stating a fact and how we have to act on it.
    No harm here.

This in a nutshell, is the exact way I felt about anything, from when I played in college to now watching my various favorite teams in multiple sports....This isnt about being afraid of Brady or BB or Baltimore, or SF or anyother team to me....I don't know agree to disagree I just feel if you worry about your team first and take care of your business you don't have to worry about the other stuff...

Sadly that thought process is lost in todays game where they pound their chest like a moron celebrating a 1st down...

You both are becoming dead to me that you're getting your collective panties in a bunch over literally nothing. You both are blowing this out of proportion dramatically. You're going to have top do some serious groveling to get back into my good graces. Like wearing lingerie and prancing while bringing me food and drink.

I dunno, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Brady was with his family paying no attention whatsoever to any of this. He has 3 rings, 5 AFC titles, a super model wife and a couple young children that he won't be seeing much of for the next several months. I doubt he's glued to the NFL network ticker reading up on the latest gossip.

I got dibs on the enema buddy..

Seriously, why are we wrong in saying that we shouldn't be calling anyone vulnerable when we haven't done sh@&, and once again, are you saying this kind of talk inspires a team to play better or instill a different kind of confidence that were accustomed to?

2nd, I'm not freakin out over this, my tone is curious with room to be wrong.

Saying any team is vulnerable is like saying humans breathe air. Its obvious and non threatening. The Pats, like every other team in the history of the league are vulnerable.

I'm just not as scared of Brady as you are. I really hope the team is not as scared as you are. He's a great player, but I'm not going to walk on egg shells worried that he might hear me and they shouldn't either.

    Live from the Internet.
I apologize, I saw a quoote taking out of context on twitter, than saw this thread and jumped in. He wasn't talking **** .
With that being said...yeah, say all the good things and yada yada. Untill it shows on the field Patriots are #1 in my book, im sorry. They have been written off too many ****ing times. Maybe because I became a fan in early 2000s and all Patriots have done is whoop on us (and the rest of the league, yes I know we've played them tough)

I don't mean to come off as a negative nancy here...which I know I am coming of as but whatever.
As somebody who has seen only two decent seasons by this organization (Im a youning :tongue2: ) I am tired of all the talk, and this isn't about Ellerbe but going back years and years, from Channing to Joey Potter...I want results.

It's not just Brady. It's Belichick and Brady. They day a wounded animal is the most dangerous. They are gonna use this to prove why they are the best HC QB tandem since Shula and Marino. I just never count the Pats or till they are out.

So because of the way Ellerbe answered the question it gives his teammates the impression he's not scared so why should they?

That I agree with, you're a man you shouldnt be scared of any other man....

There is a difference between being scared and respect.....and I am addressing this not on DE's comments but solely on what you are saying.....I realized DE's isnt scared nor should he be of anybody...

I just don't understand your take on this, WADR.

For someone who touts the importance of confidence and playing angry, you sound like you want our players to not display confidence and play scared.

You seem to be hung up on the fact that saying a team is vulnerable is an insult, and its not. Nothing is invulnerable. Plus he quantifies it numerous times by pointing out talk is cheap and they need to prove it on the field. This wasn't bulletin board material.

The Dolphins shouldn't be thinking about anyone other than the Dolphins. Anything else is a distraction.

If this is bulletin board material, then anything can be. If anything can be, then there's literally no point in every being careful about what you say, since it won't matter.

I think at this point, Brady needs extra motivation like I need to put on a few extra pounds.

    This is a nothing.

Who's counting them out though? People are saying there's a realistic chance that Miami will be on par with them, that the division won't be a cakewalk the way it's been for most of the decade.

If it is nothing then why say it in the first place??? Just worry about the Miami Dolphins, leave the talk about other teams to other teams.....

Talking about an opponent very rarely ever pans out, media is there to sell papers and create controversy. Don't give them anything to run with....

    This is flat out ridiculous.

No one was insulted. This is not going up on a bulletin board. No smack was talked. At this point, if he said the Pats were in the AFC East you'd be upset.

He was asked a question and he answered it. You are the one giving the media what they want. He said the Dolphins have to prove it on the field. He said talk is cheap.
